I had lap band surgery July 2011 - so just over 4 years ago. I've been able to maintain an approx 90 lbs weight loss - down from my highest weight of 357. I'm not at my goal weight and to be honest I've been at a standstill for a couple of years. However, I blame that entirely on myself. I'm working to get back the mental…

I've been using coconut oil for a couple years as a moisturizer. I love it. I don't buy conventional lotions anymore. Usually a mix of coconut oil, shea butter, or cocoa butter. I've never really used it for cooking although I did buy a can of coconut oil spray a little while back. It seems to work as well as the other oil…

I can guarantee you there is nothing easy about weight loss surgery. I had lapband in 2011. I have to work just as hard as everyone else to lose weight. That means staying within calorie limits and incorporating regular exercise. There are ways to get around the band or the sleeve or the bypass. I'm always amazed at how…

Thanks tikafly. Very helpful feedback. Yes, I input the correct height/weight/age. It makes sense. I just didn't want to run the risk of overestimating my calories. I just wasn't expecting that high of a calorie burn for an activity that's not as high impact as spinning or body combat. It looks like I'll need to…

I can't say that I have. Then again, I'm pretty oblivious to things like that.

I don't even like cats but this thread is awesome. I laughed long and hard at this one!

I've never used it for cooking but I love it for my hair and skin.

I've wondered why people use those suits. Whenever I see someone wearing one I think about Martin Lawrence. That's what he was wearing when he was out jogging and had a heat stroke.

Personally, I think the "liability" excuse is bull hockey. If it were only a group focusing on exercise then I would buy that. But if they also offer classes on nutrition and meal planning then what heck is the liability in that. It really sounds like they gave you a lazy cookie cutter response. With a bmi of 61, really…

I'm not sure what Miley was doing, but twerking wasn't it. If you REALLY want to know what twerking looks like then google New Orleans Bounce. :) But as for Miley, I laughed. Knowing that her father is probably more embarrassed than anything.

I always find it funny how so many peoole get so emotionally invested in how another person chooses to describe himself. But anyway, I do think there is a reason why so many people choose to highlight their ethnicity alongside their nationality as it relates to Americans. This country is made up of immigrants and…

I love the nike running app on m phone. It's free to download. It keeps track of your distance and speed and over time tells you how you are progressing compared to previous runs. It's pretty nice.

I had lap band two years ago this month. And I have used MFP even before I had the surgery and continue to do so consistently today. I don't have any complaints about the lap band. I went into the surgery knowing the risks and the challenges. I personally was not comfortable with the idea of cutting out a large portion of…

He wouldn't have to say it to the patient in the room. The judgement and disgust would come through loud and clear.
-
Yes because you referred to her as disgusting. If you think that's never going to translate into how you approach your patients then you are mistaken. Your judgements will show and your patients will see it. Trust me, I've been there. I'm not trying to convince you to change or even shame you for it. We feel how we feel.…

I found this article to be really sad and my heart breaks for her becuase I can relate to the anger, frustration, and resentment of struggling with weight issues. I had to make the decision for myself and it wasn't until I truly started loving myself that I realized I am worth the hard work and effort to get the weight off…

The funniest I've ever seen was a man reading the newspaper while on the thigh adductor machine. He was going at a ridiculously fast pace with the newspaper spread wide open. I don't know how much benefit he got from it but I got a great laugh at just the visual.

Awesome job!

I will commend her on her dedication and discipline because it's obvious she has put in work. Personally, she doesn't have the physique that I find ideal. I aspire more of the Serena Williams look. To me, that's perfect.
