Switching to maintenance is, in my opinion, way better than just ditching MFP for the holiday. Be gentle but firm with yourself. I suggest that you commit to logging in every single thing you eat on MFP every day. Get in the habit, and avoid the temptation to consider MFP the enemy--it's only a tool!!! I find that seeing the numbers has really helped in all kinds of ways...and I've got 245 straight logging days…

I've had the same goal, and am making progress. Rather than try to change my getting-up time by a huge increment all at once, I've been doing it gradually...more or less 5 minutes at a time.
