  • Thank you for sharing your story. I am 42 and have struggled with disordered eating since I was a teenager, including bingeing and purging (or just purging). It's a constant struggle and I need to remain ever vigalent t in my thinking. Now I error more towards "orthorexia" which I'm working hard to combat. I've found that…
  • Yeahhhh....I can't help myself. I'm going to get myself punched in the face at some point, I'm sure. The latest was a lady at Walgreens who kept yelling and calling the pharmacist, "A Chinese looking b*&ch." I put her in her place and then helped her find whatever it was she was looking for that the pharmacist couldn't…
  • Hi all: Feel free to add me as well. I'm having a heck of a time staying on track in the evenings. I think I'm not eating enough during the day. The next couple of days I'm trying to just eat intuitively and then see how my evenings shake out after that, even if I end up going over my calorie goal a little bit. Interested…
  • Wow! All these no alcohol goals! Living and dating in New Orleans, that is really, really hard. I like the idea but I think I need to be more realistic (for me). I'm going through some big life changes, so I really need to start small, so mine are below. 1. No more than 3 drinks per week 2. Drink 8 glasses of water daily…
  • I've heard good things about Barre3 too. I wear my Fit Bit during my Pure Barre classes and it appears that I burn around 400 calories per 55 minute class. So not a big burn, but better than sand in my shorts.
  • My goal is 3-4 times a week too. We don't have the platform classes yet. I can't wait until we do! That will be the ticket I think. Does yours have them? If it were light out when I get done working, I would go for a jog after work, but, unfortunately my little corner of New Orleans isn't so safe after dark. (My husband…
  • This is my all time favorite "treat" recipe. I really only eat it on workout days since it has quite a bit of sugar: http://www.the36thavenue.com/baked-oatmeal-bars/ This is my other favorite, but it's not really one that you cut into a bar. Although I have baked it in muffin papers before and that worked out well (be sure…
  • This is my go to because it is super simple. Sometimes I'll add a little cumin for some spice. And it for sure needs salt. I usually don't bother with the blender step. If I'm feeling really motivated, I might stick the immersion blender right in the pot.…
  • I use Pinterest a lot too for inspiration. I post lots of healthy recipes if you want to check them out! https://www.pinterest.com/bluegrayfarm/
  • Do you use Pinterest at all? I save lots of recipes. Healthyish ones are under the "Protein" board and the "Fit Farmer" board. https://www.pinterest.com/bluegrayfarm/
  • I eat one to two eggs a day and my cholesterol is fine too. I eat duck eggs too. I have both chickens and ducks. If you ever get bored of hard boiled eggs, I have lots of egg suggestions!

  • When I eat pizza, I like to eat A LOT of pizza. I'm just never going to be able to portion control it. I have it once a month and eat as much as I want. I ate 900 calories worth of pizza tonight and it was delicious. :)
  • Not an impossibility! But everyone isn't lucky enough to live on a farm. While, I guess my diet can be considered generally "unprocessed" I still eat things like pudding and jello cups and diet soda because I find them delicious. I also use frozen vegetables in the months when I don't have food from my garden. I also try…
  • These sound fun!
  • CALL OSHA. Where do you work where you work 10-11 hours a day with no break? That being said, it sounds like you're holding your own with the peddler, going on walks and Zumba. A lot of people in your position would be making excuses. Seriously, my only other recommendation until you are ready to start a more intense…
  • This is a good one!
  • I'm liking this having a # of something done in a year goals you all have. I'll have to consider one.
  • The only time I've ever tried Slim Fast was about 7 years ago when my gall bladder was trying to murder me and I couldn't eat real food. I alternated between that and Carnation Instant breakfast, you know, for variety. How many meals a day are you replacing with it? In general, if you're not terribly active, I guess there…
  • Is the EMT training and certification crazy?
  • Good god! You go!
  • I'm a former swimmer, so I'm thinking some kind of swim goal might be a good one for me. How far do you swim now? I pass the pool on my way to the weight room and feel myself itching to get in there. Plus there's the added bonus of having an excuse to hop in the hot tub when I'm done. I forgot another goal. It's sort of…
  • 275 squat! Good on you! Thinking about it makes my butt hurt!
  • I've thought about adding a running goal, so maybe that will be next. I just kind of...don't like it. So maybe swimming or something for cardiovascular. Let's be friends!
  • Me too. It just kind of helps me determine if something needs tweaking just from an overall health issue. My thought process, "Hmm...up a pound. I didn't really pee very much yesterday. Yikes! My lunch I chose for the week is pretty high in sodium. Better up my water intake. When was the last time I pooed? I should…
  • I eat the same thing pretty much for a week and then switch. Sometimes I'll go two weeks. Sometimes I get midway through the week and realize what I made to eat for lunch during the week is bad news bears, but I don't like to waste food so I power through. For example, the lettuce wraps I made for my lunch this week are…
  • Feel free to add me too. I just started lifting heavy weights so maybe we can help one another through it!
  • You can feel free to add me! Anyone can. I'd like to build up my friend list for some motivation as well.
  • Did you eat a lot of sugar previously? My diet was really really high in sugar and the first week was a little rough for me, but it all evened out.
