Again, mostly water retention. We spent the weekend…
  • I’m currently using and enjoying the Nike Training Club app, which has a lot of 30 minute workouts. It’s also free, which is always a plus. You can create a program where you tell it which equipment you have access to, etc.

Hoping that 2.4 lb gain is mostly water weight. TOM + a…
  • Hey! Congrats! I’m also getting married in September. I set out three months ago with a goal to lose about 19 lbs by then. I’m currently about 1 pound away (but I know I’m going to have some tough weeks of travel/socializing/eating and drinking ahead, so I don’t quite consider myself nearly finished yet). It get harder as…

I've been slowly finding my rhythm on the food front, and getting better about meeting my targets. Workouts, however, I am really losing motivation…
  • Hey! Count me in on this support thread. I’m getting married in just over 3.5 months, hoping to hit goal soon so I can start recomp (I’ve got about 4 lbs to go). My mom’s also making my dress @laurenbastug — we’re doing the final fitting in early August.
  • I do weigh in regularly, but try to keep track of little non-scale victories (finding an excersize that was really hard actually bearable, being able to do something I couldn’t before, upping my weight on something I was stalled on, not feeling winded doing something I usually would). I find that keep track of those things…
  • I love this thread, because it is super inspiring to see big losses, but also not something I can personally really relate too. About six (six?!) years ago, I hit an all-time high weight (for me) or 175 pounds. I'm 5'9" and this put me *just* int the overweight category. I got on MFP, started moving more and being more…

I feel like I’m finding my groove a bit more. We had some people in town this weekend, and while I didn’t meet my caloric goals, I also didn’t go nuts, and I think…

Last month was a bit of a doozy, so I’m resolving to be a bit better about food, etc this month. I still saw some progress though. I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m trying to reach my…
  • I think it’s pretty normal to see a big loss when you first start and then it slows right down - especially when you’re close to goal. I have also found that if I go slower and don’t myself up over messing up along the way, the weight loss is a lot more sustainable. Eat well, log calories at a reasonable rate of loss,…

  • I lost about 30 pounds a while back, going from the low end of an overweight BMI to the mid-range of normal. I found that people didn’t really notice the loss until I was close to my goal. I’m also tall (5’9”) so I think that makes the loss a bit less dramatic. Towards the end of things, people started to ask if I’d lost…
  • You look fantastic!
  • I’m 5’9” and currently hovering around 145 lbs. i currently have my goal in around 135, which I’ve been at healthfully before. I think numbers vary so much person to person, and on so many different factors. Right now I’m at a good weight, but am visibly carrying a bit extra. I’m also trying not to stay too fixated on the…

  • I definitely agree that you should listen to your body and not put too much stock in your BMI. I’ve found it’s helpful to calculate your body composition as well — losing fat but gaining muscle will get get closer to how you want to look more than a number on the scale. There are some great success stories on here from…
  • I get this and I think it’s why it took me so long to get back to it and try to lose the last 10 pounds off my original weight loss goal. I have a wedding coming up now which gives me the excuse of “yeah, I know I don’t *need* to lose weight, but I want to look good in that dress” and somehow that’s more socially…
  • I agree with @bribucks that the best route is to log, and be careful about eating too many of your exercise calories back (I personally find it works best when I up my activity level, but don’t track exercise calories at all). 6 pounds by May 22 (8ish weeks from now) isn’t impossible. I also find that when I’m up a few…

  • Welcome! I totally get the emotional eating. I find tracking really helps me because it forces me to weigh how much I actually want to eat that emotional food. It also allows me to eat anything I want - so eating candy for example doesn’t blow the whole diet - but having to budget calories forces me to make better…

  • Yes! I really like the MFP reminds me when it’s time to recalibrate. The overall difference between now and goal is about 60 cals less, but the overall goal of increasing my calories is to sort of work myself back up to maintenance (while still losing, just at a slower rate).
  • I'm 5'9", CW 144 GW 135ish. I just started back on this, and am currently shooting for around ~1500 a day, which is what MFP sets for ~1lbs/week. It seems to be working, and isn't too hard to stay within. Once I hit the 130s, I'll probably bump that up to ~1750 or .5lbs/week.
  • @Starflight00: Thanks for the tip - I'll track both, as well as inches lost. Just generally know that at this point toning up is more important than seeing the scale go down. @2tall4thisworld: I'm the same when it comes to ingrown hairs. The only thing that has worked for me beyond not shaving is laser hair removal. It…
