I went cold turkey on chocolate, sweets, biscuits and crisps in January and didn't taste chocolate again until Easter in April. Had a bit of an out of control binge for 5 days but felt so rough I swore off it again. Now however I control my chocolate cravings rather than the other way around. And I enjoy it when I eat it…

On Saturday night I wore a dress that I bought in 2009. I wore it to my brothers wedding with full support underwear on but haven't worn it since as I had put on too much weight. At the weekend I fit in it again but this time didn't need the support underwear - had a fab night, felt sexy and sassy and have never had so…

I remember Rosemary Conley (UK weightloss and fitness 'guru' if you don't know her!) once saying that she avoided pasta and rice for 48 hours before her weight in as they always made her weight heavier. Maybe that's it?

Am I the only woman of a certain age who finds her ego boosted by a whistle, hoot or whatever? Doesn't matter who it's from - if they can make the effort to do it you must be doing something right :-)

Weightwatchers certainly works at making people think about what they are eating but I had to stop going as I couldn't believe how paranoid it made everyone. Mature women standing in line to be weighed, removing every bit of excess clothing (even underwear on one occasion) every bit of jewellery and going for a wee every…

Wow that's impressive! I was feeling chuffed with myself for getting to 90kgs using BOTH legs!

Kaytee, I agree that you already look better in that bikini than a lot of other people but you may want to lose the socks?!!! :-)

tjthegreatone - do you mind me asking how old you are? I'm the same height as you and for many years was 154lbs and was forever trying to lose 7-14lbs to 'fit' with the charts and graphs. Now Im 20 years older I can see that the figure I had then was absolutely perfect for my height and the 7lbs the charts told me I needed…

ctango I'm the same height as you and trying to shift from 173 ish to 160. I've been working out six days a week for the past 4 months plus keeping to 1600 cals per day but not lost a thing and was getting very fed up. But this week I've lost 6lbs! How? I went away at the weekend, had too much to drink Sat night, felt…

In many cases, it is the parents fault. My 3 (boys17 and 15, girl 13) are all slim and active but then my husband and I have always been active, running, walking with the dogs, weight training etc. The kids were always encouraged to do after school clubs for swimming, running, etc. Genetics play a part as do hormones - my…

Can't stand hot dogs anyway - all that bread - yuuck. And these descriptions aren't tempting me any!!

To echo others maybe at 5ft 10" and 150lbs you are already at your ideal weight. I can relate to your frustrations as I've been cutting back on food and upping my exercise considerably since the start of the year and lost nothing. Last Sat night I went away with my sons rugby team, drank FAR too much wine and although I…

Without wishing to sound too harsh, you are the only person who can control whether it is a waste of your money by gaining the weight back! Even if you don't lose any weight intially you will be fitter and thus healthier. I am assuming you are still fairly young - as a wise old 43 year old I would have to say " never NOT…

That sounds tiny to me! My 15 year old son is 6ft 6.5" and is 189lbs - he doesn't have an ounce of fat on him but then he's only 15 so will bulk up over the next couple of years. He does have a naturally stocky frame rather than a skinny though - my eldest now 17 is 6ft 4" and 150lbs but he is REALLY skinny.

I wouldn't get new 'girls' (would get nice underwear instead!) but if I could afford it would have liposuction on my hips as quick as a flash! And a tummy tuck to get rid of my baby belly and c-section scar. Perhaps its because my husband is a leg man not a boob man!

What has worked for me was going away with my sons rugby team for about 30 hours at the weekend. Had so much to drink I couldn't face food on Sunday and had lost 4lbs by yesterday morning (since Friday!) . Kept under 1000 calories yesterday and lost another pound this morning - only 0.3 to go before I am under 168! Yes I…

Follow the C25K programme. Its fab for increasing your running speed as you push yourself that bit more, knowing you have a rest coming up!

I'm terrible for eating whilst preparing my evening meal! The only thing which works for me is to (very selfishly) not have the stuff in the house!

I'm in exactly the same boat and bleated on here many times how frustrating it was. I decided to open my diary but before I did I had a good honest look at it and discovered that there were more 'missed' or partial days than I thought! There were a lot of Quick Added calories too - mostly for gravy, extra veg, general…

Having read this thread I'm suddenly glad I had to have 3 C-Sections with my kids! x

If these things really worked then they would be so expensive none of us could afford them!

I think it's important to define WHEN it's 'OK' to feel hungry. Such as up to an hour before your next scheduled meal - as it means your body has efficiently burned the fuel you gave it last meal and is now ready for more. If you are genuinely hungry an hour after eating then you need to look at what you eat and how much.…

Repeating the advice of previous posters to keep a strict track of what you are eating. I made the mistake (several times over!) of thinking I could eat loads more because I was running 5 times a week when in fact I was only burning 400 cals at the most (after 4 miles!) which didn't really justify the extra potatoes,…

I have tried several times to lose weight through running and not achieved this aim. Even when I was running over 20 miles a week I didnt lose. But I did get great legs! When I re-started I used the C25K programme along with other exercise and STILl didn't lose weight. This year I only run on a Saturday morning as I go to…

As well as your shape, build etc it also depends on how tight you like to wear your clothing! My friend still claims to be a size 10 because even though she has put weight on her hips she wears her trousers and skirts very tight. If I was her I would be wearing a 12 if not a 14! However I prefer my clothes to be on the big…

5ft 9" and 44 years old (nearly) Mum of 3 kids (though it shouldn't make a difference!) and currently 170-173lbs. Aiming for anything in the 160's at the moment as though I'm toning beautifully I'm not losing. Absolute dream weight would be 147lbs but I haven't been that weight since I was 16! So a realistic ultimate goal…

I LOVE the leg press. Being a newbie to weights it's a great exercise for doing all the leg muscle groups - I've increased from 3 x 12 at 50kg to 3 x 12 at 80kg over the course of about 8 wks.. One set feet standard width apart, one set close together, final set as far apart as they can go without falling off the plate! As…

I'd like the facility to add a brief description to the Quick Add Calories bit. Sometimes I just don't know how many calories are in gravy, or a sauce or assorted veg and it's quicker to estimate. Ok not so good to do it a lot but when you are home cooking all the time it's necessary and would be good to know where the…

Chocolate! I had 3 chocolates last night and 6 today but after not having any since 3rd Jan I feel SO-O-O ill! My stomach is churning and I can't keep my eyes open. I'm sure it's the sudden intake of sugar - I also succumbed to a ring doughnut for a colleagues birthday. It's hard to believe that I used to feel like this…

I love Human by The Killers for cycling and Eye of the Tiger (Survivor) for stairmaster! And yes I'm sad enough to hit repeat until I've done my time!
