  • How apportioned amounts? I like to use Kewpie Deep-Roasted Sesame dressing, which is 43 kcal for 10 ml... it's a lot, but a tablespoon goes a long way. Is there are particularly strong flavoured dressing you could use a little of? ... Sometimes I end up drinking the dressing because it's delicious, but normally it works.
  • Is it possible to get healthier things to eat? Making healthy versions of the things you like to eat could mean you'd have more to eat for less calories. If eating is a physical comfort, maybe you could play around to see which parts of it are comforting? For example, if it's something warm you're after, some hot water…
  • Thank you, I needed to read this today!
  • Get the basic utensils (knife, pan, cuttingboard, spatula or spoon large enough to get hot things out of pan) and then it's good to get the basics like garlic, onion and a couple of chili (depends on taste, but they tend to add taste to everything). Salt, pepper, oil. Stove. Look up some videos about knifeskills. I'd…
  • The problem is that marriage is for life. Life can be tough. People can get sick, they can have accidents, they can decide to do difficult things and need support. The thing is, if he's falling at the first hurdle - i.e. he can't propose until you're at the right weight for him to be properly attracted by your body - what…
  • You sound very, very tense! If being tense makes you want to binge, maybe focus on doing some meditation to make you less tense. Focus on your breath, when you feel your mind wandering then refocus on your breath (without being mad at yourself for your mind wandering). Keep going for up to 30 minutes if you can, starting…
  • MrM27, it was randomtai who made the charming comment about shoving things up *kitten*, not cip1. That's why she put it in quotation marks.
  • OP, you have handled a lot of rudeness with a lot of grace, so good on you. To the people who say things like "STFU" and "shove it up your *kitten*" when people ask questions, ya'll need to check yourselves before you give advice. The amusing thing is, you were trying to tell the OP not to be rude!
  • frozen bananas and strawberries, blended with water. If properly in the mood and have calories, an ounce of cashews (soaked for at least 2 hours beforehand), throw it in there for something a lot like ice cream. It's a good recipe, I can't remember where it's from but I think it's from somebody at MFP. tortilla + tomato…
  • Bread. I've never been the type to have just a little bread. Yesterday's main course was three types of bread: German rye bread with butter, chinese coconut cream bun (half) and chinese cheese bun (had fruit for breakfast and yogurt with oats for lunch). I tend to go over on refined carbs rather than anything else. Rye…
  • Try and see what works for you. Stopping a couple of hours before bed (I don't eat after 8) helps me just feel less bloated and not-nice.
  • Better to, I guess. I tend to leave out coffee and tea. But not milk and sugar, if you see what I mean. That said, veggies can have calories. Not much, but for example there's about 90 calories in a medium stalk of broccoli.
  • This might serve as an inspiration! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1202069-how-i-lost-360lbs-in-15-months-with-photos Best of luck for you and him. Getting him on board with logging food, regardless of calories, could be a good step. Getting into that habit helps because you start to see the nutritional values of…

  • I eat breakfast sometime between 7 - 8 am (missed today, weekend, but usually), lunch between 12 - 1 pm and dinner between 7 - 8 pm. The way I got myself into it is to refuse to eat outside of those times. I never used to get hungry for breakfast, but now I do. Anyway, it does work for me because I used to start eating in…
  • I think it's okay for something small. If you try to exercise off a whole pizza, good luck!
  • I love listening to Regrets by Mark Fry. Listen to something you like or read a good book. Try to get into a new subject. The best thing is mindfulness meditation, which can be summarised thus: focus on your breath. When you feel your mind wandering, bring it back to your breath. Universities including Yale (oyc.yale.edu)…
  • Some people prefer not to comment. It seems to be a cultural difference. If you know some Asians, saunter up to them, we're usually quite verbose about these things :) Honestly though, just relax. You've done a great job. You're healthier and you're less at risk for illnesses in the future. You also probably fit into some…
  • I wanted to lose weight since I was 10 too! I didn't really lose any until my early 20s, and then maintained for a year and a half and now I'm trying to get fit with MFP. I worried about it for years and years and didn't really do anything about it other than feel terrible. Calorie counting and exercise do work. The…

  • Well done! You can see 'mega fat' or you can see a really great and difficult accomplishment.
  • Thank you for the inspiration!
  • You can definitely do it! The success stories on MFP are a great inspiration. The great thing about calorie counting is that you don't have to deprive yourself of particular foods, just be creative with how you make stuff.
  • You don't have to but I sure do. I'll jog for chocolate covered almonds.
  • The self-hatred point the poster above made is true for me too. These days, I listen to Regrets by Mark Fry. That usually gets me going. Weight loss isn't a huge thing, it's a small but important thing that takes time and good habits. It's better to do something small towards it every day than to let the days go by because…
  • Congratulations! Stay healthy!
  • I find it tough, but after a lot of mucking about, the following works for me: breakfast fruit and a coffee, lunch a salad (broccoli with something or salad from somewhere), dinner lots of stuff. It's possible to get a pizza with a mozzarella salad for less than 400, for example. The pizza being a tortilla base with tomato…
  • BMI 29 You have a higher BMI than 95% of females aged 15-29 in the world ... Good to know, I guess! On the plus side, I can feel right at home in Barbados and Micronesia,
  • Ah I didn't realize you were being sarcastic about all the women. Carry on.
  • Not to be crude, but what would you say if somebody's partner gave an 'honest' instead of polite/comforting answer to a question about penis size? Some things are sensitive. I'm trying to be polite, but the fact that you're willing to generalize against all women begs a serious question: do you ever have a terrible feeling…
  • Grated carrot, especially with some lemon and onion.
  • I think maybe we're finally almost around the same page. Also, free market dogma is a different topic altogether.
