  • Girlswithcurls - try the zoggs air fusion ladies googles. They fit perfectly with no suction or marks afterwards. They are brilliant.
  • Hello - after a week of not being able to get to the pool I was in it this morning. 1.8km in 40 mins.
  • No swimming today as I was at the physio. I was getting hand pains and numbness and today the physio basically said its all down to very tight pecs and shoulder muscles. Am allowed to carry on swimming, but have to do a load of daily exercises as well. After one set of them all this evening I am now sore!
  • Snorkel - that sounds like a good idea. Is it one of those funny looking front snorkels?
  • Sounds like a good run @girlwithcurls2 - I wish I could run but I am useless and will stick with swimming. Another 2km this morning with more tumble turns. This morning every other turn was a tumbler and it was hard work, but I will get there.
  • 2.5km yesterday (can't remember what I did but there would have been a lot of crawl. Today I was in my local pool and the clock was missing so I have no idea how long I swam for, but I swam 2.2km - I was focused on doing more tumble turns (I really have to do more of these) so was aware that I wasn't as fast as normal. I…
  • No swimming today, but yesterday was a good swim. 2km in 40 mins - back on form.
  • Swam a good set today. 500m free / 400m kicks various / 200m crawl with fins / 200m crawl with pullboy thing / 100m breast with fly legs / 600m free (making sure that each 50 metres was under 1 minute. Feels good to be back!
  • @emma - I had never heard of vertical kicking so looked it up - that looks hard! Unfortunately the pools I swim in are all shallow so i wouldnt be able to attempt that. Back swimming today - much needed. Just did a gentle 1750m as felt very sluggish.
  • Still out of the pool - the stye is getting better and hopefully by saturday will be gone. @aquatic quests - i also have an extremely weak kick. When I do crawl with fins I am a good 50% faster!!! Plus my butterfly kick is so slow that if I just do fly legs I will actually come to a stop in the middle of the pool becuase…
  • I am out of the water for a few days at the moment. I have developed my first ever stye in my eye - and unfortunately for me it is right where my goggles sit so I can't wear them (too painful). Hopefully it clears up quickly!
  • Slightly shorter swim this morning (had to get into work a little earlier than normal). 250m warm-up, 2 x 100m sprints, 10x50m sprints, 6 x 75m sprints (all my sprints now incorporate tumble turns as I never used to bother with them) then a few more mixed lengths and at that point I lost count.
  • Mixed sort of swim this morning. 1km free. 250m sprint, rest, 200m, 150, 100, 50 and repeat. All good.
  • 2.5km this afternoon - pool was a bit warm so everything was a little sluggish
  • Nice long swim this afternoon - 3km in 62 mins then a further 550m mixed. Felt good to just have a nice long unbroken swim rather than sprints etc. Will try to do this once a week.
  • I have put most of my weight that I lost back on so can't see a difference at the moment (unfortunately that was mainly due to the 2 months no swimming thanks to my sternum injury). However, even though I am heavier again there is definately more muscle in there as I don't look the same now as I did pre-swimming when I was…
  • Hi Aquatic - 3 people is no problem - its just about the timing but as the other swimmers in the lane were about the same speed as me I didn't have a problem. Anymore than that though and its nigh on impossible!
  • Proper swim this morning as there were only three of us in a lane. 500m free 10 x 50m sprints on 65 secs 250m breast 250m back 5 x 100m sprints on 2mins 10 200 cooldown
  • Good morning - finally back in the pool after an almost two week break. Managed 1600m in about 35 mins (I lost track of the clock) as I was late in the water after tube problems. Then the pool was crowded - Juliet3455 - five people in a lane I wish!! This morning we were up to 8 at the peak :)
  • Hello everyone - still haven't been swimming but Dad is now out of hospital which is good. On the not so good side I also went to see a specialist yesterday about some hand and arm pain and apparently this is due to a thoracic outlook restriction something or other which the Doc believes was brought on by my sternum injury…
  • I know that I should do this, but I don't. I am also interested in any exercises out there.
  • Congratulations Emma on all those medals - that is brilliant. No swimming for me for a few days - dad in hospital - all seems OK now but I am doing a lot of hospital visiting and ferrying people to and fro and not much time left over for the pool. Hopefully will be able to get a swim in next week.
  • Skipped the swim yesterday in favour of a 9mile walk (swimming is much easier than that!). Back in pool this morning for 2.8km in 55 mins.
  • Love that pool - I have never swum in anything like that before. Missed a couple of days swimming last week but made it yesterday. Did a lot of legs only with fins, which made a nice change (250m front, 250m back, 200m side and some fly drills with fins). Went to another branch of my gym this morning - very nice, quiet 4…
  • Nice swim this morning - 2km in 40 mins and 5 seconds - quite happy with that. Finished with 500m mixed strokes (no fly). Reading about the tumble turns makes me think I should stop being lazy and start incorporating them more into my swims..... sounds exhausting though.
  • Not such a good morning this morning - pool was crowded with people swimming different paces and switching from free to drills etc constantly so it was hard for me to get a rhythm going. Stuck it out for 1.8km then had enough (particularly with the girl who would rest at the end, then as soon as I was about to turn to…
  • I am one of those that eats ALL or almost all of my calories back - not normally on the day, but I calculate out over the week so that at the weekends I can go for a nice meal / have a few beers and not worry about it. I tried not eating them back for a couple of weeks whilst trying to lose weight and didn't lose an ounce,…
  • Good morning - AQ - I am very impressed with the tumble turns - I can only manage these when I am doing sprints and not for a long swim (but I know I should....). This morning was 1km in 19mins 50 secs (woo hoo - under the 20 min mark at last!). 5 x 100 sprints and 10 x 50 m sprints followed by a 200m cool down.
  • Oh Emma - that is not good. Hope it doesn't take overly long to heal. I haven't posted on here for a few days, but have been swimming. Have been doing quite a lot of sprints which I am enjoying.
  • 2.5km free in 50 minutes. The pool was too crowded to do drills, but I did manage a cool down of back and breast for 300m to finish off.
