Late to the party, but I'm in for the rest of July! I have been gaining at an alarming rate for about a year. This stops now.

Everyone's path is different. The person who told you that is arrogant and narrow-minded - not to mention ignorant about WLS. I've heard this same line a number of times and it's total BS. You do what you think is right, and ignore the nay-sayers. For the record, I had VSG surgery 5 years ago. I've maintained a weight loss…

First of all, stop thinking of yourself as a failure! Beating up on yourself is never helpful. Weight is a life-long struggle for all of us, and most of us experience some regain. I'm 5 years out from surgery and put 35lbs back on in years 3-4. I've lost 20 of it and am still trying to get rid of the rest. What helped me…

I'm finding it much slower now. After WLS, I lost 130 lbs in about 14 months. I've been trying to take off 30 lbs of regain. It's taken 6 months to lose 21 lbs. Frustrating, but at least the scale is going in the right direction. It's a lifelong battle - you can do it!

I'm almost 5 years out and regained 30 pounds in year 3 - same reason - took my eye off the ball. I've lost 21 sand am trying to get rid of the last 9. It's coming off so slowly this time around! Feel free to add me.

Stalls are frustrating but normal. I 'm more than 4 years out now, but I remember stalls sometimes for 2 or 3 weeks, followed but drops of 5 or more lbs in a few days. Hang in there. The weight will come off if you stick with your doctor's plan. When were you sleeved?

I'm 4 years out from sleeve surgery. I lost 130 lbs, regained 30 in the past 2 years, got back on track a few months ago and have lost 15 lbs of the regain. It's always hard work, but WLS is a great tool. Anybody who wants to friend me is welcome.

I'm 4 years out from VSG. Everyone is welcome to friend me.

I'm 4 years out from sleeve surgery and I never regretted my decision for a minute. Like other posters have said, I wish I'd done it years earlier. Do lots of research and decide if WLS is right for you. In the end, your opinion is the only one that matters. Best of luck.

Kate, I'm 4 years out. In the first year, I lost 130 lbs. I maintained in year 2, but started to gain after that, and put 30 lbs back on. For me it was triggered by depression after the deaths of my parents and younger brother, all within a year. Maybe I would have regained anyway. Alcohol definitely contributed - I always…

I am glad to see this thread. I am 3 years out and have put almost 30 lbs back on after losing 120. No big mystery - I took my eye off the ball, starting adding snacks and alcohol back into my diet, and started eating when I'm not hungry. I've just started getting back on track - purged the house of all the crap and did a…

It took me a while to realize this is an NSV. A few months ago I had a chance to take a job as a regional sales manager. I spend several days a month making presentations and exhibiting at conferences. I wouldn’t have applied for this job when I was a size 24. I would have been too self-conscious presenting to large groups…

I was sleeved about 3 years ago. HW 290, surgery weight around 255. I lost about 130 lbs. I chose the sleeve because I wanted normal digestions. No regrets except I wish I'd done it sooner. I was a size 24 at my biggest, now I wear 8 or 10. Either procedure will give you good results. In the end, you still have to do the…

It's frustrating but normal. Hang in there and stick with your diet plan :)

I had the sleeve because I wanted to maintain normal digestion and have the least complicated surgery. I've been happy with my results. At almost 3 years out, I've maintained a 120 lb loss. My best friend has RNY and has also been successful. My surgeon tells patients to decide what procedure works best for their…

Good luck tomorrow!

I'm nearly 3 years out from VSG. I remember feeling fantastic when I woke up - I wondered if they'd done the surgery yet. When I started to move, I had pain and nausea. For me, like some of the other posters, nausea was the worst. The pain was minimal. Dry mouth and chapped lips were also irritating. Pack a chap stick for…

I took off 2 weeks after sleeve surgery. I have a desk job and felt fine going back after 2 weeks.

Congratulations! There are some very active groups for sleevers. You'll find a lot of support there.

Congratulations! Isn't that a great feeling? My biggest NSV was last year at Disney World. I walked two teenage boys into the ground! They were begging me to slow down :)

I'm so sorry about the loss of your dad. I lost my mom last month and it has put me in a tailspin in many ways. Is your fiance supportive of your goals? These are a few things that I've found helpful: Attend a WLS support group. Does your surgeon have one? If not, check some local hospitals. Although I have to really force…

I'm almost 2 years out. Anyone is welcome to add me.

I'm about 18 months out and at goal. Happy to answer any questions.

My doc told me I have 15-20 lbs of excess skin. I've got a lot of loose skin around my middle. I wear Spanx pretty often to keep things from jiggling. That doesn't really bother me. I also have huge 'bat wings' on both arms. I am a bit self-conscious about them and never wear sleeveless tops. If I could afford plastic…

Hi Melissa, You've gotten some good advice here. You can be successful with any procedure. Do your research and determine what procedure you think will fit best into your lifestyle, then work with your surgical team. I ruled out the lapband because I knew I wouldn't go for fills as often as I should. I didn't want a bypass…

I like Unjury and Syntrax Nectar (which has fruit flavors). Best of luck. The pre-op diet is the hardest part of the whole process, IMO. Luckily, it's over fast.

Congratulations and welcome to the losers' bench!

I started losing hair around 3-4 months post op. It continued for about 8 weeks. It's disconcerting, but it does come back. My doc told me Rogaine can be helpful if you get bald patches (luckily I never did!)
