I really recommend START! Walking at Home American Heart Association 3 Mile Walk on YouTube. Leslie Sansone has great videos.

Hi! I'm back as well from a long absence. Lost 30 pounds a few years ago by logging, exercising (mostly walking), routines, reducing wine, eating serving sizes. Since March 2020, now up to 225 and it's definitely got to go! Covid will end and I'm gonna be ready!!!

Sorry... posted in wrong place by accident and can't delete.... :(

For me it's no snacks after the 2 hour mark to bedtime (bedtime usually 10, so this is usually 8) and only if we eat dinner before 6. For example, if I'm at a party and intend on being in bed by 1, I don't eat after 11. Snack must be less than 150 calories (Like air popped popcorn) and not loaded with sugar. At home, it's…

I can't speak to your calorie intake since I'm not a doctor, and i wouldn't presume to tell you that you're "waking up hungry". However, I have read that it can take a good 3-4 weeks to settle into a new sleeping pattern after a change in routine. On January 4th I completely stopped alcohol consumption, started exercising,…

Canada over here!! Weather has been disastrous this winter! I try to get outside, whenever I can. Even if it's grey out, at least it's fresh and not stale air. I bought pretty but cheap flowers for my office. I try to get to ethnic food markets and buy "summer island" fruits like mangos, even watermelon.... that triggers…

I tried to join by using the link, but don't k ow if it worked! I've already set 3 month goals for myself (seasonal changes can be rough!) So this fits right in!

Laurentians, Quebec! Weather absolutely ridiculous to be able to be consistently active outside.... -30 one day and +5 and raining the next..... need more inside options at home aside from YouTube exercise videos and an elliptical.... any other fellow Canuks with at-home ideas?!
-
Not a college student anymore, but hectic schedule now and I remember being in university! Walk everywhere. If you take bus, get off 2 stops early and walk. Always take stairs. Always have fruit and granola bars in your bag so you're not tempted to eat take out junk during the day. Always have a water bottle with you and…

Watching myself be in control of something that is beneficial. Unless there is a medical or genetic reason someone is overweight (not in my case), it is a choice. A choice at restaurants, parties, a choice to use food to reduce stress.... there's always an excuse. So at the end of the year I ditched my super stressful job…

I'm in same boat. Thing with wine is that it does affect thinking no matter what and I'm always tempted to snack with wine. I used to factor in calories from wine.... then you're replacing food calories with wine calories and that's not good! I used to also try to excuse them away through my additional "exercise calories"…

I'm finding it's not about the cals that MFP gives me, but properly watching the food cals. My husband is using the scan-the-barcode ap on his phone and that's incredibly more accurate. Being from Canada, I know there are differences in certain American/Canadian versions of food (i.e. Kraft dinner!) However, MFP will never…

Me too! What comes next.... the husband?! The boss?! Just THINK what we could lose!! ;>)

Good grief... as mentioned.... the person ASKED for alternatives... my future answer should be, "Sorry.... if I mention in a thread in the future that I gave you an alternative idea, I'm liable to be judged and trashed. So you're on you're own". I agree.... I'm quite surprised how aggressive people are being about this....…
-
Hahaha! This thread is becoming just too funny!
-
Being disappointed "for" others as opposed to being disappointed "in" others is a question of empathy and not judgement. In a mutually supportive weight loss group, it's a natural reaction to feel for the other person when they are not making their weight loss goals and have not noticed they are consuming 1250 empty…

When asked and previously agreed upon within the friends. Should I write an essay on the whole process?
-
"Dragging diaries" and "no wonder"? Weird terms considering you don't know me and have quickly judged based on 6 sentences. I thought the purpose of this site was mutual support? Some people in this thread are critiquing others for keeping diaries closed AND open.... very bizarre way of supporting each other......
-
I'd be seriously annoyed if someone started giving me unasked-for advice on my eating! I like seeing other people's diaries to get an idea of variety in food choices when I get into a bored slump. I have mine open to friends only. With friends, it's nice to see something they're eating and be able to make an alternative…

I was just thinking along similar lines today! My 5 year old weighs 50 pounds.... I'm getting there! I was tempted to bring along 40 pounds of weight on my next walk so I can once again feel what I used to be lugging around! Great job!!
-
Wasn't it sort of the reverse as we gained weight though? As I was putting on weight over the years, I didn't immediately wake up every morning feeling fat. It was only when I started seeing pictures of myself (sitting on the floor at my son's birthday with the "inner tire" was eye opening!) that I really thought about how…
-
I totally agree! I am thoroughly enjoying my friends who are also trying to change their lifestyle as well. The large ones are a little condescending and critical, as are the already skinny minnies.... and your theory fits perfectly for them!
-
I'll get in on this too! So far my exercise is walking, elliptical, and other cardio. Noticing the weight coming off, but will definitely need to get the belly in shape!
-
(My husband just suggested that feeling fat this week might have something to do with the moon being so close to earth.... now that's an interesting idea!)
-
Your post is soooo interesting! From pounds lost, wedding weight and the jeans (I opted for a belt... something I haven't owned in YEARS!!) I could have written this post myself this week! I've been feeling pretty unmotivated, which is completely ridiculously bizarre given the 22 pound loss so far since January 1. So what…
-
Haha! Just saw this! Someone after my own heart!
-
If it's the weekend, I'd use up the calories in a couple of glasses of red wine. During the week, 4 cups air popped popcorn with 1.5 tbsp melted low cal/low fat margarine.
-
Not doing my weekly weigh in this week.... any guesses why?! Yep! Shall weigh in next week once Mother Nature moves on....!
-
I consider this "fake poundage"! The trick is to not get to feeling too bloated to exercise, and to keep the cravings at bay! That's what I like about the MFP reports.... I can do a 30 or 60 day report to really see how that Mother Nature week doesn't count!
-
Yes indeed! I'm a school Principal with a teaching task. This week was report cards and miserably cold weather and I'm kicking a head cold. Trying to be forgiving to myself!
