I have lost a considerable amount of weight, but as a heavy guy I still eat a lot in a day. Now that people started to notice i lost weight I get funny looks when I don't think twice about eating a piece of cake, or something else that isn't categorized as "diet" food. Advice doesn't bother me though, i take it for what it…

Like the above poster I eat an avacodo almost daily, it is nearly 250 calories and high in fat (the good kind), oh yea and most importantly it tastes great!

No exercise here, only limiting cal intake, definately want to start doing some cardio + weight training soon though. I monitor the following macros: carbs, protein, fat and sodium. Don't really pay much attention to the other areas such as sugar.

I started at 365 pounds at a height of 5 foot 5 inches. I began by eating around 2700-2800 calories on MFP, now that has reduced to about 2400. I know 3800 calories sounds like alot but it could be accurate, assuming you are a fair bit taller than myself. Good luck, this site is great for motivation!

Congratulations!! That is a major accomplishment, must feel good :)

^^ditto. Feel free to add me as well.

Am I the only one who would have eaten the birthday cake and not felt guilty about it?

Not sure if it is directly relevant to your question, but check out the benefits of a high protein breakfast. http://ahha.org/BreakfastProtein-Hunger.htm

The bees knees, it's made with palm oil - no trans fat but high in saturated fat, similar to cheese.

BUMP. Going to come back to this in about a year!

Welcome to MFP, good luck man!

I agree with everyone else, eat what you want in moderation. But I will try to avoid certain foods that I know are triggers, these include soda and chips.

I agree with the above posters, too early to tell and not enough info without seeing diary, congrats on the first 12 lbs!

^^ this.

congrats, amazing dedication!

Not a professional, but i am seeing a nutritionist regularly. Just a suggestion, but maybe try changing your macronutrient percentages to see if that helps. I also agree with the above poster maybe you need some more calories. Good luck, plateus are tough!

Congrats on the awesome numbers! Very Inspiring!

xLyric, Let me be more specific MFP calculated 2400 cals/day for me to lose 1 lb a week my nutritionist wanted me to eat 1800 cals. This is crazy to me that's 600 cals a day less than I eat now, and I am losing weight safely. And yes, in the past I have exercised however I have been unable to exercise for the past two…

I have recently adopted this philosophy and it is working great for me too! It is really crazy to me that more people don't adopt this way of eating it is so much easier to maintain and there are fewer plateaus! I have seen multiple nutritionists now and none of them have ever thought eating more to lose weight is a good…

That's amazing and great inspiration, I started at a similar weight and have a similar 1 year goal! Thanks for posting your success story!

Ok, the reason I ask is that I understand your concern about losing weight safely. I have yo-yo dieted myself for years and I want to make sure I lose weight the right way! I have found that measuring body fat is an easy way of ensuring that I am losing weight "safely." I think what is meant by losing weight unsafely,…

Do you have a scale that measures body fat percentage?

Hi, I am about the same height and about 30 lbs heavier than you. MFP calculated a calorie intake of about 2400 calories for me to lose 1 pound a week. My experience is that if I eat at that level I lose closer to 2.5 to 3 lbs per week, which is about the maximum safe amount of weight loss for someone my weight. So I would…

I go to a nutritionist and she actually mentioned that to me, but the way she described it is that it is something you might try after developing a balanced diet and good habits, not something you would do to lose weight.

Feel free to friend me, i started at 365 (HW) and 345 (MFP HW) and am 309 (CW) now. So Still in the 300+ lb club hoping to get out as soon as possible!
