  • I ate 1850 calories today and feel guilty. Trying to get my head around it all. thanks all for your comments
  • Thank you for that link. I forgot about lentils--I used to eat them frequently. Going to buy some! Yesterday I was at about 1700 calories, woke up feeling bloated and gross. I did eat a lot of sodium though.
  • Ok I am going to eat 1800 for a couple weeks and see what happens I will up it to 1900 after that. I think I must have put in different activity levels. I am fairly active at least moderate maybe strenuous. Yesterday I hit 1525 but I really need to buy some protein powder. Last year I was most successful when I was using…
  • Thank you all for the great articles and advice! I made it to 1600 calories yesterday my goal for this week is 1700 but two problems one is I was 14 grams over fat goal second I felt like I was eating all the time My question I have now is the EM2WL TDEE calculator gives me different (higher) numbers than the Scooby one I…
  • Great advice, I am having a hard time allowing myself to eat 1600-1700. I just upped it yesterday to 1700, with exercise it was 1900 but I am mentally beating myself for eating.
  • so I've been eating over 1400 calories for over a month (started before I posted here) I am now trying to eat at 1600 calories but I'm still hungry all the time. The first weird thing is I got a menstrual cycle--I thought I was officially in menopause since its been over 6 months since I had one! I guess that proves I…
  • I downloaded the free program from EM2WL and it looks good. My only problem is I only have access to dumbbells (range from 3lb each to 20lb) so I have a nice range of dumbbells --I found a dumbbell routine on bodybuilder.com but does EM2WL have any recommendations for a dumbbell only workout. I can't buy any more equipment…
  • one problem I have that Ive noticed while logging for the past 700plus days is although I am usually under the calorie goal of 1200 I am nearly always a bit over the fat grams maybe if I eat more calories I will crave less fat? Its generally due to eating peanut butter and microwave popcorn. I eat a lot of popcorn to try…
  • Tereza Thank you for the link to the article it makes a lot of sense. I am struggling mentally with allowing myself to eat more I thought when I was traveling it would be easy to do but when others at the restaurant were ordering a full meal I would get a side of a plain potato and sprinkle it with pepper and that was all…
  • Here is whats been going on the last 10 days or so... I went on a trip and have basically been on the road eating out of a cooler and restaurants and hotel breakfasts. I tried to not think too much about calories but still found myself skipping meals and afraid to reach my new goal of 1600 calories a day. I didn't get as…
  • And the thing is I know what I've been doing is impossible to maintain. I wake up at 3 am hungry and don't eat and fight the hunger all the time, my nails are very brittle and break really easily. I need to eat more. Its hard to get my courage up to allow myself to try this. I rechecked and my maintenance TDEE is…
  • Thank you everyone. Yes- I've really been frustrated because I have been working out daily with circuit training and a 3 mile walk for 2 years now and it has caught up to me with all over joint pain. The last month or so I have cut down my workouts to only 1 or 2 a week and my belly has puffed out. This is with MFP set to…
  • Hello thank you for your reply--so if I have been at 1200 calories for a year and me TDEE is about 1910 --I need to take about 6 weeks to get there and then stay at that for about 8-12 weeks before I cut?
  • I was shocked when I went to the Dr this year my BMI has gone up but my fitness and muscle tone is much increased. I recall the old ad "pinch an inch" to determine if you are over fat. I no longer can pinch any fat on my sides. So I dont want to be deluding myself about my fitness but I dont think my gain is fat.
  • Hello, Im new here too. Have been dealing with widespread joint pain for a few months and don't have a diagnosis yet (been waiting for an appt). I suspect its rheumatoid arthritis based on my symptoms. I went from being able to walk 5 miles a day and then doing 30 to 40 minutes of HIIT. To doing 1/2 to 1 mile and then too…
  • Hello. I have started having a lot of pain and I am in process of a diagnosis. I suspect RA. Im still waiting to get an appointment. Ive been ignoring the pain and was thinking its just my workouts are too intense but I scaled back a lot and still get severe all over pain even with light walking. I am looking friends for…
  • Hello, I would like to know how its going for others dealing with arthritis. I am dealing with a lot of pain with any kind of activity. I thought I was just working out too much but even if I only walk I have pain. Suggestion?
  • Most of my life I've been in the 130s (I'm 5'3"). When I'm active and not obsessing too much about food I would naturally go down in the high 120s. After the birth of my third child when I was 40 years old I struggled a lot to loose weight. I was stuck at 155 for several years. It was so discouraging I quit weighing…
  • It's hard when the temptation is there. My daughter is selling Girl Scout cookies and I thought I was safe since I am gluten free but noooooo they made gluten free cookies this year and I think they are the best gluten free cookie I have ever tried. I've had four already today. No lie. I can't wait until they are out of…
  • I've been using Daily Burn for almost a year. I love it, there are so many different trainers and levels. I started with True Beginner. Now I am doing Bob Harpers routine on Daily Burn called Black Fire. Combines strength and cardio and also includes some gymnastics from Anja. You can find workouts that are only 15 minutes…
  • Do you have stairs in your house? Run up and down them. Jumping jacks, sit-ups, squats, jump rope, lunges. The possibilities are multiple. Good luck. The hardest part is starting.
  • I would get really randomly teary when working out and dieting. I discovered if I met my protein goals for the days instead of being way low with it I was less teary. There was, for me at least, a definite correlation between my diet and moodiness.
  • Thanks mspunkyone I appreciate your perspective. I do lift, I mainly do Daily Burn routines. I am doing Bob Harpers Black Fire, only using 12 lbs for most things though. I have some 20 lb dumbbells that I do rows with. I think I'm under eating. I spent the last week taking it easy. I took three rest days and ate an average…
  • Wow skinny4me2be. You look wonderful! That's so encouraging to see it works . I'm pretty sure I need to stick with it. I just took the last two days as rest days, I've been working out fairly intensely and I swear my pants are looser today. I see you slowly increased calories and you keep them healthy calories. I'm 53 and…
  • I do think I have over the years messed up my metabolism. I have always struggled with about 10 to 15 extra pounds but I am short so it looks like more. I also have food allergies and I am trying to find the best foods for me. I was very obese as a child I was on cortisteroids for my allergies and asthma. I was a skinny…
  • Thank you everyone for your quick responses. Jennbeck, according to the calorie calc I should be eating 2100 to maintain, 1900 for a 10 % deficient. I dread going back up. I had an unhealthy diet for years. As a teen growing up I would fast for three days at a time to lose weight then binge on potato chips. I do want this…
  • Canned beans or dry beans, spices, veggies, broth cubes and a crockpot. The possibilities are numerous. I like to experiment . Today, I put in yellow split peas (cheap), carrots, chicken broth and cumin. It's yummy and will last days.
  • Hi . I am in the Twin Ciries, not from MN either but have liver here over 10 years. Add me if you want, I can't figure out how to friend request since I'm on an ipad.
