  • I can see the difference. Give yourself more time for your brain to start to recognize the new you. Stay with it and don't give up. I started where you were and I'm down to 260 lbs., and still losing and the changes continue even when you plateau. There will be weeks when the scale is the only place you see your success…
  • Pizza is the best food... ever. But yeah, I can really only indulge my pizza addiction once a month now.
  • Until you know what fits best and works for you - buy from a brick and mortar store where you can try on the shoes, and walk around in them. Once you know, you can buy from anywhere.
  • I used to run cross country and I am trying to get back into shape to run long distance again, among lots of other reasons - like health. Stopped running and gained weight after a back injury. So... I have some experience with running and you should mix it up with both. Our training regimen back in the day had days where…
  • Thank you. I feel great.
  • I've lost 68 lbs. since the first week of August last year. 2/3 of that loss was in the first 4 months. I slowed things down around 50 lbs. and started strength training. For me it isn't just about weight loss. There's a lifestyle component that I wanted to make sure I had so I can not only lose the weight but maintain it.
  • It is a totally awesome journey. I used to be skinny as... well, skinny. So returning to my "skinny" days is kind of like a long overdue homecoming. Energy is up. Self-esteem is up. Confidence is... well, I suppose I've rarely lacked for confidence... lol. But now I can feel and look more confident with confidence.
  • 3 weeks to lose my first 10 to 12 lbs. I maintained a loss of 3.5 lbs. per week for the first 3 months. Things slowed down after 4 months when I switched my workouts to include strength training and I increased my calories to compensate for the new workout. It took me about 3 months to lose the next 10 lbs. but during that…
  • Smart guy, this guy. lol Ultimately when I'm done losing weight and getting fit again, I will be designing an all new wardrobe for myself rather than just buying off the rack. I want clothes that fit me perfectly because they were made for me. My reward is going to be feeling great. Hard to beat that.
  • I think if you share your vitals here, people here will help you with the calculations to figure out your calorie and macro needs. Things they'll need are: height weight descriptions of daily activity level (not including exercise) description of exercise (separate from work and household/domestic activities) And of…
  • Treadmill and track running is probably not your thing. You should look at cross country running (trail running) before you give up on running completely.
  • I actually don't reward myself with anything tangible. I find the journey and the achievement of milestones to be extremely gratifying. I just wish people would stop telling me I look great when I run into them now after busying myself with getting healthy. All this positive attention... It's starting to go to my head. ;-)
  • I started out at over 333 lbs. I say "over" because I know I was heavier than that at my heaviest but it wasn't until I went in for a health check and I weighed in at 333 lbs. that I saw how heavy I had gotten. It wasn't until after a few personal setbacks shortly after my medical check up that I decided to do something…
  • Don't change it. The definition of celibacy is not the abstention from all sexual activity. That is a contemporary usage that isn't even all that common. The correct and actual definition of celibacy is as follows, and most people here are using the word correctly. Definition of CELIBACY 1: the state of not being married 2…
  • Yes. By choice. Longest time, by choice, was about 7 years. Current streak - 4 months or 14 months, depending on what you decide to count. *shrug* I know who I want to be with, so I see no point in messing around with other women. And casual is just empty calorie burns. ;-)
  • 5'5" and about 145 lbs... and you say you have issues with depression related to body image issues? I hate to say it, but I would suggest talking to a professional. Your body image and depression issues, and stress over 3 kg weight gain from a single week of falling off the wagon points to an issue that few, if any, people…
  • Yeah... A year ago I was that "guy". My ex tried to get me to lose weight, eat healthier, exercise and work less and workout more. She finally broke up with me and guess what... I fixed the those things that were wrong with me. Too late to fix us and too late for the relationship, but she and I are still good friends and I…
  • I join in on the odd compliments train... When they compliment me on my weight loss I tell them how much I've lost and how much further I have to go till I'm done. Inevitably I get a big "wow" on how much I've lost and a big "what" when I say I'm only halfway there. So I cap it off by telling them that "my goal is to lose…
  • My go to snack to stave off binge urges was cheese. I love cheese.
  • Recent on the left... 15 months ago on the right.
  • I used to be athletic. I used to run at least 3 miles 3-5 times a week. 14 years ago I injured my back. The running stopped. I didn't gain much for a few years and my weight held steady until it didn't... then it jumped to around 280-290 lbs. It held steady there for years, and then I got into a relationship and my life…
  • Big awesome on the transformation! A cousin compared my own changes to that of a Transformer... from "truck" to "awesome". Good luck with Phase 2... bulk. I'm halfway through my own transformation and I started working in the "bulk" routines into my lifestyle and workouts already. It slows down the loss rate (which is good…
  • The difference 20 lbs. makes is the difference between night and day. I bet the start of the journey was addicting with how quickly you could see results and the feedback from people around you. Keep it up! I gained a lot of weight in a short period of time right before camera phones came along. Losing weight now and…
  • Amazing change!
  • Well done! What's comes next? Shopping spree?
  • I guess I'm on my own. No worries. Can do.
  • I would recommend a bit of intense exercise every day. For myself the endorphins from exercise have replaced the feel good feeling I got from eating. I still get cravings but they go away after an exercise session.
  • Awesome! One thing I did when I started out to lose weight was I forced myself to have daily exercise and I weighed myself only once a week. The changes are so gradual that it takes a week to really have a measurable result. I turned my weigh-in days into a "thing" that I would report to my friends on Facebook. I called it…
