Down 89 lbs. Goal weight reached. Now focusing on fitness/strength training goals.

Thank you  Weight lifting is the way to go for sure

Take a picture of yourself in the mirror and compare it to one that someone else took of you from the front. Notice the differences.

Down 89 lbs. SW 224 lbs, met my goal of 135 lbs over Christmas holidays. Still some weight to lose to look the way I want, but i'm focusing now on fitness goals, especially around lifting.

No. They will give you no long term benefits. Eat at a deficit, and the weight will come off. Sure it may come off slower than you'd like, but it will come off. Be patient.

Yes, anything in moderation. No food is forbidden. I've lost 86 lbs. and yes I exercise, primarily strength training.

Congrats on getting back at it. Great losses so far. Be careful you don't lose too fast though, don't want to mess up your health. Great original post BTW.

Your body needs rest when you are sick. The few days or week you are sick won't totally derail you. Take the rest you need, and come back at it healthy and strong when you feel better. Hope you feel better soon!

Losing 86 lbs of insulation means I'm now freezing all the time.

A lot of women lift where I live. Not 50/50, but still alot.

I'm not 45, but consider myself older at 41. I've been lifting for just over a year and love it. Wish I had started sooner.

Awesome!

Congrats! I'm pretty close as well and can't wait :)

Gorgeous

I agree with those above, strength training has done wonders for my body. I lost 40 lbs with cardio alone, but never saw as much physical changes as I did after starting lifting. I lost 45 more after beginning lifting. I wish I had started lifting sooner.

If there's a chance that you won't be allowed to participate in the meet without one that is approved, I'd just cough up the money and buy it. Not worth missing out on the meet over a belt, especially given you know in advance that it's not an approved one.

Wish there was a like button.

When I began lifting, the scale stalled (no movement) for 6-7 weeks. After that the weight started to drop off consistently. I've seen big changes in my body since I began lifting over a year ago. Wish I had started lifting sooner.

Depends on what you like. For lifting, my playlist is mostly five finger death punch, volbeat, ACDC, etc.

I'm a mom of 3 and work full time as well. Here's what I do to get my exercise in: - go to the gym over my lunch hour, if my work schedule permits - go to the gym at night after the kids go to bed - I put in a power cage and bench in the garage to lift at home those times i can't make it to the gym - take the kids out for…

So happy to see I'm not the only FFDP fan on here. My lifting playlist is primarily heavy metal, mostly FFDP, volbeat and other bands mixed in. Cardio is a more upbeat playlist.

Skip the gloves. Calluses are just a part of lifting. I find gloves throws off my grip too much. Would rather have the calluses than drop a bar on my head :)

WTH? LOL. Browsing through all the cute/funny posts and then this. Yikes. That's just creepy.

I felt the same way when I joined the gym....then after finally manning up and hitting the weights section, I realized that no one cares what anyone else does at the gym. Everyone is focused on getting in, doing their own workouts and getting out again. Seriously, no one is going to be staring at you, thinking wow she's a…

I've lost over 80 lbs eating what I want in moderation. My diary is open too. If anyone ever commented id kindly say to myob, my journey is my own. They'd get one pass then unfriend if they continued to police me

Started this journey about 20 months ago with 87ish lbs to lose. Down 83 at this point. No goal deadline, just worked slow and steady to get here
