It may sound crazy but I go night hiking with a headlamp. On a bike trail or forest, with either my husband or a hiking group I joined. And I try to snack on fruit or veggies with hummus dip.

Hugely motivating pictures! I am so curious about how much I can eventually trim my waistline and your tropical pics make me realize how much I can actually accomplish.

I have lost 68 pounds this year and intend to lose more. Why? Because being as heavy as I was I didn't have the energy I wanted and my blood sugars were too high. I also wanted to look leaner in my clothes. Having said that, I understand why you only want to go so far in your weight loss. That is the weight you have…

I am still in the losing phase, not maintenance yet. I know I will never be satisfied with 1200 calories and I'm no nutritionist but I doubt that you can get what a healthy active woman needs with so few calories. When I do hours of hiking at a time I never usually eat all those calories I'm allowed but I do eat when I'm…

Fantastic! What kind of exercise did you do? I'm so looking forward to getting more fat off my stomach and you aced it!

Doing more exercise, and not always by myself. I made exercise social, by joining a couple hiking groups. It's great to be with people who are eager to be active and enjoy the outdoors and get out there regularly, in all kinds of weather. I stopped being a fair weather exerciser.

Sometimes we binge because of a trigger. Try to remove that temptation. Remember that you have new habits now that will help you lose more weight than you gain. Don't be too hard on yourself. Appreciate how far you have come. If you were like me binge days used to be a norm but now exercise is the norm. Try planning a…

Sugar is an evil for me too. In fact I'd rather use whipped cream and fruit if I have pancakes, since maple syrup is high in natural sugar. I started doing that when my son was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. I've overloaded on cookies and other carbs in the past so being really successful to me means cutting back on…

Exercise is now a priority because it's fun. Being out in the forest hiking is one of my favorite ways to spend time. I'm willing to try things I wouldn't have considered before. Night hiking with headlamps with a group or with my husband is something I didn't know was a possibility before. Now I want to try kayaking. I…

I can understand that feeling. I don't want to be too rigid but I am very dedicated to getting this fat off and keeping it off.

I think this change of weather made me feel like hibernating and squirreling some extra food lol. I got right back on my bike tonight. Thanks for your reply. When I evaluate my weight gain I think that having a temporary setback is one of the most important parts of the journey. It's part of the evolution from fat person…

I've been losing since January of this year and I'm still amazed that my body has resculpted the way it has. Changes in my shins, thighs, arms, hips...I'm so pleased when I see a pic of myself and don't see my fat self anymore. I'm about 20 pounds away from my goal and looking forward to more changes. I'm glad you are…

I hiked last Sunday when it was snowing and it was beautiful. This week has been a bit too nippy for me but I intend to go again this weekend.

I found that exercising 4 times a week as a minimum for 30 to 40 minutes worked for me. Calorie intake has been about 1700 daily. And I keep lots of veggies and fruit in the fridge at all times. I also have hard boiled eggs in the fridge to grab as a snack. I cleaned out my pantry right from the start so I wouldn't have…

A general question. What are the flags and quotes used for?
-
Yep, I have done a few sections of the Bruce trail and love it. I look forward to trying new ones all the time. I even bought a guide that shows all the sections.

Keep hydrated. Sometimes when I don't drink enough water or get enough sleep I notice more lines. I realize as I lose weight that I am showing more wrinkles in my face but I would rather enjoy being outdoors and exercising than have a younger plumper face and be in front of the tv every night overeating like I used to. I…

I have lost 68 pounds so far this year and my advice is to find an exercise you really enjoy and you will want to keep with it. It will become a priority. Be patient with yourself and you will make the changes you need to make forever. The process is more enjoyable than you think.

I just googled it. Sounds like they have more tread to them

Tell me about trail runners. I haven't heard that term

We buy pre chopped veggies and take them out for snacks and meals. It's my successful way of getting more veggies, which to me was usually difficult.

I guess it depends on how much you have to lose as far as calories taken in per day. I have never eaten as low as 1250 and I intend to lose 20 more pounds, having lost 70 pounds so far this year. But I do a fair bit of exercise. I do something about 5 or 6 times a week and if it's hiking, I do it for usually 2 hours at a…

It's snowing out now and I wish I were out hiking in it instead of being at work.

I haven't tried layering up to bicycle yet in the cooler weather but I have considered it. I think part of the enjoyment of cycling in the summer was the sunshine and warm temperatures.
-
Thanks for all your replies. Hiking burns more calories than walking too, because of the effort of hills and obstacles on the forest paths. I'm hooked! So far I haven't found a need to join a gym because I cycled in the summer and did water aerobics and since the weather got cooler i have been hiking. All have helped me…

Do you live in Ontario? If so, do you have favorite spots to hike? I tend to like forested areas with lots of hills. Any suggestions are appreciated

You look amazing and perky and ready to take on your new life! Great hair style and smile! Congratulatons!

I honestly do prefer this healthier lifestyle. My body feels the difference with better fuel to run it. I'm loving my activities such as hiking and cycling outdoors. They're fun, and a way to explore and I couldn't have done so much walking and cycling eating cookies and potato chips. My muscles are strong now and they…

Fantastic! You look beautiful! Always nice to hear from someone who has done the long struggle and made it. It's very inspiring to see the transformation. I have lost 65 pounds so far, most of it using MFP. Sometime next year I expect to reach my ultimate goal. So far I can't believe the difference when I look in the…

I have also lost 60 pounds. It's an incredible feeling. You must feel so positive! Feel free to add me.
