  • I had shin splint on right leg only. Thought it was a tumor, and it was from using a cheap stepper that banged on the floor a bit. Now I go to a gym and use the good stuff. Non-impact is the way to go until it goes away. I do elliptical and spinning.
  • As long as you are drinking lots of water lots of fiber shouldn't be a problem.

  • I smoked for 5 years, quit for 5 years, smoked for 9 more years, and now have quit for 21 years. Here's the deal. You'll always want one, you just have to say no. It gets easier with time. Make it difficult to smoke in the first place. No smoking in the car, no smoking in the house. Then quit. FIrst it's getting through…
  • I have a timex hrm, and I know that the algorithm it uses doesn't subtract what i would burn if I didn't do anything, so what I did was sit down with my heart rate monitor going for an hour and I watched tv. Turns out that in an hour I burn 120 calories just existing for an hour. For me, that's 2 calories per minute. So if…
  • I work chocolate into my calorie goal for the day. I just don't eat it often.
  • Nut butters. Peanut butter. Olive oil. Yum!
  • Well, what's wrong with making breakfast the biggest meal of the day. It is the best way to go. I have a salad for dinner every night and that's it. I've got feta cheese and chick peas in it, and if I really need extra calories, I'll add avocado. You could have a PB&J for dinner. Peanut butter, or any nut butters are very…
  • It's sounds like something my kid said when we were potty training. Didn't mean to offend anyone, those are fond memories.
  • Well, I'm on the fence about it because I'm just not sure what part of the turkey it's coming from. Take turkey bacon, 2 slices 70 calories, but regular center cut pork bacon 3 slices 70 calories. Go figure,
  • Is it all eggs or just chicken eggs? I can't eat chicken eggs but I can eat duck eggs. You should find out.
  • 5'4" and 138 lbs of tight toned athletic muscle baby, yeah!
  • I'm cow dairy free, but I can have goat milk products. I do take a food based calcium supplement, and it's not derived from any dairy at all. I have to take it later in the day because I'm on Levothyroxine for thyroid, but this stuff is great. Look for food based calcium at the health food store.
  • I truly feel, that the same way anorexics have a distorted body view and think they are fat happens the opposite way for morbidly obese people. Lord, even I didn't really see how huge I was at my top weight. Unfortunately, I don't believe any studies have been done to verify this, so it's only a theory on my part. I do…
  • Old Yeller... I'll cry forever with that one.
  • Listen, your skin will go back to normal, but it takes it longer to get there then the rest of your body. Keep exercising, moisturize, and give your body time. The rule of thumb is that if it took you 3 years to get to your top weight, it will take 3 years for your skin to go back to normal. You slowly stretched your skin…
  • They don't call them the classics for nothing. Books that are so good people read them 100 years later means that they are REALLY good and timeless. I've got a ton of favorites, but here's a starter: The Count of Monte Christo - sex, revenge, bad guys, adventure, hope, despair - it doesn't get any better than this The…
  • Are there stairs where you work? A staircase? Buy some small weights and spend 10 minutes climbing the stairs with the weights. Do this on your breaks and at lunch, so 3x = 30 minutes. Start with one or 2 lb weights and 1 to 2 x a day. Screw what everyone else may think at work They're just jealous because you've ruined…
  • ok, I'll be posting pictures soon, but I've had cats in my life for 45 years. They never judge, they love me whether I'm heavy or thin, and they usually do something a brighten up my day. I'm grateful the critters have accepted me into their pride.
  • I can't eat breakfast first thing as I have an autoimmune disease, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, and I take my medicine when I first wake up and then have to wait an hour. Also, I have tons of food sensitivities, so chicken eggs out, but I get fresh duck eggs from a small farm down the road from me. I've always pushed for the…
  • God's little joke on us all. We have to eat to lose weight. You need to never eat below 1200 calories. You need to use a food scale and measure everything that passes your lips. Strength train 2 days a week, cardio 4 to 5, and eat back 1/2 your exercise calories.
  • cut the carbs and eat more protein. Carbs can stimulate your appetite. You eat a carb, and an hour later your body wants more. Carbs are anything that your body turns to sugar. Anything made with wheat like bread and pasta, or rice, potato, chips of any kind, fruit, yes fruit. Fruit is high is sugar. Veggies such as corn…

  • Every time I look in the mirror, kid, every time.
  • Stop doing his laundry. Make sure you have clothes for yourself and the kids. With your time work out, but don't let him know. When he wants his clothes tell him you didn't have time but don't tell him why, don't tell him you're exercising. Then he can't yell at the kids, or you, he can't sabotage your exercise, and he's…
  • Let it go. As an ex-waitress I've had plenty of customers that sucked. Don't take it personally. People are stupid and there's nothing you can do about it. Don't let that crap get in your head. It's just not worth it.
  • Although many are here, including myself, to support you, you have to make the decision to stick to it. So you ate something you shouldn't. Log it. You'll be surprised that maybe you didn't go over your calories for the day. But at least you'll see what you need to change. Stop lying to yourself. You are worth this. Why do…
  • There's a great movie from the 1980's that all women need to see. It's called Looking for Mr. Goodbar, with Diane Keaton. It's not a comedy. Please be very, very careful. Don't give out your full name, don't get in a car with him, don't give him your address. Keep all personal information out of it. There are many sick…
  • IMPORTANT! Blood work may be inconclusive when it comes to Hashimoto's. That's why I was misdiagnosed for so many years. The blood work said I was ok. But I had small goiters, (lumps) in my thyroid and the one great doctor I went to did an FNA, Fine Needle Aspiration, where they stick very fine needles into your thyroid…
  • Buy a whole chicken, roast it and then remove most of the meat. That's one meal. Then take all the bones and put it in a pot and boil it in chicken broth, (Trader Joes chicken broth $1.99 for a big thing of it). If you can do two cartons of chicken broth, great, but one is ok, and then two cups or so of water. Lightly boil…
  • After the balls comment, anything I would say will just be anticlimactic.
