They made their nutritional information available because people campaigned for them to do so! in those documentaries all the cool bros here don't watch. People can campaign further, and have been - that's WHY mcdonalds serve things like broccoli and salads alongside crap. Take personal responsibility! I never said people…

Alright, ya'll do what you want. The spread of calorie-laden, processed food and the obesity epidemic go hand in hand. Yes, people are responsible for what they eat. However, as some of you have mentioned, people have been campaigning for companies to display their nutritional information - people who think that, maybe,…

... Well, for the first part of my specific answer, I'll have to ask you to review your reading comprehension skills. Specifically, how did you get the impression from what I said that I thought McDonalds should bear more responsibility for you than you yourself do? What I said is that when restaurants serve food, however…

... Do some research. People have made whole documentaries!
-
Good for you! I'm not saying people don't have a personal responsibility. I'm saying that if people go there, and take their children there, the food should be less processed and less calorie-laden. Have you actually researched into what is in their food?

Actually, McDonalds in some countries do serve cheap and rather good salad, I'll say that for them. Customers have been kicking back. But they still have a responsibility to not make such heavily processed food, and customers should show them that by refusing to buy the more calorific products. Still, the cheapest 'value'…

No, they don't force me. I don't eat fast food often, but when people are busy and they need access to a cheap meal, they go to places like McDonalds and other places. It's not a crime to want a cheap lunch. The places that purport to serve food have a responsibility to the people they serve. Yes, everybody could pack…

I think maybe you don't enjoy critically looking at problems. Which is fine, but McDonalds is part of the cheap fast food that is making people obese - it's unhealthy food that is cheap. They do have some duty towards their customers not to feed them crap. Yes, McDonalds existed when you were a kid. People became more and…

Unless they indicate otherwise or keep a dead-eyed stare going, it might just be curiosity or looking in one direction while zoning out. If they're freaking you out by staring, make a face or, if it's a really persistent weirdo, report them.

I've been trying to find that too. I was trying almonds but it's a no go for me, I get hungry soon after (which is common to all meals involving high fat food). Perhaps some kind of quinoa or bean based thing?

+1 excellent. I live in a very capitalist area which has almost free healthcare (changing currency, about 12 USD at emergency, less than 6 USD for clinics including meds). The American refusal to respect that very basic right is frankly mind-boggling.

I agree with you except for the part that that's what the movement is about. I am just skeptical as to whether they just mean that people should love and care about their minds and bodies, which of course everyone should, or whether they go further and say it's okay to be physically unhealthy. Otherwise, I agree with…

Thanks, I'll consider supplements if necessary, but it would be nice to get essentials from food instead.

It really helps to get into the habit of logging calories. For the first months I did it, I was waaaaay over almost every day, especially during exams. But I got into the habit and now that I'm really trying to stay in the green, habits like weighing and pre-logging and other seeming annoyances are no trouble, just quiet…

Thank you!

Well done! Very inspirational.

Thank you all! Excellent links, will be upping chia seeds :) As for fish, it's a good idea but it's possible to get essentials from plant-based sources, with effort and help!

Try to create an incentive that you can stick to. Perhaps get someone else to hold you accountable. They don't have to do much, just ask them to ask for a weekly report. Get someone you trust though, it would be really frustrating to have to ask them to ask you to make a report :) Also, commit to logging your calories. I…

Well done!

Fair point, yeah. It is a worrying thing because as much as it's good to accept ourselves for who we are, it has to be with a focus towards health.

HaibaneReki, political correctness means using terminology that people don't find offensive to describe said people. For example, using non-offensive language to describe racial groups. It is perfectly possible to disagree without using abusive language, so there's no political correctness issue here at all.

I've been big my whole life, and I'm very much behind anti-bullying campaigns and ways to make people nicer to each other and not discriminate on the basis of weight and appearance. However. Fat acceptance, not getting healthy, is bad for health. It's also bad for wallet, but mainly health. What's the use of promoting…

I'm in if there's still room!

Hey! On June 1 last year, I challenged myself to eat only vegan food for a month. After that month, I started eating various other things, but now I'm really ready to go back to it. I would love to get to know more people doing this! I'm trying to go easy on the processed food this time, last time I discovered boca burgers…

Weight loss doesn't solve internal issues. If you put too much emphasis on outer appearance for happiness, there's no way to be happy. But try to take some photos, see the difference, the result of your hard work and the reason for your better health, and see if you can value it for what it is: a great achievement.

I challenged myself to eat only vegan food for a month and it's really helped me pick food generally. I'm not vegan now, though I'd like to get into it again because it really does feel good. Anyway, it's a good thing to do for a while. It just makes you focus and research on non-meat, non-dairy options. I also tried raw…

Kewpie deep-roasted sesame dressing makes salad delicious. My go to meal is broccoli with dumplings or aforementioned sauce. However, variety is spice of life as they say, and I do try to mix it up. Dinner today was bread pasta/pizza thing, which is slice of bread + olive pasta sauce (26 g) + parmagiano regiano (6 g).

My staple is broccoli. It varies, but great ones are: broccoli + dumplings with dipping sauce (delicious, but watch for sodium) and broccoli + kewpie deep-roasted sesame dressing (or 'crack'). Packing a big salad is great, and if you keep the dressing in, it soaks into the lettuce during the day. I try to just put whatever…
