Well, now that you mention it, I did not change drastically "what" I eat... except may be for burgers, too much pizza, some type of snacks, and stuff like that. Other than that, I've changed "how much" I eat, and how that food is cooked...

I love how we all make it work in the family! As someone else said, it's so much easier as a family :) You know what I love too? how my kids "help" with my workouts too. They're happy to "help daddy" do squats while they're on my shoulders hehe. But well, that's a topic for another forum.

The only people you should care what they think about your health is: you, your doctor, and to some extent, your significant other. Some people giving their opinion will do it because they truly care about you but are not aware of your health status (assuming it's good). Some other people are just nosey.

Congratulations on your success! you look great! And yes, you don't only look like a different person, you "are" different, with different goals, mindset, etc. Good for you! So, fwiw, here's a picture with my change so far, 1 year difference between both images.

Absolutely! cooking with the kids is a great experience! for bonding and learning :) And cooking with the wife can be a very romantic and/or fun date! Great stuff everyone...

Yeah, I don't know... I've seen many people eating very specific dietary stuff, but I'm curious how they manage it in their household. Regarding the "no food touches"... hmm, I think I'm not that strict, but, yeah, may be a little jealous regarding my portions :)

Hi there! congratulations on taking this step. It has worked for me, and hopefully you will all make it work for you too. You will eventually learn to eat smarter, exercise better, and it will pay off. Patience, persistence, and never give up! It is possible to make these changes.

@jenmar17, you remind me of Allison Brie

Moderation is the key to everything. Clean eating is a myth (http://evidencemag.com/clean-eating/)

Congratulations!

Mexicoke! (and no, I'm not mexican)

Amazing, jaw-dropping transformation! kudos to you, and yes, we should NOT give up. Congratulations!

And thank you everyone for your kind responses. And if by chance you have any question, first I'll be honored and humbled to help in any way, and I'll be glad to answer.

Hehehe, as matter of fact, I look a lot younger without the beard, but to be honest, if you see my profile pictures, I almost always wear a beard, so, that's part of me I guess...

You know? someone even asked my wife if she had re-married! :O come on! that was in front of me! but in a sense, I feel like a different person. A lot of things got rewired in my brain and in my heart :)

HAHA! well, I always thought I was a hottie :) It's just it's more noticeable now without all the extra weight :p

@verocuco, when I started this journey, I had a BMI of 40 (morbidly obese). Right now, I am at 26 (1 point away from "healthy" weight), but you know, BMI is not the only thing that matters. Losing weight is just a side effect of a healthy living. So, keep up working on yourself! MFP will help a lot, but it's just part of…

Thank you everyone! Well, my routines are mostly cardio (walk, run, bicycle), and body weight exercises (sit-ups, push-ups, burpees, squats, etc.) I haven't started formal weight training yet, and haven't been to a gym in years!
-
Thank you everyone, you're so kind!

If I ate whatever I wanted without exercise, I'd be the same guy I was 1 year ago... 270+ pounds and BMI of 40. Even in maintenance, I'll be watching/tracking my food/exercise for a long time... :)
-
I've found that increasing fiber and fat (OMG! yes, fat) will help you with that. Oh, and drink plenty of water :)

I think we're both hot :) By the way, today's her birthday! happy birthday baby! <3 <3

Happy anniversary!

I totally understand you. We all have those kind of days. But let me tell you, don't get discouraged! this is a life long run! there will be good days, bad days, great weeks, weeks where our effort seems fruitless... but keep going, keep going! you will get there! Think of it more like a lifestyle change, not a weight loss…

1 is fine, but 2 is funny :)

A simple solution. Start to walk. 20, 30 minutes daily. If you can swim, do it. But start to walk, that will take you to new levels where you can exercise more. I can tell you from my own experience, I started walking, and I couldn't do anything else. I now run, bicycle, lift, swim, and of course, I still walk :) Best of…

The less there is of you, the less calories you will need to consume. MFP adjusts your numbers after 10 pounds lost.

I keep in mind where I want to be, but also, set shorter, smaller goals. I'm some 10 pounds away from my ultimate weight goal, and I'm already working on my next goals (maintenance, muscle building, etc). The thing is to have always those goals in mind, and know this isn't just a 'weight loss journey'. It's a lifestyle…

The thing is... the goal shouldn't be only to lose weight, but to change your lifestyle. A lifestyle where you need to buy and drink XX brand shakes to nourish yourself isn't a very sustainable one. Learn to eat. Exercise. Rest. Repeat. That's it.
