Personally, I got myself a Fitbit but have given it to my daughter. Difficulty I had was stressing over 10,000 steps a day. Today I ran 7 miles, so tomorrow will be a take it easy day but when I wore my Fitbit I got hooked up on constantly checking to make sure I'd walked the requisite number of steps. I use the Garmin Forerunner 15 with a HRM - today I ran 7 miles and MFP said I burned 839 calories, whilst my Garmin said 650! I've used the Garmin calories.

I've used Addidas Micoach and now use Runkeeper as it syncs with My Fitnesspal. So personally I'd go with Runkeeper.
