Played around with my squats and eventually settled on 79lb as my 5x5 working sets. I'm trying a much more narrow, parallel foot position and getting much lower than I was. I can really feel it working different muscles. Bench 5x5 @ 60.5lb and put a note that I need to move up next time. Bit nervous and excited about that.…

@jacksonpt I understand what you are saying, but have come across a simliar idea elsewhere. When trying to get girls to choose subjects such as science and engineering careers, using highly attractive role models is not a successful strategy because the girls can't relate.

The use of the word "girl" was one problem I had with the video, given that it depicts women. I guess it was a small enough word to fit in that box? Perhaps the target audience identify with the word "girl"? I'm also not sure about the focus on "hot" and "foxy", but again as a woman who is already physically active and…

I think you nailed it @mangrothian Apparently in the UK 2million fewer women then men exercise. In the rest of Europe there's no such disparity. Despite what some posters have claimed this isn't a marketing ploy, it's a public health message. Women should have the same access to physical health as men.

This is one of the things I'm most interested in for when I get my FitBit. Do you feel rested? Perhaps it's just too sensitive and saying you're not getting restful sleep when in fact you are?
-
I'm just catching up on iPlayer. I did the test and came out as 48% emotional and 42% constant craver. I think that's probably right, but I would be more interested in what my results were when I started my weight loss (I'm at maintenance now). Interesting ideas in the programme, as so often on MFP there's a very vocal…

Waiting impatiently for FitBit Charge HR. (Off to Google the Jawbone Up3 - you can't do too much research, right?).
-
Love it, really inspiring.

Back after a week off. Gym was mega busy at 6:30am and I was not impressed with how many *kitten* plates had already been left lying around in the first half hour. I nearly did the classic, "Does your mum come here?". But I didn't. Squat was deloaded for form, at all sorts of weights, but was still so difficult. It wasn't…

I was drinking soya milk, but it makes the PTs suck air, so I've moved on to unsweetened almond milk. I agree with @lolly715 that it seems to last a lot longer than real milk.

I thought this was somebody trying to wean themselves off Cadburys...

Put your details in to here, http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/ 3-4lb per week is not a reasonable expectation. You should be eating about 1500 calories per day.
-
I don't know what I mean. I guess it's just been very slow progress with the OHP and Bench. I go up, fail three times, go down. Increase reps, go up, fail... Then with the other lifts I've deloaded, because even though my weights were going up, I was losing good form. I'm planning on getting back to it on Tuesday, I'll see…

Hi @chrissie351 what are tummy wraps? What results do you get?
-
I have never heard this. Why does saturated fat and pasta and bread in particular lead to a flabby tummy?
-
Thanks for the lovely reply @MissHolidayGolightly Regarding this bit, I meant, what if I'm not lifting progressively. Not really adding more weight or more reps because I just seem to be struggling with the 5x5 where I am. Or perhaps I am still progressing, just not at the speed I was before.
-
Great idea for a thread. I'm taking a week of lifting. I just feeling grumpy with it and neither my heart nor my muscles seemed to be in it. I had toyed around with adding some core/abs additions but this thread has made me think about doing 3x5 in order to find the time to do some core/abs properly. Reading your posts has…

Yeah, let's go with banana. (Also, being nosy, where was that photo taken? The one with the coat hangers on the floor).
-
I love that video - such an obvious solution! (Disclaimer, I only watched about 5 seconds from @crabada 's recommendation.).

Kind of human-shaped? :) If the calculators are saying you're hourglass, then I guess you're hourglass shaped?
-
Well, you're eating so few calories perhaps this won't make a difference however I do notice that everything you weigh or measure out rounds to a nice 50g or 250ml.
-
I'd open your diary for more helpful advice. Are you eating back exercise calories, and if so, how are you measuring the number of calories burned?
-
Genuine question; are you being serious?
-
Hang on, we don't have to cut off our right breasts do we?

I think it's the one where you can only eat food that you killed with your bow-and-arrow or Level 2 magic spells. I may be getting confused here.

Well, I was just rubbish this morning, squats, bench and rows blah, blah, blah. Three interesting things happened. 1) I tried the parallel feet position again for the squats and this time it felt much easier. 2) A PT showed me his swollen ankle and photos on his phone of the same. 3) When I arrived I could see through the…

There's a norm on MFP to be very against the concept of "toning", so you're going to get some obtuse replies. The accepted wisdom is that there are two reasons you don't look toned (as the word is generally understood). You are too fat and therefore fat is covering your muscles or your muscles are too small and therefore…

Your criticism of her comments is that they are "unoriginal"? Fair enough.

Why you don't you just retweet her tweet about the nurse from Scotland then? That would probably get you enough hate to be going on with.
