I did all but the last day of Insanity this summer (car accident the day before my final workout!!!!). It was very difficult, but worth it. I lost 14 pounds and I noticed my legs didn't jiggle during the workouts anymore. I never took any measurements. It allowed me to eat lots of food (even 4600 cals on the 4th of July)…

Mid-June I mean.

5'4 SW: 154 CW: 133.4 GW: 130 I might get down to 125 when I can do more intense exercise again (Insanity). I've gotten this far since mid-July. I eat 2000+ calories a day. I like how my body composition is changing. Good luck to you :-).

Please add me too. I'm very motivated.

Thanks :-). I'm glad to hear you're doing so much better --- that's motivating to me, though I hope that since this isn't that serious I won't have to be off my routine for too long :-(. I will if I have to. One good thing about this, is that I'm going to eat better while I can't exercise, so I don't gain the weight back.…

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll try and be good and wait this out. This sucks. Thanks for the candid advice. I appreciate it.

Also, it has been six days.

What I do when I notice that happening is switch exercises to dumbbells instead of barbells, so each side has to do equal work. Also, do reps with your weaker arm/side first, then do the stronger side for the same reps. These things together tend to do the trick for me.

Thanks :-)

Thanks for the advice. I do just drop ... I need to remember that's an opportunity for a negative.

I took Metformin for my supposed insulin resistance about 3 years ago. I took it for three months. My last straw was not being able to eat anything but a little milk for three days. I was sick all the time. I threw up at work, I threw up at the gym, I carried the mop bucket around home with me. I threw up or went loopy if…

Thanks!!! I would never have thought of that. I think I'll try it on Friday. Sounds like something I will end up adding 1x a week or doing instead of the 20. 30 is amazing, by the way!!

One more thing: Weight rooms generally have some unwritten rules, like not curling in the squat rack, re-racking your own weights, etc. A search for "Gym Etiquette" on Google will bring up some good pages. Mostly it's just being respectful and responsible.

Good luck getting into shape! I know there are always a handful of buttheads in the gym, but most people are just there to work out. I started at 108 pounds skinny girl way back when, but never had the fear of the "weight room". It was more like I had "graduated" from the chest press Cybex machine to the bench press. Trust…

Maybe train less --- shorter workouts or add another rest day? Or just change your schedule around (ex: not doing deadlifts the day after a back workout -- just an example). Maybe eat more calories? If you have built up your metabolism you may just need more fuel.

Bodybuilding.com has an exercise database. I'm sure they'll have a lot of different exercises for DBs. You can do pretty much everything you do with a barbell; it's just harder because DBs force you to correct muscle imbalances from side to side and recruit more stabilizers.

1. 3 days a week. 6-12 reps. 2. 5 days a week. ~40 minutes (first month of Insanity workouts) 3. RHR is 75 in the morning.

I have naturally low BP too. I do a warm-up and have pre-workout to give me a boost (stimulants raise BP). I find the best help is changing positions (sitting to standing, squatting to standing) slowly, so there isn't a drastic change in BP and I don't see stars and feel light-headed. When I was running in high school, I…

I did all but the final week about three years ago. I lost twelve pounds and got great muscle definition in my legs -- even my skinny calves. It strengthened my hip stabilizers and I believe was the main solution to correcting my hip imbalance. I've tried to get back into it, but I can reason my way out of doing the…

Bodybuilding.com has a lot of info. I just started lifting (again) too. Good luck to you :-)

Thanks.

Thanks :-). I only have one reply :-(. Anyone else....?

In my opinion, whatever exercise or form of exercise you enjoy most or you could see becoming your passion. Something like that will be easier to stick with. It's "easier" to get in shape if you like what you are doing - fencing, running, walking, lifting - and the passion will keep you going. At least from my experience.…
