Nothing sucks more than dieting than having salad while everyone else is enjoying wonderfull lucious juicy yummy delicious foods. Salad sucks compared to mexican food, italian food and pizza. Everyone else is enjoying yummy cheese and crusty bread and rich butter and juicy tomato sauce and garlic, and cheese and pasta and bread and yummies and delicious tiramesu or cheese cake..... and the dieters get salad. Gross healthy salad. The only thing grosser than salad is putting meat on salad. I do NOT eat meat. I do not like the taste ot texture of meat.
I prefer salads to all the foods that you mentioned in your post. They are yummy, they don't suck, the are delicious if you know how to make them, and I do add chicken or tuna to mine sometimes to increase the protein count.
You don't like them, just don't eat them but please don't say that they are gross. How would you like it if I say that pizza or mexican food are gross and that they suck?0 -

Maybe you need to eat some Mexican salads.....that's what we do here in Mexico....lol.
But when I was in Spain I also ate Spanish salads and they also were delicious, as were those in Italy and pretty much everywhere else......
If you find salads gross and boring, maybe it has more to do with how you prepare them. Make more of an effort......or eat other delicious foods. No one ever said that you MUST eat salad....there are 1000s of other healthful foods you can eat instead.

Sounds like you're choosing the wrong restaurants. Eat a roasted root veggie salad. Your life will be changed.
1) Roast carrots, parsnips, beets, sunchokes, etc with some olive oil, tarragon, and salt.
2) Chill,
3) Toss with cooked, chilled quinoa,
4) add arrugula cause it's awesome.
5) Dress with lemon and herbs.

The worst word I saw there is "dieters". :noway:
So don't be a "dieter". Don't put yourself on a temporary diet - log all your foods, look back over your day, your week, the last month, and see where you can do better- change your eating habits for good. What put you over on cals, and was it worth it? Could you eat half a portion of it and still be satisfied? (sometimes yes, sometimes no! ) Where you way under some days? What calorie dense healthy foods can you add to bring the numbers up? What are you lacking? Protein? Healthy fats or carbs? What can you add to you foods that bring things macro numbers to the right level?
It takes time to change your eating habits, learn portion control, and realize you CAN lose the weight without eating rabbit food while everyone else has cheesy breadsticks (mmmmmm, cheesy breadsticks - I had some last week - twice! Did not ruin my progress. :drinker: ) and tiramisu.
Figure out how to eat for the rest of your life, not for some temporary period of time to reach some magical scale number than you may or may not even be happy with when it finally shows on the scale.
Eat right, exercise, drink water, take rest days, get good sleep, have patience and repeat. Takes some time, but it's worth it.0 -

'salad' = anything(s) you want, mixed together. it's really hard to mess that up.0 -
I have a salad every day. I found some yummy greek yogurt salad dressing, of which 1tbsp is more than enough. I was starting to get a bit bored with having the same salad day after day so I added red onion and BAM, whole new taste. Sometimes it takes tweaking/adding just one ingredient to make an otherwise boring/plain salad stand out.0

How to make salad taste good?
I made a list of all the vegetables I "like", meaning the ones I will actually swallow.
I found the BEST salad dressing for me, Newman's Own Lite Balsamic, which has GREAT flavor!
I add nuts and/or seeds, hard boiled egg and meat for protein.
It is delicious and filling and I'm eating vegetables now!0 -
The only salad I've been able to eat and enjoy has been from olive garden. I have the dressing at home but I'm still not sure what they put in it lol. XD0

I don't mind a nice salad now and again, but would quickly fall off the wagon if it was all I could eat!
My favourite is smoked mackerel, poppy seeds & lemon juice. on rocket, raw spinach and baby leafs. But I do have to be in a salad eating mood, and the only time I'd order salad in a restaurant is maybe on a red-hot day in summer.
I tend to use salad as a replacement to unhealthier accompaniments - so rather than having steak and chips, I'll have steak and salad.
If I was going out for a one-off meal, I'd probably just have whatever the hell I fancied and do a couple of extra workouts.0
