At the beach... after 4 years! (pictures)
I took my family to this small hotel near the beach, and we had a wonderful time together! The special thing about this is that we were in this same place 4 years ago, when we were only 3. Now, we're four, and we're complete! So, why is this a success story? The pictures will tell... I feel now healthier, happier, and…

Sixth wedding anniversary - what a difference! (pic)
Last weekend we celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. It has been an amazing time with my best friend and lovely wife! A lot has changed in 6 years. House, cars, jobs, the kids... but we're definitely happier and healthier now! This is a picture to show you how this change of life has affected me, and my family. I'm…

Separated food only for you?
We all know we must do drastic changes in our food habits to be healthy and lose extra weight... but how do you manage it when you live with your family? Do you keep a separate food section only for you, and the other for your spouse/kids? Do you "make them" eat what you eat? In my case, I have shared the same food with…

One year difference (picture)
Well, nothing new here. This is just a reminder for myself and others that change is possible. This is me and my lovely wife exactly one year ago (02/14/2014), and the other picture was taken yesterday (02/15/2015). Almost 90 pounds lost (70 while using MFP), but most importantly, my life is much, much better now! I think…

One year difference. 70 lb down! (with pics)
Hello friends! I want to share just an update on my "new healthy lifestyle"... it's not just a "weight loss journey". It's a lifestyle change to be healthier. Back in 2013 I was up to 270 lbs., and suffered of high blood pressure and was on medication. That's my highest recorded weight. Then, by 2014, I had lost 10 pounds,…

Appealing to the community wisdom... what do you think about the TVP? is it a good and safe source of protein? is it worth eating? Thanks for your comments!

Sharing a little BMI victory
Today, according to BMI standards, I'm no longer Obese, but overweight. It's a small victory, and reminds me there is still a long path to walk, but today I feel good!. I started this year with a BMI of 37, and now it's 29. It's a great feeling!

Do you love your workout?
Do you actually like what you do to workout? or do you do it out of stubbornness or "that's what I must do"? or is your mentality "I must do it, no pain no gain". I'm practically new at this "fitness" life style, but in my humble opinion, you should do what you most enjoy, something you see yourself still enjoying 10 or 20…

Bad foods that are "good" for weight loss
I borrow the title from the article I just read I'll leave the link, and judge for yourselves: http://www.webmd.com/diet/ss/slideshow-bad-foods-that-are-good-for-weight-loss What do you think?

Slave to food (even healthy food)
I felt like I had to submit this to the community :) I've found that it's becoming hard not to think about food many times during the day. Not because I'm hungry, or have cravings, but it's a new state in my mind, how to eat healthy, what not to eat, and so on... I hope some day I can carry on without thinking much about…

How to start weight training at home?
Hi! All this time I've been working out only cardiovascular exercises. I don't go to the Gym, I still don't like it there... I go out walking, jogging, or riding my bike... but I would like to start weight exercises at home. Is there any practical advice? or some sort of guide to start? Should I keep doing cardio until I…

This is why MyFitnessPal works!
I found this article in Business Insider, and it's the story of a Dr that "found" the secret to lose weight... keep track of everything (food, exercise), learn about what are you eating. That's why MFP works, and for those who are committed to do it right, it really works! This is the article:…

From size 42 to size 36
I'm feeling pretty happy today. When I was dating my beautiful girlfriend, 6 years ago, she bought me a gift, a size 36 cargo pants. I loved them, but sadly, they were too small for me. She was going to return it, but I said, wait, let it be my motivation to lose weight, and we laughed at it. Time passed, and of course, I…

Are Nuts still allowed?
I'm a big fan of nuts, all of them (almonds, cashews, pistachios, peanuts, etc...) but now that I'm in my path to lose weight, are they still allowed? I know they're very rich in nutrients, but also in fats... Can I still eat nuts? what are the best (healthiest) nuts? Thanks a lot!
