  • If you had really long hair, 10 people a day would probably say something too. People notice big changes when we make them. When people say something nice to you they're probably just being nice. It's no secret that people all over the place want to be thinner, healthier. So they're just saying nice things about what they…
  • I like to do yoga poses to stretch out my back after working out. Go from Mountain> Downward Facing Dog> Cobra and repeat, SLOWLY, until you feel good and stretched. The Cat-Cow is also good for stretching your back.
  • Ok, I have a stupid question: If your Shine is synced to MFP- do you also enter your exercise on MFP or does the Shine log all exercise without you doing anything in the Exercise log on MFP?
  • Greetings from SC, ladies! Need all the support I can get and willing to support others as I can.
  • I'm in SC and have a very similar goal! Add me, and anybody else willing to add me it is appreciated!
  • I sent you a friend request. I'm in the same boat. If anyone else in this thread is willing, please add me too!
  • I'm in! I feel like I need to connect to more people here to keep motivated and learn more. I hope to offer the same in return. Look forward to getting to know you!
  • I listen to a wide array of music, but usually like energetic stuff like hip hop and funk for working out. I also listen to podcasts if I'm on the elliptical. This American Life, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Dan Savage's "Savage Love", and To the Best of Our Knowledge. If you don't know Songza, I like it better than Pandora.
  • This thread makes me so sad. So many people talking about how the people in their lives aren't supportive, or worse...even trying to make changing more difficult! It's very common for people to resist change in those they love. And they don't even consciously try to sabotage things, they just act according to what feels…
  • Whenever you feel embarrassed or lost at the gym, just tell yourself...."At least I'm here doing something healthy!" Everybody else there is working out their own struggles too. Even the best looking person there is working to maintain and improve their good health. Consult with your doctor and consider a referral for a…
  • Hey there- I had hip replacement about 1 yr ago and I started exercising again with water aerobics, coupled with weights. I also did the elliptical and cycling. You really do need to get a physical first and consult with your doctor before doing anything if you aren't sure. My doctor cautioned me about yoga after my…

  • Add me too. I'm new and not sure how this thing works, but I need some support!
  • It's seasonal. Trader Joe's has pumpkin EVERYTHING right about now. Pumpkin seeds with pumpkin pie spice/pumpkin ice cream sammiches, pumpkin waffles, pumpkin bread, you'll see. It's amazing.
  • Thanks everybody. I find that the instructors don't offer much and I can't expect them to really. They just say that I can modify any exercise as I need to feel comfortable and to stop if I feel any pain. I think this is all they can say without getting into liability issues. AllOut- I'm tracking food, though I'm not as…
  • Ok, ok, ok! I had my son at 42 and prior to that I rarely allowed photos of myself, not because of my appearance, but because I've always disliked the whole process of it all- being told to "SMILE!" and pose, and getting everyone in the same spot at the same time, and all of it. I've loosened up since my son was born so he…
  • Have you ever received help in a treatment facility specifically for eating disorders? The Hearth here in Columbia SC has a very qualified staff and all they do is treat eating disorders. Nothing else.
