  • you're not wasting anybody's time by posting your numbers :) I'm sure you did great Jamie!
  • sorry no stairs for me yet. It's almost 80 here today and I want to bike but I don't want to skip a day of lifting either. I'm thinking I'll gamble that tomorrow is nice enough to bike as well. Its supposed to rain a lot at the end of the week so I smell another trip up some stairs.
  • Nice job, I won't be back inside for a few days but I was out on the bike last night and this morning. 41 miles between the two trips. in about 2.5 hours. Not too bad :)
  • Nice Job Jamie!
  • That is epic!
  • A protein shake always helps me. I take them after my intense workouts and it helps a lot with recovery. I like the soreness though sometimes. It forces me to stretch more and loosen up and it also tells me I had a good workout. I know if I'm not sore I didn't push myself hard enough in some aspect so I'll look to reduce…
  • You can do it Jamie. If you listen to music, which I think you told me do, make a playlist of your favorite longer songs. I found that the longer songs that I can go along with make the time disappear like mad. Great job on the lower weight too!
  • I use the stair master as well ( revolving stairs). Jamie, here's a tread climber http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5NUNYU-9ao Welcome to the group!
  • Don't feel bad. If it weren't for bad days we wouldn't have good days. Just use it as motivation to push harder next time. :) You're doing great!
  • Welcome to the challenge. Be careful going backwards. I've tried it a few times and while it is impressive and probably changes your muscle groups a little but there is a higher chance of getting hurt by falling backwards onto the machine. Looking forward to your first post.
  • I don't wear a HRM but I wish I had one. I've been trying to convince myself to spend a few buck on one lately but haven't been able to. I try to take the calorie counters with a grain of salt. I did see much higher numbers on the treadmill at full incline for an hour vs the stairmaster for an hour. However, my drenched…
  • I agree, I bought one of these for when I bike too. I hope I never had to use it but its one of the things you'd rather have and not need than need and not have. I found this code when I bought mine that will save anybody $2 instead of the $1 off codes going around the web like candy. ARR5783 Enter it in when you're paying…
  • I added the weights to get the extra core exercise. It was less about cardio and more about body control. It's very difficult with out the rails and takes a lot more focus. It was fun but I haven't done it for quite awhile.
  • Thanks! Our stairmaster goes from level 1-20. Last week when I did an hour it was on level 8. Last night when I did 30 minutes I went up to level 11. It was way way way faster than I expected. I was sweating more on that than I do for an hour trip on level 8.
  • Just go for it. I actually thought the opposite and stayed away because it looked to easy and I was acting macho about it. It's an awesome workout. Last night during my 30 minute trip I was dying. I increased the intensity A LOT. My fiance was on the treadmill behind me and every time I had to take a 30 second break she…
  • Missed the bike today because of some bad weather. Hit the gym with my fiance instead. Here's my numbers. I went for less time and higher intensity. It was way harder than I expected. Floors: 152 Time: 30 Minutes Distance: 3.18 Miles
  • That's awesome! You're doing better every time. I won't be back on the stairs until monday or tuesday because I'll be out biking this weekend. Have a great weekend.
  • nice work!
  • I know you'll get a million different answers but my best suggestion for finding the right stuff is don't forget about taste and mix ability. Some of them taste horrible and/or don't mix well. You might spend a tad more to get started but you'll know what you like if you try a smaller pack at first, then you aren't stuck…
  • definitely don't add sugar. You're right about that. Honey is find but don't go nuts with it. Fruit is also great. I use old fashioned style quick oats, which are plain, then add my chocolate protein powder. It tastes pretty good and is a great way to start me day.
  • That's awesome. Great work! I told you the towel would help. Honestly I felt good afterwards. I hate the first 15 minutes more than the last. It's so hard to motivate to get going and the first part drags by but once I'm going I just keep trucking along. I did take a few short 30 second breaks to stretch quick but I…
  • Just got home. It was quite the trip. It's always hard to start the stairmaster but tonight was by far my best yet. Flights: 250 Time: 60 Minutes Distance: 5.2 Miles
  • I hope that was a typo otherwise I want to meet your trainer...
  • Why not instead of making lunch from scratch every day you spend one or two nights a week getting things ready. Then all you'll have to do is reheat them and you're good to go. Otherwise. I use things like lean cuisines, michelenas, etc. They're nothing special but they're enough for lunch. I try to take it easy at lunch…
  • Just keep it covered up and check on it every 5-10 minutes as you need to. I use a program to vary the speed so I keep an eye on things to make sure I don't get surprised by anything but some long songs on the ipod and not watching the clock makes it go by pretty fast.
  • That's why its a friendly competition. You're halfway there. Its a brutal machine. I have to cover the display with my towel or I'd never make it half way.
  • I think you're both right. Doing some cardio to warm up, then lifting, then doing some more after is a great way to go. You burn way more calories with your heart rate up. I think what the other poster is saying is don't do heavy weight training and heavy cardio on the same day. Alternate instead. I usually aim for an hour…
  • Deviation is right. The scale has a pretty large margin of error (about 5%) but its still a good starting point.
  • You can still use the app to log things without internet access. Then when you get back. Open the app while you're online so it can sync up and you should be good to go. :)
  • You don't even have to google it. Click tools at the top of the page in MFP and you can see your BMI right there. I wouldn't get too caught up in it though. It's a very generalized calculation. Instead I would head to walmart/target/whatever and pick up a scale that can calculate body fat %. Focus on improving that…
