  • It is strange April73,,, my intake is lower than it was. I guess I am concerned about trying to up it too in the near future. If I stick to the 'good' foods I never make my calorie intake. I am a little concerned about having some high caloric foods such as nuts because although they are healthy options I am scared I could…
  • I do find that when my arthritis is not spiking and I use the treadmill my appetite does increase. Sadly I can't predict the arthritis pain spikes. I can go weeks with limited pain and weeks spiking. Bit frustrating but you learn to live with it.
  • Actually just started coconut oil today for my arthritis and I automatically panicked about the calories. Guess I have gotten so used to finding the lowest caloric options. Thanks
  • Oh well. I guess some folks are not as fragile as I was at first. I try not to put everyone in the same basket because regardless of similarities, each persons history and journey are different. I guess it is okay for me to disagree. Let's face it, I was given different rules to follow re protein intake than most on here.…
  • I fail miserably at this rule. I drink with some meals, before after or during. I am bad at chewing and eat to quickly. But I am improving from early days.
  • Congratulations on your results so far. For the first time I have actually noticed this phenomenon personally. I had lost good numbers on the scales but clothes sizes were slower to move,,they did but didn't seem to match the scales in my mind. Now this month,,,lower loss but down another size or so in clothes. People…
  • My BMI was over 51. I guess they are using the stats for their opinions. I was told if I was 10kg more they would have recommended RNY instead. But my GP was very surprised last week that I had exceeded 40kg loss. I guess he reads stats too. However, there are folk on here who had a much higher BMI than even me and they…
  • I guess I am glad I am 5 months out and settled on my own journey too but I would hate to have seen this comment early on when I was fragile and it is important to not forget how things were when we were learning how to get the best out of our sleeve and basically learning what we wanted from it. I agree that some of the…
  • Sorry your struggling with a stall. I was just wondering if your nutritionist set you at 900 this early on? Many of us are on 80 and I know for myself the first month I struggled to get 500. At present, 5 months out I can be anywhere between 600-800. But of course whatever your Dr tells you to do is what he/she thinks is…
  • I don't find this a supportive comment, sorry. Some people are going to struggle with certain components of this lifestyle and what I love about this forum is that it is ok to struggle and ask for help. The last thing we want to do is scare people and stop them for asking for advice and a bit of support when things are…
  • LOG LOG LOG..................it is my saving grace. I log all food,,,even if I have the occasional taboo food, it is logged. The reason I do this is that in the past with diets, if I slipped up once I convinced myself that 'oh well I have slipped up, so might as well go the whole hog". Always a bad habit. But with the…
  • Congratulations on your progress and welcome. This forum is so supportive and you can ask anything.
  • I was absolutely terrified and shaking as I lay on the table. Now,,,,,as for you,,,,,,,,,,,,,this is THE day. So excited for you. It all starts now. HUGS.............
  • Wow,,,great challenge. I am a slave to my scales so I certainly admire you. Go for it.
  • I have two ways of thinking about trigger foods in the house. I have mentioned in a past post that within hours of discharge my husband dragged me to McDonalds (we were in India and he wanted beef badly and soit was McDonals). Now I was of course of juice boxes and had one with me at all times. I sat there while he stuffed…
  • I have been experiencing this too but had not gotten around to finding out the reason. I have checked my bp and it is fine. I am not diabetic. So I guess it must be low salt. I suspect I do not get quite enough. Will try that.
  • I don't think anybody was trying to be dishonest. In fact I have written about my first few days pain in past posts. If anybody asks about the first few days post surgery, I know people here answer honestly according to their experience. Some folk on here even felt as though they had had no surgery done as they had no pain…
  • Wondering how you went?
  • Your so right Choppy. Until you live obesity you cannot imagine the victories achieved when the weight comes off. I am still obese in bmi but I just don't feel it anymore. I posted recently about throwing out my lifetime. My belt extender for flights. I haven't flown without it yet but cannot wait to pull that little…
  • Your right, you don't have to have it. That's true of so many things in our lives. BUT, although I can't guarantee you will be happy, I feel like I can almost promise if you don't you will regret it in a little while. If you can find the $250, then I wholeheartedly feel you can do this. But as Pat said, if it not the right…
  • Your going to do great. Mangopickle is right,,,measure and weigh everything. You'll get used to doing it,,you will almost start doing unconsciously. My scales do not leave my kitchen bench. After some time getting your head around things you will start to have favourite foods and you will make them easily and fast once you…
  • Just the bodies way of repairing after such trauma and making sure it is ready for the long haul. Frustrating,,,but it will break. Promise.
  • I have watched your ticker go from 0-23lb down in a matter of weeks. I can't imagine it happened all by itself. You have done your research and you have asked questions.
  • :-) Let is wash over you,,,your achievement is no little feat. Your hard work has paid off. Do you ever look in the mirror OR walk past a window and question if that was really you? I do all of the time. I am not sure I will ever get used to this new reflection.
  • Amazing. Thank you for sharing such an important mini milestone. I share that same mini goal of 100lb lost and your post gives me plenty to be looking forward to. I also have a similar further loss to be in healthy bmi. I am not sure what I might do about loose skin yet but I will leave that up to how I feel at the time I…
  • Haven't really noticed any changes. But sometimes I just don't feel like meat or egg so cheeses come on to the menu. Chicken certainly caused problems early on but not now. I don't eat chocolate or potato chips, but not because I don't want it. I can get sick of some foods but leave them for a while and happy to have again.
  • Hi. Sorry to hear about your tough journey. I know some with similar ' falling off the wagon' stories have told of their success after starting again. Basically they take themselves right back to phase one post op to restart everything. They might be able to tell you some more. Good luck. Your first step is already in…
  • I just can't get the smile off my face with this post. Actually I had a little teary moment. 191lbs!!
