Recently turned 40, and back on the wagon...again... Super stoked because hubby is finally behind me and joining me in work outs! My work outs will consist of Jason Blaha's Ice Cream Fitness 3 days a week, Yoga 2 days a week, and Zumba 1 day. My goal is to feel more confident, have more energy and just look better (in time…

I shot you an invite - I'm just starting back into it too!! I didn't lose anywhere near what you did, but the small loss I had I gained back when I stopped logging....so I'm back at it. Starting out with reduced carbs and now bumping them up and adding work outs (about 100g) including zumba, yoga and ice cream fitness…

I use my cals like a check book. I'm set to eat 1550, and usually do well with this number...but if I know I have a night out coming up on Saturday I will build in an additional deficit (usually 100 cals per day - so Monday thru Friday allows me to build up 500 additional cals that I can use at my event). Like wise.. if I…

Not looking to mentor nor be adopted....I just have a question and I thought this might be a good thread with lots of knowledgeable people :) Previously when using MFP I was able to customize my macro percentages (ie: i was able to have carbs reflect a lower goal number, etc). Some how when I came back after an extended…

I have found that my body seems to function better when I am not very low carb. I did the really low carb thing for about a week to get into ketosis, but then I added a serving of beans to my taco salad and noticed that my body felt much better the following day...so rather then aiming for around 20g, I bumped it to 50g…

I will have him double check next lift day Nancy...that thought never occurred to me either! Thanks!

My hubby was able to watch me and noted that I kind of lean to my right when I come up....so I'm thinking since I'm left side is dominant that my left is taking up the bulk of the work. I will definitely try to one leg squats, I was kind of thinking of trying something like that, but wasn't sure if it would have any…

ok...as far as customizing. Go to goals, then click on change goals. You will get the choice between custom and guided. Guided will have you enter your stats and select amount of weight you want to lose/gain, and will give you recommended cals/day. This splits the calories between fat, protein, and carbs (I cant recall the…

um, I probably would not recommend 1200 cals #1 due to your current weight and #2 due to the fact that you are pregnant. 1200 cals would put you in to large of a deficit and you will start losing weight, which I'm guessing your doc would not "approve" of. I am 5'3 215 and I lose at 1650 cals per day....I'm not sure what…

I started out wanting to lose 95 lbs, and I still have about 70 to go. I started off like a shot, and then my conviction wavered. I am slowly jumping back into the game! In fact today is my first day back in the logging game. MFP does work, as long as you do the work! Good luck with adding in exercise, every step counts!!!…

I hope that I never get quite this serious about calorie counting. It seems like it may be a miserable existence. But now that you know what you know...you can make adjustments, but I don't think that 30 calories is derailing ones weight loss...umm...good luck!

I have an ex friend who would consume MASSIVE amounts of meet in one sitting (sometimes coupled with other things)..I mean like 44 oz prime rib, etc..ewww! About 30 minutes after completing his meal he would get really sweaty and very red in the face, and it would last for about an hour or so. So based on my experience I…

well my home scale is mean, and my gym scale is much gentler! So perhaps some of the difference that your experiencing is strictly based on the calibration of the scales.

When I was nursing and felt like my supply dwindled, I started eating oatmeal every day!! And I drank "oatmeal tea" - boil like 3-4 cups of water, add a handful of oatmeal and let it cook down, then drain the water off the oatmeal into a cup. It taste just like you would think it should, but at times has a thicker…

yes, what he said!

Never tried paleo but did atkins a while back....for me, it was difficult for the first week or so, and then the cravings for "forbidden" foods subsided.

Yes I am in the same boat as you. I recently took hiatus from logging and exercising (about a 4 month long break) and happily I was able to maintain my previous loss. Exercise just plain makes me feel better, have more energy, and allows me the chance to have a few or even several adult beverages with out sacrificing…

I couldn't read thru all the responses. But I found then when I first started watching my intake, I would be starving in between meals...what I found helped is that rather then doing 3 meals and a snack a day, I generally do breakfast, early lunch, late lunch, dinner, snack. Good job keeping up protein, but also work…

It may seem harder with not going the medifast route, but hopefully the slow and steady approach will help re-shape your eating habits and have better long term success!

Someone gave me some advise, and I cant remember how they worded it.. but in summation : imagine that in 1 years time you could be closer to your goal or weight loss/health/energy, or in that same 1 years time you could be where you are today wishing that you'd stuck with it..

I like a home salad bar....every couple of days chop up items that you would add to a good dinner salad (chicken, chickpeas, olives, tomato, egg....you get the idea) and keep those in Tupperware or baggies. Throwing a salad together is easy, and they can be quite filling!

also because you may find yourself cramming ingredients into the measuring cup with no real idea of the proper portion ie: shredded cheese...I could probably pack about 1/2 cup serving into a 1/4 size.. Yeah I from Wisconsin and I have a cheese problem ;) If you are just starting off and have a fair bit to lose, you will…

I personally don't understand the desire to log this. As others have stated the "burn" really occurs over the course of a week or 2...It seems, to me, that you would be shortchanging your deficit on donation day if you log this, unless you divide it out over the course of 10 or so days, and then its such a minimal amount…

Today is my day one back to the grind, heading back to the gym for the first time since Sept. You have to just make a plan and JUMP! Shake of the bad days, start with a clean slate every day...and remind your self that the decisions you make will determine your success. So go over one day, and then remind yourself that you…

Not a single parent, but we get so busy it feels like I am at times!! I prefer working out in the morning, its nice to get it in before you start your day (when you do have some time to yourself). I felt it like it gave me a little more energy for the morning too. PM work outs after the kids have gone to bed have a way of…

I can not say that I stuck with it, but once I shed more of my weight I intend on giving it another go. One thing that I would recommend if you are wanting to start running is to search out running threads on here (I wish I could remember the name, but there is one that is like the top 10 things every new runner should…

I think the concern is that you don't have any real protein in your diet, and very little variety on vegetables....I know me personally....if I ate a diet close to yours would find myself starved even though hitting 1400-1500 cals that you listed, and would find myself losing faith that MFP works in a way that would help…
