His past health condition may affect which foods would work best for him. So, if he has trouble digesting fat (like with a gallbladder or intestinal absorption problem) high fat foods like butter and peanut butter would not work well bc they’d not be absorbed well, and just cause gas and diarrhea. In that case, straight…

I hear ya. It doesn’t seem fair that strength training feels like a real workout (bc it is!) and it makes you hungrier, but doesn’t affect the scale even close to the way that running 2-3 miles does. *tear*

I’m really interested to see if OP could reproduce her symptoms at home (from the laying down to standing test), strongly suggesting orthostatic hypotension, or if she can’t reproduce it, which means it’s likely something else and I’m wrong. *chin hands*

I think you all bring up valid points! However, I still haven’t changed my opinion that she doesn’t need to see a doctor, the same way I wouldn’t recommend seeing a doctor for a sprained ankle or one migraine or day of stomach pains. I think the internet has a way of herding people towards rare and frightening scenarios…

I don’t think you need to see a doctor. This is classic orthostatic hypotension. The treatment is to drink more water and increase your salt intake. Essentially, when you stand up, blood rushes to your feet/legs. Your blood pressure temporarily “spikes” to push the blood up to your chest and head. If you are dehydrated or…

I disagree with the above posters. I think it is related to your class- namely overexertion coupled with dehydration and/or heat. This exact thing happened to me several times after I pushed myself too hard- once while running in the summer (an hour run), twice after finishing 10ks, and after my half marathon. I had runny…

I like your enthusiasm! I personally would set a less ambitious/more achievable goal (like losing 30 lbs this year or 4 lbs/mo for the remaining months) so it’s definitely attainable (as 125 lbs corresponds to 15 lbs/mo or 4 lbs/week which is just not do-able for 99% of people).

Treat yourself no differently than you would treat a child. They don’t LIKE broccoli or brushing their teeth or showering, but you make them do it because it’s important. Don’t use the excuse that they’re a child (or they have autism) as an excuse to “get out” of it. (Which my brain does too! It’s a phenomenon called a…

So, I'm a doctor (for realsies). Knees can be tricky because the pain is so hard to locate and a lot of structures overlap. Good news is its unlikely you strained your patellar tendon- it's really tough and hard to hurt. I'd put my money on patellofemoral syndrome, especially if the knee starts off painful in a run, goes…

I go by the "100 calorie" rule that I made up myself, lol. Let's say I set my calories for 1500 calories/day and overeat (let's say I eat 2500 calories that day). The next day I move my "baseline" goal to 1600 calories/day. If I overeat again (let's say 2500 calories) I move it up another 100 calories to 1700/day. I keep…

Answers like that can be found on the FAQ page (frequently asked questions) Since it is tricky though, I'm happy to walk you through it. There are two ways. #1: Click on a person's user icon or name. Click on their username again. In the upper right corner, click on the plus sign and the image of a little person. Fill out…

I always hope it's water weight, but I keep weighing myself just because there's a 50/50 chance it's PMS "oh yeah I just ate a carton of ice cream" weight gain. Lol

Wellbutrin is a med associated with mild weight loss (2-6 lbs). The side effects people don't like are fast heart beat, insomnia, and jitteriness. You also can't drink alcohol on it- like, FOR REAL. Not only does it lower the seizure threshold (so you are at increased risk of seizure if you drink) but it gives you the…

YouTube is great for beginners. Just type in "quick home weight routine", "arm weight exercises", or whatever you want. Be sure to watch a few of the videos from male instructors before you click on a female-instructed video. That way you won't get suckered into watching the two worst kinds of fitness videos- starving…

I had a similar issue at my lowest weight and I was always afraid of leading guys on or sending the wrong signals if I was overly friendly or dressed provocatively. It's definitely not a problem that's easily complained about (because let's be real, as a fat kid you want to punch anyone in the face who complains about…

I tell them I am the only "success story" of waist trainers and juice cleanses...I have no oxidants (because all of the anti-oxidants fixed them)...I subsist on 20 cups of green tea a day and 100 calorie Oreo snack packs and light Starbucks frappachinos. Ahahahaha, just kidding

I'd reckon it's your scale, hidden salt in food, or binge-eating. My scale bounces around 5 lbs or so in both directions every 12-18 months when it needs new batteries. Pretty disappointing to think I lost five lbs and then it was a total lie, haha. Another time, I was eating healthy choice soup twice a day and I gained…

Yup. Maintenance for me is going up and down about 5 lbs. When I indulge in bread over veggies, hamburger over chicken, alcohol over water, and cookies and ice cream over fruit, my weight floats up. Then I go back to a stricter diet, cutting out the bread, cookies, alcohol, etc until I lose the five pounds. Wash. Rinse.…

Yes, 1200 is too low. I guarantee it's going to be a struggle to stick to resulting in subsequent binges (I speak from experience here). Feel free to give it a go though and see how you do. I'm 1800-2100 at maintanence and 2400 if I'm exercising strenuously. It's possible, I swear. :)

WORD. Remarks that other people have made that make that make me twitch: -Are you sure you don't have a vitamin deficiency? You eat the same stuff over and over (Because my diet of spinach, brocolli, chicken, and nuts is totally vitamin deficient. Your diet of diet coke, chinese food, and pizza super balanced. -_- ) -You…

Four years to lose 110 lbs. Two years maintenance (with 20 lb re-gain) not shown because the MFP formatting of my photos is driving me insane. (Worst. Update. EVER.)

I used the RR (recovery record) app. It's aimed at tracking disordered eating and I have found it really helpful. :)

Always love more friends!

I'm a low-carber :) always like more friends!

I'm also a low carb-er- would love more friends on a similar diet!
