I've heard so much about Zumba, even looked into classes in my area. This week I finally received the push that I needed to make me start going! A work colleague has just started the classes and I am actually jealous of her!!! How insane is that.

So, i've looked it all up and there's two classes on a Monday night near me. So, that's it i'm going to start going, I can't put it off any longer. I wanted a friend to go with me but she's just started a new job so won't be able to make the classes :-( I need to stop being a whimp and JUST DO IT!!!

I am also going to be buying myself a Polar FT7 HRM! And I'm really excited about it all. Hopefully it'll arrive before Monday so I can wear it for my first class. I'm looking forward to being able to calculate the exact amount of calories burnt and hopefully start to see some weight shifting. I've kind of stalled in the weight loss at the moment, trying to mix it up by doing some different exercises and trying new foods. And I had a break last week from exercise due to sheer lack of energy. I'm even considering typing up my own timetable of exercise so I will actually stick to it.

If anyone else has had any success with Zumba i'd really like to hear from you. Did you enjoy it? or perhaps you didn't enjoy as much as you thought you would. If not, why was that? I'm a bit nervous about going on my own but i'm sure once i'm there i'll enjoy it.

OH I'm so happy for you!!! I can't even tell you how many zumba related posts I've put on here haha, I guess I should buy stock in it because I LOVE it. I go at least twice a week. Sounds like your situation is very similar to mine when I first started. I was fairly new to my area back in september when I started and I didn't have anyone to go with me. I just decided to suck it up and go do it on my own. I can't tell you how happy I am that I did. Zumba has become my release. When I first started I could do all the moves and I was so out of shape I had to take some breathers in the middle of the songs - now I don't have to take breaks and I'm constantly pushing myself to do all the jumps to the fullest. Its great to see progress some place other then the scale. Now, I have to warn you, most people there are with others, but once the class starts it doesn't matter! The music is pumping everyone is smiling and laughing, its just a blast.

My only advice to you would be to force yourself to do at least 3 classes. After you leave class on Monday you're going to question if you even burned any calories because it'll feel like you're lost for the majority of the class. HOWEVER - once you go the second time you'll remember the songs and the moves, by the time you go a third time you'll be addicted!

Have a BLAST! I burn on average 750 calories in the 60 min class. :)

One year ago, I would have never dreamed I would have tried a class like Zumba, let alone become a Zumba instructor. I've never been much of a dancer, and my friend had me try it and I was hooked. Last July I became a licensed Zumba instructor and now I teach classes twice a week - expanding to four days a week next week! It's so much fun, and I have such a high after class! Love it! :D
