Making out a list/menu is important, especially if you're like me (if I didn't have a list I'd go in, say 'Oh that looks good!' to half the things I see, and buy way more than I really need or buy things that are just plain unhealthy). My boyfriend and I stop at several places, so I check sales ads before we go so we know…

I agree with others that your best bet is to use their website's nutritional information to build your sandwich with the exact ingredients you want. If you look there you will see that a 6" flatbread ALONE with no toppings is 220 cals. I never use the counts posted in the store/on their cups and napkins etc because they…

My boyfriend and I shop weekly at two grocery stores - we stop at Aldi first, then stop at a larger supermarket. I agree that the produce quality isn't always the best. However, we definitely sometimes find good deals, even in that section! They had 2lb containers of strawberries for $0.79 yesterday......we got 3. When we…

I personally think you aren't eating enough. Not eating enough will cause weight loss to stall. I'm a 5'6" woman and I eat 1400 a day......and I'm losing .5 to 2.5lbs a week. As a 6'1" man, I would think you'd need to be eating quite a bit more than me. Also, I've heard men shouldn't consume less than 1500 net calories a…

I do not have lupus, fibromyalgia, MS, or anything like that. (Though I certainly understand the limitations caused by such conditions - I have MS and fibromyalgia in my family). However, I have a complication of diabetes called diabetic retinopathy....essentially the small blood vessels in my retinas hemorrhage and bleed.…

If it was 460 calories, then you know right off the fat content wasn't listed right. 1 gram of fat is 9 calories. If your mac and cheese really had 100 grams of fat, then it would be 900 calories......at a minimum. That's without any protein or carbs. Sorry, what you found listed just wasn't correct at all.

Even the gross Velveeta crud is like 12-13g for a cup. What brand is 100g???

Started off the month at 143.5, then went up to 145. At that point I changed my intake (increased my cals) and got back to 143.5. Then I bumped it again (to lose half a lb a week instead of 1 lb)...and it had a great effect! Now at 142 lbs.

Make a healthy pizza! Here's what I do: Ingredients: 2 La Tortilla Low Carb/High Fiber Tortillas (Large) - 80 cals each! 2 oz. cheese of choice 1/3 cup pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce of choice Any and all veggies of your choice I lay down one tortilla, put down about 1/4 of the cheese, then lay the other tortilla on top.…

If you like it (I know a lot of people don't), cottage cheese. Have to watch out for the sodium though, so don't overdo it. Sometimes I make a breakfast burrito - La Tortilla Factory low carb/high fiber wrap filled with scrambled eggs, cheese, and turkey bacon. Top with a bit of salsa. Very good! And way better for you…

I bake mine in tin foil with homemade salsa on top. Yum!

MFP's dietary recommendations leave a lot to be desired. I've changed my goals for almost everything, including protein. My goal is 100g of protein a day. Protein isn't bad for you........

I'm having the same issue. Just in the past three weeks I've lowered my total daily dose of insulin from about 55 units a day down to 40-45 units a day, and I'm still having lows...so still adjusting things downward. I haven't touched my I:C ratios yet, just basals. Though I think my morning basal may still be too high…

I don't see why you couldn't. The calorie in/calorie out thing isn't an exact science, nor is the body 'reset' back to 0 at midnight. It's all about a cumulative effect.

I will be trying this tomorrow! I happen to have some tilapia in the freezer, and I went out tonight and raided the produce section for salsa ingredients. I plan on making salsa after work tomorrow........so this will definitely be my first recipe using the salsa! Thanks! And thanks to everyone else for the ideas...keep…

Some of these have been mentioned already but I think they're worth mentioning again! Tuna, salmon, tilapia - basically any fish Chicken Greek Yogurt Cottage Cheese La Tortilla Factory Low Carb/High Fiber Whole Wheat Tortillas (the large ones are 80 cals and have 8g protein...good option instead of a regular sandwich)

This is great advice. I'm not gluten-free but my boyfriend is and he almost never buys anything from the 'inside aisles' of the store.

Make a list for yourself of the products you can eat/do buy that way you can refer to it in the future. It will take a while at first, as you've seen - but soon it will get easier as you learn what to completely avoid and what you can definitely eat.

I used to be the same way and it was hard at first - I had to work my way up by increasing 1 cup (8 oz) a day. I am now at 9-10 cups a day. To remind myself I usually do 2 cups w/ breakfast, 1 w/ a light snack, 2 w/ lunch, 1 w/ a light snack, 2 w/ dinner, and 1 w/ my pills a bit later. I can drink more than this when I…

Definitely hoping you can get it under control! I also have found it hard to lose weight with all the insulin. Something I have noticed lately is that by lowering my carb intake (and eliminating a lot of simple sugars), I need less insulin overall....not just at meals, but even my basal/long acting insulin. In two weeks of…

I had the same thing happen to me. After losing only 6.5lbs.....I gained back 1.5. I gave it a few days, thinking it was water weight making the fluctuation...but my scale stayed there. A lot of my friends suggested I needed to eat MORE. It was scary, to say the least - I didn't want to GAIN more.........however, it was…

That's only part of it. There are MANY people here who aren't here to make a change in how they look. Rather they are here to learn how to get fit, how to eat right, to maintain their weight, or *SHOCKER* gain weight. It is NOT all about heavy people getting 'skinny'. And many of those who ARE heavy aren't getting skinny…

I make my own for myself simply because there's too much going on in terms of what we each can/can't/will/won't eat. I'm diabetic and that's a whole big deal, plus I'm trying to eat a really balanced diet. My boyfriend has gluten sensitivities AND irritable bowel syndrome, so is on a pretty restricted diet and does no…

Interesting! Thanks for sharing.

And on July 8......I've gained and am up to 145 again. I don't know how or why :(
