Are Nuts still allowed?

I'm a big fan of nuts, all of them (almonds, cashews, pistachios, peanuts, etc...) but now that I'm in my path to lose weight, are they still allowed? I know they're very rich in nutrients, but also in fats...
Can I still eat nuts? what are the best (healthiest) nuts?
Thanks a lot!

Absolutely. I stick with the most natural form without the added salt and oils.0
-
Only if you activate them.0

I'm a big fan of almonds, personally. I do try to stay away from peanuts though as I tend to definitely overeat those.0
-
Hahaha, you wrote nuts so many times that it is really hard for me to even answer seriously.
Because, NUTS, am I right?
LMAO, I'm sorry. Honestly though, eat the nuts. They're good for you.0 -
Almonds are good for you! But I limited them to an ounce (28grams) a day.0
-
They are high in calories (i.e., calorie dense) but that doesn't mean you can't eat them. Weigh them and include them in your diet all you like!
Of course, I firmly believe "all food is allowed" just not "I'm allowed to eat all the food", if you get my drift.0 -
Go nuts!!
Just make sure you weigh them out and log them accordingly0 -
As long as you're accounting for the calories and they fit into your nutrition goals for the day, go for it! I include almonds and peanuts and peanut butter into my day pretty regularly. Don't be afraid of fats. They got a bad reputation in the 90s, but at least some dietary fat is necessary for good health. I aim for about .35 grams per pound of body weight as a minimum, but you can poke around and see what's best for you.0

Yes! I use them to curb my appetite when I'm dieting. But remember, a little goes a long way! Measure them out before you eat them.. its really easy to go overboard0
-
Nuts rule0
-
so I don't go overboard, I buy nuts already packaged and portioned. If I had an entire can, i wouldn't be able to resist eating the whole thing.0
-
See? Everyone loves nuts!0

Only if you activate them.
What do you mean by "activate them"?0 -

I ate and still eat my nuts and nut butters daily. Lost the fat weight, no problem. Enjoy your nuts within your calorie splits.0 -
meh... too easy....
---
short answer, yes. anything is still allowed as long as you don't have any allergies and they fit in your macros for the day.0 -
Yeah, I tend to eat a whole bunch of those when I can... but I guess I have to learn to measure it, right?...0

Peanuts are legumes and responsible for most diseases0

I LOL'd at your wording ... allowed is a funny word.
Nuts are great for you and they have good fats in them. You still need fat in your diet But if you're like me you tend to wanna eat a whole can of cashews ... don't do that0 -
Honestly though, eat the nuts. They're good for you.
I've heard that one before....0 -

Me too, that's why I date women now.0 -
Can you contiue to eat and enjoy them...sure...but is it the best path to take?
Many (most?) nuts are very high in fats and some in calories. Sure they have protein but when one looks at how much bang for the buck you can get, its not that great of deal.
For example, many protein bars have various nuts in them. But for say 15 grams of protein, you eat +300 calories. While having a protein shake will give you double the protein for sometimes less than half the calories.
While you are leaning out, you have to think where can I spend my hard earn calorie allowance to maximize energy/muscle growth.
BTW, I LOVE ice cream. Which is dairy and does have some protein in it...but I gave it up as I got serious in my cutting stage.
Bottomline: If you want results, you may have to give up those foods you really love.0 -

I like to weigh mine on a food scale since they're so calorie dense. But yeah, the definitely need to be portioned out somehow (weighed, measured, prepackaged bags, etc.).0 -

I know, right? like if I eat them I'll be in trouble... Thanks for your answer!0 -

I'll still chance it on a daily basis0 -

A handful of nuts is the perfect measuring tool. Seriously, put your hand in the bag and grab a handful where you can still touch your fingers to your palm. That's nearly always a single serving. It works for me.0 -
"Allowed"? Allowed by whom? Of course you may eat nuts. Nuts are high in fat--the good kind--and have been found, over and over, to be healhy and nutritious. It's very beneficial to eat nuts. Just be sure to eat a couple of handfuls and not a whole bag, of course. Common sense... like any other food.0

Peanuts are legumes and responsible for most diseases
You're right, peanuts are legumes... but we tend to classify them as "nuts".
Most diseases? what diseases are related to peanuts? (other than food allergies)0 -
Log em, stay in a deficit, hit your macros and you will be A-OK!0

Love nuts. In and around my mouth. Wait, what?0
