the best thing is to cross train - so make sure you have a good variety of workouts. Walking, running, zumba, biking, weight training, resistance training, and interval training are all great ways to lose weight! Not only does the variety help with weight loss, but it keeps things interesting! Best of luck to you! :)

Zumba.com is where you can find the DVD's, but they are bringing out new ones shortly, that will be vastly improved production wise from the previous set! I've already pre-ordered mine, and I'm an instructor! LOL!

Starbucks has some great low calorie options, if you go nonfat and with sugar free syrup! Save on the $$ and order a Caffe Misto instead of a Latte - it's the same thing, but with coffee instead of espresso, and costs like $2 less! I burn about 700 calories in a 45 minute class, 900 in a one hour class, and 1200 if I teach a one hour class! :)

Like others have said, Zumba is self paced! If you go to a class that has a lot of jump moves, just don't jump! Do what you can, and just have fun! The HRM I have does keep track of my heart rate throughout the workout - if that's what you mean by continuous heart rate monitor? Well, Zumba isn't an option under the pre-defined workouts on MFP, so I've been using Dance, Aerobic, Modern and Twist. It would tell me that for 45 minutes I was burning 318, which is a HUGE difference. Maybe that's been wrong all this time? My friend makes what they call Noodles and Breadcrumbs. She cooks the noodles in salted water, then sautees them in a pan with butter (can probably get away with using something a little lower cal) and then adding breadcrumbs to them. You can also just do buttered noodles with broccoli and parmesan cheese :)
