12 step is not for me. But that is just me. I can't and won't do the whole "I am powerless" thing.

This T-shirt canvas thing is nothing short of brilliant! I love it!

If that were the case, no one would ever be overweight, as we are all logical beings. It is more than calories in vs. calories burned. Medications, as the OP mentioned, causes some really nasty things to occur to metabolism and other things. I wish the OP the best, and hope that health continues to improve. Celexa can and…

It took me about a month, and still it was like taking antabuse for carbs. Every time I loaded on carbs, I was ill. Wine did it, too, by the way. Also, please make sure you are taking extra b-12 (methylcobalamin to be exact) because met will deplete b-12 in short order! I had pernicious anemia from this.

It's good to see other's ideas for meals and try them out. Add me, and I will add you. :)

Add me, if you want. The more the merrier!

I was diagnosed with PCOS back when it was called Stein-Leventhal Syndrome (mid 1980s). Was on ridiculous BC meds for a long time until I got some great treatment by an RE back in 2004. He put me on Metformin, and I started ovulating within the first month. I was religious with tracking temperatures, exercising, eating…

If Yasmin can clear up the hair growth, greasy face and acne thing, I am willing to go on it. I have had a tubal ligation, so I can't get pregnant. I am trying to do this without resorting to medications. Myo-inositol seems to work to a degree, just added red yeast rice. There is a history of estrogen induced breast cancer…

I have managed to lose almost 14 pounds so far. I am thinking with this much support, I could easily lose more.

Vaniqa has been out long enough that I would think that they would have a generic equivalent, yes? This hair thing is a PITA.
-
Please make sure that you take extra B-12. Metformin depletes B-12, and can cause pernicious anemia. Seriously, it is nothing to mess with.

I decided to go completely med free this year, and I am ever so glad I did. I take myo-inositol, NAC, ALCAR, Omega 3, a multivitamin, and a methylation support (B complex with folate), and honestly, I have never felt better. I plan on adding some iodine, as when I did before, it really helped a lot of other seemingly…

I've heard that N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC, and you can get it at a health food store or GNC) is good for hirsutism. I haven't seen much effect. I was on Spiro ages ago, and it worked, sort of, and I was getting electrolysis. I plan to go back to electrolysis once I can afford it (also thinking that might be my 20 pound weight…

So, did the IBS go away? Become controlled? Medication more effective? What do the docs say?
-
They need "like" buttons on here. It is nothing short of a miracle when a "real" period shows up. :)

Metformin helped me when I was on it, but then I got to reading some things (vitamin b-12 deficiency) and just decided that it wasn't worth the risk. I am taking inositol now (2 grams a day, level teaspoon) and my periods are regular and I feel better.

I did an eval on my diet with MFP only to realize that I don't eat nearly enough iron. That could explain a lot, along with vit b-12 deficiency. Need to get some supplements. Maybe that'll help.

Oops, forgot stats. Will be 46 in August Diagnosed at 13 years of age (when they called it Stein-Levental) Got real with it when I was 35 Had my son at 37 Only using supplements to control, and seem to be doing fairly well (reg periods, anyway) Inositol, multivitamin, Omega 3, magnesium, NAC, ALCAR Hairy everywhere (ewww)…

I do! I do! Adding all y'all now. Yes, I am from the South (of the US). :)

YAY! A group for me to make new friends in and get motivated to get moving and not comfort/bored eating.

Sounds a lot like the Zone diet which worked really well for me.
-
FYI, make sure you are getting enough B-12 (methyl b-12, specifically) as metformin will deplete b-12. Pernicious anemia is nothing to mess with. Been there, done that. Zone diet worked well for me before, aided me in getting regular and conceiving. Going back to it since having my son, and I can't really use the excuse of…

I'm joining today. Have a lot to lose, but this last trip to Vegas convinced me that grotesque excess is not something I need in my life. Balance is what works for me.
