This will be my 2nd contest- I found telling people about the contest to be really good motivation. Once you tell enough friends, you feel "committed" to compete- it helped get me through some rough patches during my 1st comp. Weekly (or bi-weekly) photos uploaded to my MFP page was a also big motivator for me. I made the…

Yo! I did one in April - feel free to friend me or PM me w questions. I started weight lifting six months out (rotated w cardio) but I didn't get serious w dieting until 8 weeks out. I don't know my body fat. I wrote a post about my experience in the forums tho. Good luck! I recommend it- definitely one of the weirdest and…

90 lbs down, always looking for more active friends! (I will de-friend if you don't log on for more than 10 days) :)

It's the holidays, so people stop logging in and I've lost all my friends lol. Would love some more active friends!

It can be difficult, but get some 5 or 10 pound weights and lift for 10 or 15 minutes in the morning or when you get home from work and you are microwaving/cooking/whatever. Or get up 15 minutes earlier and go for a mile run in the morning to jump start metabolism. Take your lunch hour or lunch half hour and go for a walk.…

I think I read about it in "The End of Overeating". Too lazy to find it, lol. I'm not trying to claim it as an excellent example of scholarly research to back up my claim- obviously I don't remember sample sizes or p values or any of that important stuff. But it's general food for thought. It is my opinion and personal…

No, because "all calories are not the same". The best example of this is an experiment where they gave one group of people 100 calorie Apple as a snack and another group 100 calories of cookies as a snack and monitored their weight. Since the calories are the same, they should gain weight equally, right? Instead they found…

Ground flax seed (looks like flour, find it in the flour section) is amazing. Blends well into oatmeal or smoothies and has a slightly nutty taste. It's 70 cals for 2 tbs. I take it with breakfast and dinner and easily reach my fiber goal! (Also no bloating or gas like I get with Fiber One bars or broccoli!) :)

How long have you been cutting for? If it's more than two or three months, I would definitely incorporate a little "rest" time for your body by adding some more calories back in for a limited amount of time. You can play with it to see how you feel in response to the extra cals and how your weight fluctuates. Good luck!

I'd be happy to look at your diary and exercise and give you feedback! I sent us a friend request. I work in the medical field and have lost 100 pounds, so I feel I usually have a couple good tricks and tweaks to share! :)

No. It's a scam. It's a cult. Run! Save yourself! Before the measuring cups and fitbits and fiber get ya!

Bile, which helps break down fat, is stored in the gallbladder after it is made in the liver. So by removing the gallbladder, you are losing the "storage" portion of bile, but your liver still makes it and uses it to break down foods. You can get some indigestion (greasy stools, abdominal pain, and bloating) if you eat too…

Because misery loves company, I will tell you that my worst binge ever involved a whole tin of papa johns brownies, a whole cookie pizza, a large thin crust pizza, and lots of alcohol (obviously). And yes, the next day was absolutely the most miserable I have ever felt in my life, lol. I have never eaten there again. Chin…

90 down, 2 year maintanence :) added! (Also I love everyone in this bar!) ;)

I'm a little confused- What do you think will happen if they comment that you've lost weight or ask about your dieting? I think it's admirable to try to be healthy. Say "thank you" and then change the subject if you don't want to talk about it.

You might be too fit for walking to be sufficient exercise. Try incorporating 1 minute jogging for every 1 minute walk and I betcha it will start your weight loss! Also, I didn't look at your diary, but stop eating any food that has a mascot (I heard that last week and it cracked me up). Swapping lean protein, like chicken…

Yuuuuup. Or not so much lost friends, as the nature of our relationship changed and we just had very little common ground and stopped hanging out. They get upset/frustrated with me wanting to talk macros and exercise routines and clean eating and I get upset/frustrated by the fact that every activity has to revolve around…
