Not just weird. Stupid. Setting the kids up for a childhood of ridicule and assumptions that her parents are illiterate. (Not that Tam would do such a thing.) I know that "vita" means "life" in Italian, but Italians don't subject their children to such whims. And in the US, it sounds like Velveeta, truncated. Has anyone…

I'd say eat more vegetables. They'll fill you up if you eat enough, and without too many calories. Try a cup of broccoli florets with an ounce of babybel cheese (50-70 cal). If you melt the cheese and dip the broccoli into it, you'll get the same sensory experience as the nachos without the carbs and salt.

Darn right! I sweat like crazy when I run... and I've been running for years at 7 mph or faster. It's not supposed to be easy! It's something our ancestors did to avoid being eaten or trampled to death! I'll add, however, that the lighter you are, the easier it gets. The fastest runners are very lean - the sprinters have…

Good comment. It's really supposed to be like cycling, but with an ellipse-shaped foot path instead of a a circular one (as on a bike). And I agree about the TV... Sometimes it can get you going faster!

Yeah, it had a one-season stint on TGIF...

Thanks... That's a good way of thinking about it. Though my mind keeps wandering to the premiere episode of that short-lived sitcom "Teen Angel," with the guy who dies from eating old hamburger. Of course, this was not a hamburger.

So, I was delighted that the convenience store in my office had re-stocked the Milk & Cereal Bars in Cocoa Puffs! Unfortunately, I had already scarfed it down before I noticed the expiration date... Feb 8! That's more than a month expired! Should I be worried? Or are there enough preservatives it that thing to make it…

Congrats! It's amazing how fast we can go when we break out of the 10-minute-mile mindset. I remember the first time I let myself go faster than that... It was actually easier! For my part, last night I did my first outdoor run of the season, 4.14 miles. My time wasn't so great, but considering that it contains most of the…

I don't... I just try to manage my calories at the maintenance level. Any exercise I do is a "bonus." I find that this works better for me than trying to maintain the 500 calorie deficit day after day. On days that I don't exercise, that means eating only 1200 calories. As someone without much to lose, I find that too…

Growing up, I was the skinny sister... My sister put on weight easily, and my mother had been very overweight or obese since I was born. My mother often tried to control my sister's eating instead of her own, and sometimes did so with mean jokes. I'll admit, I participated, too. ... When I was about 16 and I quit organized…

Me, too. Did it today.

Happy MFP Anniversary, Kerri!

In general, the fact that women are women makes it hard to lose that last "little bit of fat." But again, in general, for runners that last "little bit of fat" is a lot littler than it is for people who work out less. If you run in a cold climate with inadequate clothing, your body may hold on to fat... But otherwise, I…

Long-distance athletes have unique nutritional needs that other dieters do not. Kimono - have you tried timing your carbs for maximal energy release when you need it? I've seen diet plans in Runner's World that suggest having your high-carb meal closest to your run and raising the % protein for the other meals. In response…

Long-distance running always makes me feel famished... Drinking a lot of water and some gatorade helps though... as a lot of that famished feeling is really thirst masquerading as hunger. And fatigue... Are you getting your zzz's? Btw... you're so lean already... Maybe you just don't have any fat to lose - either in pounds…

Why not consolidate your walks? Each day you walk, you can do a total of 1 hour at 3 mph. Break it up however you like. You'll end up covering the distance and avoid the stress from your brisk walking. Are you sure you're going 2 mph as it is? That's... pretty... slow...

Yes, there's a reason why they're intended for babies.

"Live your life" always gets me running a little faster.

The results are the reward, as far as I'm concerned. That said, I have bought some new clothes lately. Not so much because my body changed - it really hasn't - but because I needed some new clothes.

I'm not referring to anyone as I don't know who is running to Mike. But I'm sorry that whoever is has nothing better to do. The end.

Ugh...

I couldn't see the original picture... but Fluffy's pretty cute.

Awww... here's a cute little ankle nipper.

Let's face it. MFP is a soap opera and some self-selected users are the actors. Those who make themselves most conspicuous - "MFP celebrities," so to speak - should expect a certain amount of scrutiny and criticism. In general, anyone who posts content in the public domain should accept that it comes with attention and…

I recommend buying a yogurt that is 100% yogurt. The other stuff tastes like jello for a reason: it's full of gelatin, corn starch and other crap. No wonder it's so easy to pop Light 'n Fit and Yoplait Light like candy - it's not much different! Chobani and Fage 2% are available for $1.69-$1.99 per container. Yes, that…

Nothing with more than 2 ingredients. Mixed drinks are the fast lane to fat.
