  • I hurt more now when i don't excercise. when I started I hurt more at the beginning. Don't worry, you'll get is all back. You can do it!
  • Stretching, posture, and do you do strength training? I would get back pain if I put the tension up to 3 or above. I started strength training and now I can go up to 7, and I'm getting stronger all the time. I would suggest slowly adding strength training into your program.

  • I believe cinnamon is one of the most common "spices" so yes, you have to be careful. Again, see if you can make things from scratch. Do an experiment with allspice and cloves to see if you can find an alternative.
  • You mean I have to pick just one?
  • I have multiple food sensitivities and have to watch everything I eat. My top problems are wheat, cow milk, peanut butter, strawberries, but I had a reaction to 43 of the 49 things I was tested for. Here's what I've learned. Sometimes it's not just gluten, it can be wheat. Mix up the grains. Use corn flour, oat flour,…
  • Cinnamon is grated tree bark, and I'm allergic to many kinds of trees. I ate something with cinnamon in it and got the "itchies". I have multiple food allergies/sensitivities, and you've just got to read labels on EVERYTHING. Mostly I cook from scratch. Turns out better than the store bought and I can control what's in it.
  • I've had Hashimoto's for 24 years. Went misdiagnosed for 6, then got the right doctor. I work out 6 days a week, I log everything I eat, and the weight is coming off. Don't use your Hashi's as an excuse! Exercise is the key! Also, once you start on your medication your thyroid is basically shut off and it kind of shrivels…
  • Can't pick just one. All of my friends here try so hard, sometimes fail, pick themselves up and keep going, and we do it all together. Each one is a link in my support chain, and I salute them all.
  • Ok, the skinny on water. Your body only has 5 quarts of blood in your system and it has a lot to do. It brings food to your cells, takes out the garbage, provides oxygen, carries sophisticated messages and chemicals and floods your cells with goodness. You want to keep your blood flowing smoothly, and dehydration stops all…

  • I didn't know I had problems until I had a skin test done. I thought I was allergic to strawberries, and I'm very sensitive to them, but found out I had even more problems. Whenever I get a re-check skin test I always go analphylactic, as I'm having so many reactions all at once. There's nothing easy about it. I read,…
  • The only time I ever missed a period was when I was pregnant. But if that's not the case, you might have your thyroid checked out. The Thyroid regulates so many things, and if you're having insomnia and the loss of your period, the first thing that came to mind to me, is thyroid. Overactive possibly. You don't have to lose…
  • Christmas Eve - Lasagna (I make) Christmas Day - Roast Beef, Baked Potato, veggies (At brother-In-Laws) I'll be making Pecan Pie and Chocolate Pudding Pie and I'll get Lobster for Lobster salad rolls
  • I've seen them all. It's the crappy popular movies I don't see. I never saw Staying Alive, or Flashdance, that stuff, or the one they just remade, Footloose, old or new. Do yourselves a favor, because when you see the really good ones and educate yourself to what great film is all about, the mediocre stuff is unbearable.
  • So they can charge us more, silly! Bigger plate, bigger price! But seriously folks, the entire idea of portion control has gone out the window. If you really measure your food, and see what a true 2 oz portion of dried pasta cooked looks on your plate, or weigh that 4 oz of cooked rice and 4 ounces of chicken, that's when…
  • That will happen, but the most important thing is to keep going. Many people quit because they revert to the "old me", but that old me will always be there, it's part of the new me, and the fact that you recognize it is success in itself. Go you!
  • I didn't use to eat breakfast, but now I do, because my metabolism was absolutely slow as molasses. Big difference. I try to eat more protein at breakfast, because I don't get as hungry later as I do when I eat carbs. So I'm talking about 3 pieces of turkey bacon, or jerky, and maybe some oatmeal.
  • There's no problem with losing weight while breastfeeding, you just don't want to do it too quickly. There is a process called ketosis that happens when you're losing weight and not getting enough carbohydrates in your diet. Your baby won't get everything it needs from your breast milk. Please make sure to check your diet…
  • You could have 5 scales and get 5 different readings. Really, they are only a guide. People put way to much emphasis on what the scale is saying. Workout, weigh yourself every 2 weeks at the same time wearing the same clothes. You will have a much better idea as to what your weight loss is that way without going crazy over…
  • Well, you know that it's better for your metabolism to spread it out, eating every 2-3 hours to keep your engine burning most efficiently, but now and again, I can't really see that it's a problem. Danny, you so silly!
  • I was given a Timex HRM with chest strap for free. It does what I need it to do. In terms of HRM it said the same thing that the elliptical said in terms of what my heart rate was. Both said I had burned 462 calories doing my 45 minute sprint program on the elliptical. But then I did my strength training, and when I do…
  • In doubly no less ! And as a musician, let me tell you that Spinal Tap is not a comedy. It's just too true. Our drummers didn't blow up, but a lot of our equipment did, and vans breaking down, singers drunk, or worse, and forgetting the lyrics, or even reading the lyrics on stage. We auditioned one guy and he was great but…
  • Well, I may not have any flour that is derived from sprouted grains, so no rye or barley or buckwheat or any of that stuff for me either. It's kinda like a grass allergy. And since coming here I too don't eat a lot of carbs any more, rice or otherwise. But I can eat oats! Corn chips! pop corn! I also make two meals or…
  • as long as you log it
  • Congratulations on figuring it out that the only way to keep your success is to do this forever. You can't return to old habits, they're what got you here in the first place. Make your new habits and keep them instead.
  • Part of you wants to and part of you doesn't. We've all had the same problem, or we wouldn't be here on MFP. When you are ready and determined you will fight that inner demon and let it know who is boss. Why don't you think you deserve to be healthy? thinner and fitter? Why do you think you sabotage your journey? Work in a…
  • I was hesitant to begin my strength training, but now find it is helping me in so many ways. I have a funky back and hip, but strengthening my muscles and core is helping with them so much it isn't funny. I can't wait to get to "normal" weight wise and strength wise.
  • I just posted this on my home page. Hope it helps. Muscle confusion. Ok, if you do the same workout over and over, your body gets used to it and kind of stalls and our metabolism slows. You have to change things up to "confuse" it and keep it from getting used to what you're doing. So, I do the elliptical all the time, but…
  • If you can, get a workout bench and some weights. You can do a lot with just a little, and a little goes a long way. Get 3, 5, 8, 10 lbs to begin with. You can do it.
