Using a vinyl sweat suit?

Ok, so looking for opinions. I have a limited time to do workouts (due to kids, work and life in general) so I was in a sporting goods shop the other day and bought a vinyl sweat suit (two piece). Since I am over my normal (back in the good ole days) running weight I want to get maximum use out of my exercise time since I am walking not running and thought this would be a good way to get into the zone a little faster.
I used this last night (just the top) and dropped 4 pounds on a 3 mile walk (I am at a 3.5mph pace), we all know this is water weight but there are some who say this is a good way to remove toxins from the largest organ in the body (skin)...
interested in my peeps of MFP, gurus and general input on the subject. I rehydrated with a gallon of distilled water afterwards.
Thanks
Rob

All it does is make you lose extra water weight, which you gain back when you rehydrate.
If you want your workout to be more productive, I recommend working out harder.0 -

It's making you sweat and dehydrating you not burning off fat. I can lose 3 or 4 pounds on a long bike ride without wearing a vinyl suit but it all comes right back once I rehydrate.0

What toxins does it remove?
The bad ones0 -
It'll just make you lose water weight and make your workouts less effective because you'll be too hot and uncomfortable to do your best.0

This!
And what toxins are being removed from your skin? There aren't really any there that need to be removed.0 -
You are setting yourself up for hyponatremia, don't do that.
When you sweat, you are losing salt + water. When you rehydrate with distilled water (bad!) you are just adding pure water. Yay, now your blood is full of water and no salt and all your cells will try to suck up that water and your brain will swell up and you die.
Ok, yes, that's the worst case scenario, but why would you even want to do anything like it?
If you don't have much time to work out, increase the intensity (sprints, HIIT, etc.) If you want to make weight for some kind of competition, wear the vinyl suit and rehydrate appropriately (WITH ELECTROLYTES) after your weigh-in.0 -
I've wondered why people use those suits. Whenever I see someone wearing one I think about Martin Lawrence. That's what he was wearing when he was out jogging and had a heat stroke.0

There is a person who wears one of those things at the park I run at sometimes. I saw her wearing it in 90 degree heat while running. And honestly, she looked miserable.
I honestly think it looks ridiculous, but to each their own I guess.0 -
All it does is force your body to sweat more, nothing else. It has shown no appreciable difference in fat loss or metabolic changes. Diet is the key, infact it accounts for 80% of your success. Add me as a friend and I WILL help you figure something out for great results.0

I am no doctor but I can say with some certainty that this is a BAD idea.0

I just can't. smh0

Saran wrap works good too.0

What toxins does it remove?
Iocaine powder residue. Can't be too careful.0 -

Vinyl? No.
Leather with spikes? Well, it worked in Pulp Fiction.0 -
You lose minerals too, calcium, sodium and potassium due to the excessive sweating, other than training for extreme circumstances, I don't see how it will be beneficial.0

I use a garbage bag like the guy in Silver Linings Playbook.0

3 mile walk at a 3.5 mph pace so you worked out for nearly an hour? That's a decent length of time. You would be far better served by doing a progressive strength training exercise for 45 minutes 3x/week than by forcing water weight loss. I get time constraints, I do, but I don't think this is a good solution.0

What toxins does it remove?
The same ones that sweating does?0 -
Next time get a 3 piece vinyl suit. With 4 buttons. Much more fashionable. That's how Steve Harvey would do it, anyway.0

You mean the guy with a mental health problem?0 -
Return the suit. Get a bench, barbell and plates. Use them 3x per week. Then do 30 minutes of HIIT on 3 days of the week you don't lift. Rest on the seventh day. Repeat. Eat sensibly and drink lots of regular water. You're welcome.0

Just don't drink water tomorrow. Wouldn't that be easier? If all you're trying to do is be slightly more dehydrated then that's even more simple.0
