That's for sure. People give up on exercise. I. AmThinking of getting an elliptical machine to add to my home gym. Woups rather do that than pay a membership.
-
I read mixed reviews online and it's expensive so I would b more interested in an elliptical.

Nice to see that you all enjoy being active! This is the first year (from September 2014 til now, Jan 2015) that I have exercised so much outdoors in the winter and I'm loving it!

No, don't get bored zinarhose. I know the temptation there but i look at how much i have reshaped my body and i want to go the whole nine yards. Is there something you would like to try exercise or food wise that would inspire u?

Do you work a lot of hours or have children/parents to look after? Try to incorporate your children into exercise if so, for walks or at home soccer games. Exercise is important not just for losing weight but for health in general. I'm not one to get up early but if that was the only way to get my exercise I would. I have…

I'm glad to see you have a lot of responses to boost you up! Don't despair because we all have the ability to be successful at weight loss! I have lost 70 pounds since Jan 2014 and years ago I used to think I would slide back to bad habits and be fat forever. Wrong! I changed my attitude and decided to exercise every week,…

Being outside is a fun way to go! In the winter, I'm doing hiking and loving it even on pretty darn cold days. Cycling for summer and hiking for winter. Just started doing dragon boat (paddling) practices in a pool. Check out what's out there in your rec centres too. Ours have water bikes and lots of interesting activities.

You are definitely a success! Way to go! I also started last new year's day 2014 and I've lost 71 pounds so far and still going full steam ahead. About 20-30 more for me to lose but a success all the way and so are you. You look great and I know you feel great. Congratulations!
-
Thank you for sharing! You've made a wonderful transformation - it helps me to envision my results ahead of me. You look fantastic - you must feel that way too! So far I have lost 70 pounds but the next 20-30 pounds should really resculpt my body yet again. How was the experience for you?
-
So what kinds of exercise do all of you like to do? Any new goals for the new year?

Goodmomkim, if your friends are busy try the website www.meetup.com. Every city has meetup groups and a variety of them, depending on your interests. There are hiking groups, dining groups, people interested in concerts or plays, crafts....You will never be bored if you join a couple.

I'm kind of surprised that a dietician would set a low 1300 calories as enough to get nutrition. Did she set a limit of time for that? MFP wanted me to reset my goals after losing the last 10 pounds, which would have put my calories down lower and I said no. I hike a lot so I don't want to decrease my calories unless I…

A counsellor recommended hiking and I thought I would try it even though I have a heel spur. Sure sometimes my foot gets sore but mostly I have improved endurance and fitness and last night the sunset was so beautiful I was so glad I was out enjoying the trail! We saw a group of deer too! I needed something to replace my…

I started out as a 42-44 DD and now i'm a single 40 D and sometimes a C cup. At first it was strange to see them smaller but I'm liking the new size because it means the rest of me is smaller too - 70 pounds off this year. The butt is definitely smaller but flatter rather than round so I would like to round it as it…

I cycled a lot in the summer and lost weight that way. Totally enjoyed being on my bike for a couple hours at a time. I did it on weekends and weekdays. Now it's the stationary bike and a lot of hiking. I'm hoping hiking will keep me prepared for cycling in the spring.

I like the feel of smooth silky legs so for my own preference I shave every day even in the winter. I do think there is beauty in the natural state of a woman as far as having hair under the arms and pubic hair but I shave under the arms too. I don't think we should be pressured though to feel unwomanly if we don't shave.

I started out eating about 1900 calories when i started this year. I've lost 68 pounds. Now I'm at 1700. I can't see myself ever going to as low as 1300. I work out usually 4 to 6 times a week. How often do you work out and how long are you working out?

Wow. That sounds treacherous. There are some trails I wouldn't do at night. I have done one that had steep hills and roots and rocks to dodge, and some mud.

Never give up on yourself. I have had large stocky calves and shins for years. Now that I have lost a lot of weight I can definitely see and feel the difference in my legs. They truly are resculpted, and will change more. I thought I was doomed to have large lower legs. It doesn't matter what gimmicky term they use to…

We use headlamps. I know what u mean about feeling uneasy ViolaLee. The first time my hubby and I tried it alone it felt a bit eerie but mostly I go with a group.

I'm 58. Been through menopause and it was just a blip, some hot flashes but nothing major. I'm determined to lose more weight this month and next year til I get to that point of comfort. Total loss this year is 68 so far and it's made a huge difference in my life. I will never go back. I feel more adventurous and I love…

I walk in a group. There's often a dozen of us or more so I feel safe. It's great being in the woods with headlamps. A totally different way to experience nature and get fun exercise.

How about seeing a nutritionist through your doctor? You are not eating meals. It's not binge eating when you don't eat breakfast, have only soup for lunch, and a piece of chicken for dinner and then want something else. That is starvation.
-
Instead of hiking I cycled on my stationary bike for 30 mins, then worked out about 20 mins with my kettlebell weights, then walked on my treadmill for 30 mins

Welcome to the site. Very sorry to hear about your son. It's good that you are trying to do something healthy for yourself. What do you think of as working out? Maybe you need a different kind of exercise than what you have been used to, to get you motivated. If you have always worked out alone before, maybe you need group…

When you see that new body in the mirror, it's amazing almost every time. I may never take that for granted. I still have more to lose so I will see changes for some time. It may take years for me to get accustomed to the new me. I love it!
-
My advice is not to worry how much you think you need to lose. Just take each day at a time. You don't have to think ahead so far. Just enjoy your exercise and healthy food and if you want to lose more you will. You obviously had tons of determination to get this far with your weight loss and you have done a fantastic job!…

I have felt nervous about temptations like Christmas. But I am doing enough activities now to at least maintain over the holidays. And even lose weight. The important thing is to find an alternative exercise as you suggested while your other gym is closed. I do hiking during the day and even night hiking with a head lamp…

Succeeding at our weight goals gives us great satisfaction but make sure you are also doing other things in your life for fun and satisfaction. Very important to not just focus on weight. Call up a friend, join a meetup group, visit family. www.meetup.com is not a dating site, it's a variety of groups from hiking to crafts…

It's great, isn't it! A whole different feeling, being outside at night, sometimes in the snow or just in the cold.
