  • Listen to your body - I had an original hip injury that happened while running- hip flexor area - originally thought to be a torn labrum - ended up seeking PT after a year of not being pain free - still had been running/exercising because the MD's then said it actually wasn't torn. Thought to be bursitis/tendonitis.…
  • Thank you for suggestions everyone. It was a hip injury. So can't kick, run, walk comfortably, etc. Very depressing to actually see and feel the weight coming back on and the muscle tone going away. I feel like when my heart rate isn't up, then I'm not burning much off. And I do admit, my eating habits went down hill for a…
  • Love my HRM. Strap is not annoying at all once you start working out with it. You just sort of get used to it. I do many different types of exercise with it on - kickboxing, running, cycling, etc. and doesn't give me a hard time. I like that it is accurate compared to the many "estimates" out there for calories burned, etc.
  • Thank you all so much for your input. I will have to take a good hard look at what I am doing/eating - maybe more than I have been "thinking" I'm doing and see what I can notice and improve upon. I appreciate the feedback. Keep you posted...
  • When I begin working out again (after a "break" - which I hate to admit I go through every now and then), my body always gains weight first. After a while, my measurements change, but the weight doesn't move a ton from the scales. It has taken me a LONG time to try and redirect my thinking away from the scale and more…
  • to have kickass arms someday... (I'd wish for an awesome butt, but I think that's beyond help at this point - lol)

  • I am a mom of 5 ranging from 14 to 2. They are in 3 different schools and I work 3days/week and every other weekend. Workout time is not easy. Sometimes I take the 2 little ones with me in the jogging stroller, other times I run out the door as soon as hubby walks in, others days I wake myself up in the morning, other…
  • Thanks for the input everyone!! I was hoping for some good responses so I could justify my spending. :-)

  • I'm just under 5' and I fluctuate between 116 and 118 regularly. I was aiming at 110 and was on this site consistently for MONTHS and that weight did not budge. 1 lb or 2 here and there but has not gone down. Of course I became discouraged and stopped for a while. I have decided to use the site more for tracking my…
  • my kids aren't allowed peanut butter in our schools due to allergies so I often have to improvise with other things and lunch being a bit tricky (easily bored with the same stuff). We try things like ham and cheese wraps, bagel thins - newer lighter versions of bagels - with cream cheese or melted cheese, etc. I typically…
  • I know the feeling! I've been on MFP since February and have literally lost about 1lb (because I also ended up gaining a lb at first too). Ok, so I know I'm saying 1 or 2 lbs, like it's 5 or 10, but that's exactly how slowly and painstakingly a ib works for me to come off. I can tell you a couple of things I learned over…

  • Well, I've tried smoothies a number of different ways and have found that I like mine more like ice cream rather than in a "shake" type of consistency. My favorite is using 1 banana, about 1 cup of mixed frozen berries, 1 small yogurt (like fiber one), and a touch of skim milk (not even 1/4 cup). I just continue to mix…
  • Ohhh, I'm there. I'm 5 ft. and in at 116. I was trying to get down to my 110ish goal but the scales haven't budged for me since February. I have almost given up on getting the weight down, but just trying to focus on maintaining my goals for exercise each week. I'm at 4- 5 days a week, which I am happy with and my…
  • Please don't let another individual make or break you. You will shine when you are ready (with a few bumps and bruises perhaps along the way) and you've already started that sunshine bursting with your success so far. And as far as the bad day, tomorrow is already coming and hold your head up and be proud that your loss so…
  • I've been so curious about these but haven't heard much from people that are actually wearing them. Thank you for posting some of these "reviews". I love to hear about things that are working for others.
  • I wear my HRM all the time and I burned about 125 more cals in my run yesterday (was about 90 degrees in my area). I happen to enjoy the heat and don't mind running in the hot weather which is a plus. But I did have more of a burn for the same route. Just thought I'd mention it.(but I would probably say yes, you would have…
  • Problem is, I haven't ever really STARTED losing! That's why I figured something has to be "off". It seems to have been too long for having absolutely NOTHING happen. I haven't weighed in since I started my increase. Has only been about 4-5 days so I'm giving it a week before I hit any scales. Don't want to get totally…
  • Thank you everyone for all the great responses. I'm going to stick with these 1500 for a while and see what happens. The only thing I feel good about is knowing my calorie burn amount with my HRM. It's been a great addition to my workouts since I probably would have overestimated my amounts based on some of the listings…
  • I guess I wasn't considering how much the weight training can contribute to cardio. I always think of them very separately. Thank you very much for the feedback - and it seems like great results!!
  • So that's all that's needed is just a few cardio days? hmmm, I'm surprised to hear that. So you still get a large calorie burn out of the other days of the schedule?
  • Well, glad I'm not the only one that went against my better eating habits for the day. I too "indulged", but today am back at it. There are days that won't be perfect, but as long as the ball gets rolling again following the bad one, then so be it. Don't beat yourself up. Good stuff will still come with good eating habits…
  • I would get it. I LOVE mine - and like a few of the other posters, I hate working out without it now. (come to think of it, I don't ever work out with out it now). Good luck

  • Thanks everyone - I appreciate the feedback! I was thinking of getting the P90X but maybe I'll look into insanity instead.
  • Ok, I tried to post the items for you, but it didn't all get on here it seems. Sorry
  • I have the book with the page to determine your points target: 1. What do you weigh? Enter 1st 2 digits - if under 100 lbs, enter right hand column # 2. male or female (female, 2 - male, 8) 3. Age: 17-26 = 4 27-37 = 3 38-47 = 2 48-58 = 1 over 58 = 0 4. Height : under 5'1 = 0 5'1 - 5'10 = 1 over = 2 5. Activity - most of…
  • Ohhh - love these - I use frozen fruit and then you don't even need ice and typically just a touch of skim milk. I use a container of low fat yogurt or weight watchers or something like that. The frozen berries make it sooooooo thick - it is basically ice cream rather than a smoothie. LOVE THEM. And got my son addicted to…
  • Hi, Can you explain the water pill a bit more? I haven't really heard of that - does it defeat the purpose of drinking all that H20 that they want us to drink? Just curious about it because I haven't heard many people mention this. Thanks

  • I'm just right about 5 feet and I went on the BMR tool and it came out at about 1100 cals. So maybe I do need to drop down my cals. I've also been looking for any great workouts - I've been toying with P90X . I may adjust some things to see what happens over the next couple of weeks. I've been about 20 lbs heavier in the…
  • Thank you so much for the responses. I'm feeling heavy hearted with all this and I know I should be just in the "be healthy" frame of mind, but it was boggling to me that nothing is budging. I appreciate the feedback and hope to send some positive results out there after some of the suggestions. Thanks everyone!!
  • aggravated..... I've been logging in each day and for the most part I've stuck in the range I should be in - a bit less some days, a bit more but mostly in the area I should be and I've gone down .5. Seriously?? Ugh. I'm ready to screech. I didn't want any miracles and I don't have too much I'm looking to get rid of, but…
