Wow, my stomach must have shrunk =s

I was doing so well! A colleague brought a big box of chocolates into the office today and I resisted, then I went out for dinner with my boyfriend and totally blew my calories for today =(
In the end I didn't even enjoy the meal as I was full after the starter, but because I'd already ordered the main course I ate some of it and ended up feeling really bloated and uncomfortable. It's only been 10 days but obviously my body is no longer happy eating a large portion.
I worked out when I came home to try and cancel out some of the excess calories but I couldn't even make it through the whole routine because I felt so bloated =(
Did anyone else find that they could no longer eat as much in one sitting once they started on MFP?

I'm experiencing that as well; Thanksgiving oughta be easy! MFP yells at me at the end of each day because I didn't eat enough calories, but I'm just not as hungry anymore!0

My epic appetite will be put to the test on Thursday. I don't suspect that my superhuman ability to eat myself sick has changed.0

YUP! It's crazy now, my stomach has shrunk a LOT. I had a lunch today that would probably have been a pre-cursor to the main event, but after eating it I actually felt sick! Saying that, I really love the feeling of it, not in a bad way, but I'm really happy I don't have to gorge myself to feel satisfied now :happy:0

I certainly have. Both quantity and quality matter now. It's kind of encouraging actually.0

Yeah for sure, I used to be a real glutton and quite well known for it in my family and circle of friends. If we ever went to an all you can eat buffet I would always joke that I'd get my monies worth. Went to one around a month ago and was very surprised at how little I can eat these days, I barely got through 2 plates of food and some sushi before feeling a bit ill. Must be a good thing though, no wonder people always looked at me funny0

I have absolutely noticed this! I am now more aware of how I feel after being completely stuffed, and it's easier to stop. Even for my "cheat" (I don't like that word) meals, I will stop because I just feel so gross and bloated eating a huge portion.0

Me either! I'm running a 5 mile Turkey Trot so I can eat... eat... eat:)!0

I just did this very thing Sunday night!!! Only I fixed supper- turkey meat with french fries- I had NOT gotten in my calories for the day so I did put on a "few extra" fries just so I could make sure I had the amount of calories I needed. Only I couldn't eat them all or the all of my turkey meat that I had! I gave the rest to my dog as she sat there patiently waiting for the left overs- well she got more then I thought I was gonna give her, but holy cow I felt horrible afterwards! Bloated is the right word! Even the next day I was still feeling it! This is one reason why I think I won't have as much trouble during the Thanksgiving dinners we will be going to as I thought I would. I plan on eating little amounts of what I want- and even gonna make a couple of "low calorie" items just for me! I am glad I am not the only one that has done this... Happy Thanksgiving!0

Yep, I would normally eat 2 fish tacos and huge servings of rice and beans when we went out, and now one fish taco and few bites of the others...0

I can eat just as much or more as I could before I joined MFP. My friends and family are constantly amazed by the sheer amount of food that I can pack away. My hubby actually brags to friends about how I can out eat him. lol
And stomachs don't actually shrink, it's a physically impossibility. What some people find is that after they stop eating over sized portions of food that their bodies adapt to sending a feeling of fullness with the normal portions instead of the oversized ones. But your stomach never actually gets smaller.0 -
Sadly, I can still eat massive amounts of food. I may feel horribly ill afterward but I don't tend to get that ill feeling until AFTER it's all been ingested. Ick. I HAVE to use portion out my food because I can't eyeball it. My eyeballs always want more.0

I had this for a while but then I slowed down a bit. I find it's best to chew lots too because that takes ages. Also I watch TV while i eat so that I've got something to do in between mouthfuls0 -
I went to a restaurant recently and had the same meal (a monthly special) that I've had several times before, but could not get through it all and felt very uncomfortable afterwards.0

Before, you were probably eating past the point of being full so your body stopped telling you that you were full.
Now, you've learned how to feel full. You don't ignore it. You feel full and you pay attention and stop eating. Your stomach might be the same size, but your brain has changed.0 -
This is kind of tangential to the topic, but I have noticed--espeically now that it takes so much less for me to feel full--that the feeling of being stuffed is something I unconsciously look for when I'm stressed out. Last week was a BEAR, coming to a head on the weekend, and I noticed that I was highly motivated to seek that "really full" sensation. That feeling is apparently wired to the "calming down" part of my brain.
Never noticed this before now...guess it took reaching a point where I am not overstuffed most of the time for me to see the pattern.0 -
I wish it was me. I can still eat half the pecan pie.
:sad:0 -
I don't know if I CAN'T but I DON'T, because I know I'll have to log it :P And I'm usually satisfied by a small portion so it hasn't been a huge issue. My issue is frequency, not portion control0

Thanks for the responses guys good to know I'm not alone in this side effect.0

I seriously agree! I have been doing MFP for almost a month now...I have been pretty good except on weekends I'll have some drinks (My Seahawks won the superbowl, I had to partake!) and then I'll try to eat what I used to crave...and end up feeling sick a few hours later. Even after a stressful day when all I want is fries, I know I'll have to log it so I try not to cave..but they few times I have..I have been able to eat WAY smaller portions than I used to. I find myself craving the foods mentally but not feeling physically hungry.0
-
I can still eat as much (Superbowl Sunday proved that), but afterwards, I feel gross... pregnant with food, for hours and hours, and sluggish for days. It also messes with my digestive system. I'm just now starting to feel normal again. To be fair it was kind of a whole weekend of excess. I logged it all. lol.0

I've noticed the same thing . . . it takes less to fill me up now than it did when I was at my heaviest. It's a good feeling!0
-
I see that this is an old post, but I'll answer anyway. Yes, when I try to eat as much as I used to, I feel really full and gross. I'm happy that I can now feel reasonably/comfortably full on less.0
