I think I was on about 1500 calories a day during my 3 month supervised diet. That wasn't the "pre-op" diet but just an effort to lose weight during the insurance wait. Right now, I have my calorie goal at 900 (I'm 6 weeks post-sleeve), my protein goal at 81, carbs at 93, fat at 26. I have never gone over the 900 (getting…

I set my calorie goal to 900 calories. It does yell at me every day, saying I'm eating too little, but it still records my day. I kind of like being yelled at by MFP, because it reminds me what a major change I am making for my life.
-
There's a fitbit group on MFP and they are VERY helpful in explaining how it all works, how it links to MFP, what to add, what not to add, etc.

I use Bariatric Advantage "Calcium - Chewy Bites - Citrate 500". They are easy to digest and taste yummy (although kind of like a year old caramel) and they are high in citrate. I have trouble with the multivitamins making me sick but the calcium goes down okay if I take it post-meal.

I had surgery on a Tuesday and was back to work part-time, but on my feet, on Monday. I was still sore on Monday, mostly muscle pain on my right side. I was a mess with nausea until Saturday so couldn't have gone back before then. I was only teaching one summer class so just had to go in for two mornings a week, but I also…

For the pureed stage, I also liked the ricotta cheese with sauce on it. I also ate mashed cauliflowers, mashed up low-fat corned beef hash (looks like dog food but surprisingly good and high in protein), yogurt, cottage cheese, guacamole, very smooth hummus, etc. I also made meals for my kids in the slow cooker and used a…

Congratulations! I hope those last 4 lbs melt off quickly.

I went back to work because I'm a college professor and I committed to teaching the duration of the course. I taught on Monday, had surgery on Tuesday, cancelled class on Wednesday and was back in the classroom on Monday. I am 5 weeks out and I can't imagine not being back into my regular routine. I would be so, so, so…
-
During the full liquid stage, I would eat soup (sometimes through a strainer), greek yogurt, protein powder added to pudding, chicken flavored protein broth, mootopia milk (extra protein).
-
You'll do great. If it starts to feel hard, try my mantra of "tomorrow will be better than today." Really, each day is exponentially better!
-
I had luck with making chicken soup in the slow cooker, so the chicken was very tender. And then I ran it through a blender. That went down pretty well with lots or protein.

I am almost 5 weeks post-sleeve. I use a sublingual for my B6. I use a chewy for both the calcium and the multivitamin. They aren't the greatest but I can keep them down. I would recommend a chewable or chewy (wafer vs. starburst kind of thing) to start off with. I can't imagine a regular multivitamin pill would stay down…

Then I think that's normal. Make sure you are getting up carefully. I had to roll to my side and then get up to avoid pain. Also, sleeping with a pillow hugged against your abdomen will also help. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and went back to teaching on Monday (so 6 days). I wrapped my abdomen in a big ace bandage to…

The pre-op diet kind of sucks, especially the first few days. By about day 4-5, I was pretty used to it and wasn't hungry anymore. But the first few days were hard - I was hungry, had headaches, felt weak, etc. But remember that the pre-op diet is the worst part so just get through it and know that it will be a lot easier…

What kind of pain? At your incision sites? Your actual stomach? Muscle pain from where they cut? At five days out, I was off of all pain meds and the only real pain I had was in my muscles, trying to get up and down, bend over, etc. If you are still having pain at your incisions or your actual stomach, I would call your…

I'm only 4 weeks out so I haven't figured out the eating thing yet. But I wanted to reply to say that I'm sorry you are dealing with so much right now, especially on top of dealing with adjusting to life post-surgery. I am glad you will be going to therapy and I hope that is helpful for you. Hang in there!!
-
Thanks everyone! I'll order some sample packs. And I am going to make some coffee ice cubes now in hopes that they are ready later this afternoon so I can try blending with the Premier Protein Chocolate drink.

I am 4 weeks and am definitely buying too much and cooking too much. I do have kids to feed but still, they can't eat that much turkey taco meat. I need to start automatically freezing half of our dinner for another night. Also, I've cooked things for myself, like mashed cauliflower, that there is just no way I will ever…

Good luck! Try to get up and walk as much as you can, especially if you are having gas pain. Focus on getting in your fluids and protein. You will feel a lot better each day and after a week you won't believe you had surgery only a week ago.
-
I'm sorry you are still struggling. I will be 4 weeks tomorrow and I definitely have days where I just feel tired and spent. I try to honor that and not overdo it on those days and try to rest when I can. I walked my regular 1.6 miles this morning but, for some reason, it really drained me today. I'll try to rest a little…

It sounds like a great trip and that you learned a lot about yourself. I have a friend who travels a lot and has "expense account" dinners. He gained a lot of weight in that job! You are right that you will have to find a strategy for that, if it is a regular part of your work-life. I bet that 5 lbs will come off quickly.…

I really like making Indian and Thai Curry in my slow cooker. You can make Thai Curry Soup: http://www.foodiecrush.com/2013/10/slow-cooker-thai-chicken-soup/ Or regular Thai Curry, just throw it all in the crock: http://www.thaikitchen.com/Recipes/Chicken-Beef-and-Pork/Thai-Red-Curry.aspx Or Indian Curry:…

I weigh every morning but only in the morning. But I only "count" my Monday weigh-in. For me, this is helpful because I know when I'm having a stall or having a good week and I can prepare myself for what to expect on my official weigh-in day. I did have my kids hide my scale after surgery because I knew the water weight…

I had the sleeve and was swallowing pills from day 1. It was that horrible liquid painkiller that I couldn't get down. I remember day 4 being a pretty rough day for me too; that's when they put me back on the anti-nausea patch. But things improved dramatically by day 6 and each day was better. Just really try to get your…

I start soft foods on Thursday. Through this, I've learned that what I thought was going to work pre-surgery wasn't an option post-surgery. For example, mashing up vegetables with added protein powder only works if it doesn't make you hurl. I am looking forward to adding eggs, crock-pot cooked chicken recipes, turkey…

I'm sorry to hear of your medical troubles. I can tell you about my experience with getting sleeves a little over 3 weeks ago. I've had a few surgeries - ankle, shoulder, gall bladder and pancreas and this was by far one of the easier surgeries. Seven small laproscopic incisions that are already healed up. I was nauseas…

That's great news! It's really moving forward. I hope you can get it done before the bitter cold comes. I don't think it is a big deal to have a consult with one surgeon and then another perform the surgery. It's not like they look around your insides during the consult. My surgeon does 5-7 surgeries a day so I'm not…
-
Congratulations! Glad it went well and you are home. I started feeling a lot better on day 4-5.
-
It tells you! I have a fitbit one and I will get a pop up on my phone that it needs charging. Or it shows it on the battery indicator on the fit bit, the web dashboard and the phone app. dashboard.

I absolutely had/have a distorted image. My starting weight was 315 but I never felt that big. Also, I never had any weight-related health problems. It always amused me how the nurses would be surprised at my blood pressure and the results of my glucose tests. Also, I thought I was pretty active - working part-time,…
