Not new to LCHF or this group, but my new scale links up with MFP so it re-kindled my interest! Feel free to add me.

Check out www.dietdoctor.com. Basically the proper ratio is around 75% Fat/20% Protein/ 5% Carbohydrates. This should get you into ketosis. If it doesn't you can try dropping the carb content slightly, or try intermittent fasting. Best of luck!

Your body can not store more than 300 grams of carbs (energy) at a given time. Once your muscle cells have reached this limit, any excess energy is going to be stored as fat.
-
Your muscles can only store roughly 300 grams of carbs at a time. If you are already at that limit, then the rest would get stored as fat, no?

Once the pancreas produces enough insulin to overcome the resistance what happens to the glucose in your blood stream? Where and how does it get stored?
-
Tons of links to studies on that blog. Take the time to read it.
-
And the pancreas produces more insulin to overcome the resistance, then the excess glucose gets stored as fat.

I meant to say insulin resistant, not sensitive.
-
Could you be more condescending?

Eating a high carb low fat diet. My body processes the fuel I eat differently. I am insulin resistant. The best results I have had so far is LCHF. It is not as simple as energy in energy out. There is a lot of great emerging research that supports this.

Create energy out of nothing? Not following.

What?!?! You mean to tell me it is not calorie in calorie out that makes you lose weight?

Bacon!

LOL... good point. No one should be DRINKING protein! You can get all you need from your diet.

How so?

My diet consist of 70% saturated fat, sourced from animal fat, butter, cream, coconut oil, avocado, and the list goes on an on. My cholesterol is 163 with a 5.1-1 ratio, triglycerides are 54. Loosing weight is not simply putting yourself in a caloric deficit, it has more to do with the quality of the calories you eat and…

Not everyone can loose weight while eating carbs, I can attest to that. I was eating roughly a 500 calorie deficit and did not loose any weight, actually went up a few pounds. Everyone's body does not process carbs the same way. The best method to figure out your tolerance is to cut your carb intake to no more than 20…

I drink top shelf bourbon and it does not seem to effect my ketones. Not sure about the weight loss, I am down 7 lbs in about 2 weeks.

Snow, I would have to totally agree with both observations. I was eating close to 200 grams of protein per day, sometimes less and sometimes more and my ketones were steadily dropping, into the light to almost nonexistent pink/pales colors. Now my protein has been around 100-125 per day and they are slowly starting to…

Thanks for the advice everyone. Time to digest all this info and start experimenting to see what works

Anyone can add me as a friend, whether you need the support or not, happy to have you! Years ago I lost 110 lbs in 10 months following the original Atkins diet. 333 lbs. down to 223 lbs. I stayed there for 2 years until I met my (italian) wife, Gained about 50 of that back in a few years. I then quite smoking and ballooned…

Great info. Thanks for the reply.

Agreed, the benefits they provide far outweigh the .6 grams of carbs per egg

I've eaten almost 300 grams of fat today and about the same yesterday. Eating 80 grams in a day is hardly a high fat diet, unless like previously stated you are eating VLC. As for the bowel movement, this happens to me from time to time, but less frequent if I add in some of the allowed nuts and seeds.
