  • I can run for hours outside but 20 mins on a dreadmill kills any enthusiasm for running for me. I know some people have to use them, some people love them, but to me they are a torture device. It is cold and wet here, steady rain for the last 8 hours and I will be going out in 20 minutes to run in that rather than taking…
  • Nice to know you are on the mend
  • PMA is really working despite the cold and my sluggishness in the morning, the just get it done is helping and the fact that the 69miler is only 4 months away. Signed up for a full at the end of September, it would be a shame to waste the conditioning, trying to find a half to do between June and September but I think…
  • Two runs two days, nice going. 1F, initially I used 1c and thought it's not that cold and then it dawned on me it was fahrenheit, boy that's cold. Big kudos to you. I feel like a sissy with it hovering around freezing here.
  • You one of the few people I have seen complete the c25k programme and get below 30mins, well done you. Ref b210k, just take it easy, it's the same process, just enjoy it.
  • Got 5.5 miles done this morning, a z1 "flush out" run. First mile was really slow and stiff, but towards the end everything loosened off. Hour long runs seem to pass quite quickly. Have fun
  • Run it yes, race it no. I would back calculate the 10k plan from the date in April, if it's early April, I think it will be a challenge. Being able to run 10k by event day will allow you to finish a 15k. It might not be pretty though. Ultimately you'll know if you can spend 90 minutes or so on your feet running, 60-70…
  • Ceci, sorry to hear that the issue was not as simple as you had hoped, hopefully you can get enough mobility/ strength in your shoulder to be able to carry out some activity during the 3 months. One of my work colleagues broke a collar bone and was riding a bike again after 4 weeks, although it was only for 30 minutes. He…
  • Ceci sorry to her about the runner, you hear these "accidents" happen but luckily this is the closest I have ever come to hearing about it other than in the news. Hope the surgery went well. Missed a lot of runs the back end of last week and over the weekend, poor weather, poorer motivation and a couple of family events.…
  • Hi, which plan are you on, an improver from 5k or a straight up 10k plan? Have fun
  • Mojo is back 2 runs today a 4 mile while the car dealership opened, long story, in the driving sleet. Second, a 3 mile run back to the dealership in dry but cold weather with a backpack, both zone 1 runs at the faster end of requirements.
  • Nice run in the cold and drizzle on Sunday (6miles) followed by another 3 miles while reffing and coaching. Today got a 6 mile faster pace session done in heavy rain (it started like drizzle and just got worse). Runs seem to be getting faster and with slower heart rates. Getting back to running longer more frequently is…
  • The Wall 69 miles, Carlisle to Newcastle 24 hr cutoff, in June and a marathon in September, it would be a shame to not lose all that long distance conditioning. Might look for a HM towards the end of the year.
  • Can see how that might get in the way. Hopefully you had/ are having a great weekend.
  • Thursday failed to get out, Friday failed to get out. Got the parkrun done, official 25:39 but due to numerous local closures, waterlogged runs the ranks swelled to over 360, it took 15 secs to cross the start line, lucky it's not a race!!! After barcode scanning got to do the other 11 miles for the Saturday target. Nice…
  • 4.9 miles Monday night, 3.5 miles tonight, hoping to get 5 tomorrow morning before work and a 16 mile bike ride Friday morning again before work. Saturday hoping to warm up with a parkrun and continue going to bag 14 miles total. A simple (hohoho) 5 miles on Sunday to round off the week. That should bag 150+km running for…
  • Taeliesyn, great write up, impressed that you went out running from the start. I love the maramotion comments and despite some things not going as you planned you got to the finish and it doesn't sound like you're broken. I am sure over the next few days a lot of things will fall into place and that Larkhill 100 will not…
  • Had my Olympic distance duathlon this morning. 0400 wake up, on the road at 0500, arrived at venue 0730 for registration setup and race at 0900. 10k run, 40 k bike and 5k run to finish. I am bushed. Splits R1 55:30 T1 1:21 B1 1:16:35 T2 1:24 R2 30:44 Total gun time 2:45:33. Well run event but I don't know how Taeliesyn or…
  • Of course we want it. Well done sir, looking forward to the read. Removed double quote
  • I am so impressed with you guys who either use a dreadmill or a short indoor track. Dreadmills drive me mad, I started on them but I now can't stand them. It's been great reading about everyone's exploits I haven't been great about updating, the issue with enjoying time off work at Christmas and then getting back to the…
  • I always preferred Matt Fitzgeralds 80/20 running plan but it means buying the book and believing in the training philosophy attached to it. Basically a lot of easy running with some specific hard sessions. But in reality any of the charity plans will get you there, the key is doing the plan. My real advice to you would be…
  • Great thanks, picked up an injury 3rd quarter and spent the 4th quarter feeling sorry for myself but the christmas break has allowed me to get back to running and recovering. It's good to see you setting a goal for yourself and a HM in 9 months time is definitely doable with the right plan Glad to see you back too, hope…
  • Welcome back, you've got another 364 days to make up for it. Have fun, how has the running been going?
  • Should have added also finished 19 parkruns, with a little encouragement from Taeliesyn without whom I would never have started and 2 volunteering stints. A genuine thanks mate. Numbers 20 and 21 today, the only day in the year you can double up. Legs are feeling the impact of a lot of Christmas miles including the HM…
  • Hopefully this starts a new page!!
  • Last sessions of the year, yesterday went for a ride rather than a run, never got up early enough and when I got some spare time the weather was truly awful. Still got out for a while and realised that if I have the road bike, I do need neoprene booties to keep my feet dry. My feet were absolutely soaked, when I got in and…
  • Put a 5 miler, almost, in this morning. I have come to terms that my pacing needed to be adjusted given my current fitness levels. As a result the 4.8 was done at z2 so a nice sustainable pace. Usual problems at the start, struggled to want to get going, but once started I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly time…
  • @Just_Ceci good luck with the trainer, prefer being out rather than inside on a trainer but I do have the advantage of less extreme weather than you. Hope the weather turns for the better soon. @moyer566 some nice mileage there, just be careful as the snow turns to ice. I think I might have got my mojo back, at last a run…
  • 30 mile ride this morning, what a difference a day makes, very little wind today. Legs are tired but it was good to push a good pace for nearly 2 hours.
  • Watches are so much better than apps on phones. Watches tend to have their own little loading programs either linked to a cable or ANT+ dongle. Youtube is great for sorting out your problems, hope you get it to work too soon. Nice run by the way. Got a 2nd parkrun done this weekend, arrived late so started at the back of a…
