I try to refrain from labeling foods as good or bad, healthy or not healthy. Too many labels and restrictions and this becomes a 'diet' not a lifestyle. There is nothing wrong with rice or pasta when consumed in moderation. Watch your portions, log everything and ENJOY!

I LOVE YOGA!! It's wonderful for strength and flexibility. It's a great addition to a fitness program!! For me personally - I still like to do cardio and additional strength training along with my yoga practice. So I alternate my works outs. Generally I'll do cardio one day, yoga the next day, and then strength training…

Agree with OP!!! When I was a kid - My Mom made us delicious nutritious home cooked meals and taught us how to eat healthy balanced meals. McDonald's was an occasional 'treat', not something we ate all the time.

There are no magic pills or short cuts. The successful way to lose weight is to learn healthy eating habits, calorie deficit and portion control. You are setting yourself up for failure if you try the magic pill route. And draining your pocket book as well by buying into gimmicks and fad diets. Check back with this thread…

Yogurt is a great source of protein. So I usually opt for Chobani or Fage greek yogurt. They have 13 grams of protein a serving. The extra calories are worth the protein boost. "light' yogurts tend to be less calories because they have been stripped of their nutrients for the sake of saving a few calories. I avoid the…

If you hated it before why do you think you'll like it now? You don't have to radically change your diet - maybe just lay off the 'meat heavy meals' and consume them in moderation and lighter portions. In my experience, starting a 'diet' that you don't like NEVER works.

Youtube has lot's of free workouts - Jessica Smith, Jillian Michaels, Leslie Sansone, Denise Austin, Fitness Blender, Exercise TV, Sean Vigue Fitness....the list goes on and on!

I'd like to add from a training point of view - LIFT WEIGHTS, STRENGTH TRAIN, EAT PROTEIN!

^^^Great post!!!! I'm 55 years old, have been working out since I've been 19 and have maintained a healthy weight for years. I still have jiggly legs and bat wings and let's not even get started on bathing suits. But you know what. I love my legs!!! They have carried me through countless workouts and many miles. I love my…

Buy a tape measure and use that to track progress. That along with how your clothes fit and taking progress pics is the most accurate way to go.

I used to get this urge too! Especially if I was reading a good book. It's gotten much easier through the years. I've to sub out junk food for healthy snacks. Or if I must have chips or ice cream I portion it out so it still fits in my calorie goal.

Back in the day - People were able to lose weight before the invention of fitness gadgets, websites, trackers and scales ect. Although they are wonderful tools to use, they are not necessary for everyone. It's really an individual preference.

The best workouts for you are the ones you love!!!!! I'd much rather get off the treadmill and out in nature and hike my *kitten* off!!! Fitness should be fun!

I looks like you are very close to goal weight. Those last few pounds are very difficult!!! Personally I think 1200 calories a day is not enough. You may want to try upping your calories a bit to see if that helps. Sounds silly but sometimes eating at maintenance for awhile helps. Also, I understand you have a bad knee. Is…

Welcome and best wishes!!! MFP is a great source of motivation and inspiration! I love browsing the success story boards. There are so many people on here have made amazing transformations. It can be done!! The best advice I can give you is - don't look at this as a diet. It's a lifestyle change. This means enjoying foods…

Do not start a 'diet' that is going to make you sick (you stated low carb made you sick). Obviously it will not be sustainable. Calorie restriction is your best way to go. And think of it in terms of a lifestyle change.

I think if one wants to go vegan for ethical reasons that's their own personal choice. Go for it! But....if they are going vegan because they think it's the only healthy way to lose weight then they should give it a lot of thought. You can eat a variety of foods, not eliminate food groups and still have great success…

^^^^Excellent advice!

I agree with you completely!!! I'm not on a 'diet'...I'm living a healthy lifestyle. MFP allows me to track to calories so I know I'm on the right path and to gently (LOL...in big red letters) remind me when I've gone over. There will always be people in the world that just don't get it. It used to bother me....now I just…

Rapid weight loss = muscle loss...and especially as a dude you don't want that. 1300 calories a day for a guy is just wrong. I'm a 55 year old post menopause woman and I eat more than that. So yes - you are setting yourself up for potential failure. Up your calories to a sensible amount, take your time losing the weight.…

Youtube has tons for free! Just do a search for type of workout you're looking for.

There are TONS of free workout videos on youtube! Jessica Smith TV is my favorite. But if you do a search for low impact aerobics on youtube you will find plenty to choose from. Also Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home programs has some great DVD's. A few of her workouts are free on youtube as well.

Weight loss/ weight maintenance/ health and fitness - it's ALL a life long process. Don't let a handful of days spent on vacation freak you out!!! Who cares if the scale is up a few pounds, who cares if it's water weight or whatever. The most important point is that you return to your healthy habits once vacation is over!
-
I'm confused by your post and not sure - Have you worked out 73 days in a row? If so, then YES, take a Rest day!!! I

Wow. It makes me so sad the number of young woman out there today that hate their bodies and have no self esteem. YOU ARE NOT OVERWEIGHT. You are at a healthy weight and actually on the slim side. DO NOT compare yourself to others and learn to love who you are. You are on the path to developing an unhealthy relationship…
