Eating wheat free, no it don't come easy
Not just gluten free, but wheat free, and for me personally any sprouted grain. That doesn't leave me much and cooking can be a challenge. I've tried corn flour and rice flours when sauteing, but rice flours have a low heat tolerance and burn quicker. Anyone tried any bean flours? Like chick pea flour and the like? Haven't…

Trying to lose weight while eating Fast Food and Candy
Ok folks, I run the risk of being beaten into the ground but I just don't get how anyone can think they can lose weight while eating Fast Food and Candy. I've seen some food diaries out there and I'm amazed at what some people eat. I realize that counting calories allows us to eat anything we want as long as we're within…

What do you use when weighing food, ounces or grams?
I have a scale that gives me both, but I'm thinking that grams are more accurate. When working with ounces there's a bit of leeway, but with grams it's so exact and there's no play. I weigh everything. I hate the food listings on here that say 1 cup or 1/2 cup, because that means nothing. You have to weigh it, because…

Introductions
Hi, I'm ahavoc and I have multiple food sensitivities which make eating in general a challenge. My symptoms range from hives, break outs, intestinal pain, diarreah, headaches, migraines, bloating, and feeling like crap when I eat something I'm not supposed to. Here's a partial list of what bothers me, either by itself or…

Other benefits of going to the gym besides working out....
First, let me say that I love men. Even when they're really in touch with their inner jerk. I love them. I'm a flaming heterosexual. For those of you who might be embarrassed about going to a gym, let me tell you something that helps keep me motivated. I'm a 55 year old overweight female and I go to a gym. I do cardio and…

need friends who will respond to posts
I've been on mfp for a while, and I log my diary, I log my exercise, I post comments, and I rarely get any comments from my "friends" although I comment on their entries. I'm looking for people who want to support me and would like me to support them. Don't seem to have that right now. I don't care if you're 20 or 90,…

Yeah, yeah, I know....
I re-injured my back in June 2012 and dropped off of here for a while. I checked in in fits and bits, but I'm here now. But as a consequence I'm heavier than I've ever been in my life, 5'4" and 217. It's awful. Anyone that says menopause doesn't have any effect on women can kiss my hiney, cause they can't miss it it's so…

Does anyone use any of the apps? Are you happy with them?
My heart rate monitor has broken, and I'm not sure whether to just get a replacement of the one I had or if any on the APPS page are any good. What apps do you use and are you happy with them? How are the HRMs on the APP page? Have at it!

Husband wants me to wear sexier clothes but I just can't
Ok, I have been on MFP for over a year and I've stalled out a bit. Haven't lost any weight in months and re-injured an old back injury and am only now starting to get back on the workout track. Aerobics only, no weight training yet. I'm going slow because I couldn't work out at all for three months and I don't want that to…

I need a kick in the *kitten*, I need to get my mojo back!
I was going great for almost a year, then late May I injured my back which already wasn't that great. I couldn't work out for three weeks and it's been real slow going getting back into the routine. My husband gave me grief today because I have gained weight back, and it's just depressing. I'm hungry all the time too.…

What do you do when you're sick? Do you diet? Do you exercis
I've got this stupid head cold with bad reaction to all the tree pollen that's out very early this year which is tweaking my asthma and wrecking havoc with me. I haven't worked out for two days as I can't stop coughing. Maybe got 5 hours of sleep after finally giving up lying down and sleeping in my recliner in the living…

No longer obese...
Today, by about four tenths of a pound, I am finally no longer obese but simply overweight. I have a ways to go still, but I think I'll allow myself a little smile about it. Ok, now I'm done. Back to work, working out, logging my food, and keeping on going.....

The secret to losing weight...
OK. I keep seeing the same posts about not losing, or not losing fast enough, or gaining weight, or gaining weight back after hitting goal, and weight loss questions in general, and thought I would share the secrets to losing weight forever. First, for those of you who have the notion that there will come a magic day when…

Cow milk allergy
Cow milk kills me but I've had luck with goat milk, and goat and sheep milk products. Anyone else used these, and how are they for cooking? How about soy milk? rice milk? Anyone?

Who's got allergies/sensitivities to food? Let's talk!
I do. Mine top one's are wheat, cow milk and anything made with it, peanut butter, tree nuts, strawberries, and chicken eggs. There's quite a few more that I'm sensitive to, but can eat with care. Food combos can really get me. I will either break out in hives, or if I eat too many I shouldn't, go into Anaphylactic shock,…

What did you do to overcome your plateau?
Although this has been discussed in the past, I thought if everyone put what they did to push through their plateau we could all get great ideas. I've increased my cardio, increased my weights, and will be adding the rower to my elliptical workout to confuse my body a bit.

What did you do to stay on track when you've been injured?
I woke up today and my knee was killing me. Could be the weather, as there's a front moving in by the name of Irene, but yesterday while stretching out I had a big hamstring cramp on the back of my thigh running hip to knee. I know it's my hamstrings, and that's actually caused by a pelvic/hip injury from years ago. DRAT!…

Do you weigh in with your shoes on or off? Opinions needed!
Ok, so today I jumped on the scale at the gym, and I was really pleased with what I saw, but then I realized I was wearing my shoes, and have been since I started here on MFP. Now I've had two bouts of Weight Watchers over the years, and weigh-ins consisted of stripping off everything you possibly could to make that scale…

Do you work out when you're sick?
I feel like I'm getting a cold, always a set back for me. I've got the beginning post nasal drip, the sinus pain, it sure seems like it. I started taking my elderberry zinc lozenges to thwart it, but I'm supposed to work out tomorrow, and weigh in or course, so I'm wondering, how does everyone else handle being ill and 1)…

Hello
Started here a week ago. I'm the heaviest I've ever been in my life, and have a few health issues that don't help. I've dieted and lost weight before, but this is the first time I'm working out and dieting. It was always one or the other. I've already lost a little, and don't plan to stop anytime soon. But I know what I'm…

Food Sensitivites / Allergies and Dieting
I have many food sensitivities / allergies, and I've been putting off trying to diet but I'm committing myself to it now. I was tested for 49 different foods and had a reaction to 42. Some worse than others so I have to be careful with combos, and carry my epie pen with me. Top five worst - Dairy - (anything cow milk, even…
