another vote for incorporating strength training..weak quads and glutes gave me all kinds of pain and niggling injuries. I'm guessing you have the right type of shoes...and also, stretch,stretch and stretch after each and every run..make stretching an extension or a part of your run....it isn't complete until the stretch…

weather you choose gels or sport beans etc, do NOT do anything different on race day...experiment on what you prefer in the safety of your training runs...race day is not a good day to try something new that might potentially upset your stomach or otherwise impair your performance. same applies to shoes and even clothing!

all of THIS ^^^ and stay as hydrated as you possibly can, especially if you are running this in unforgiving heat and humidity. also, try and run the circuit or track where you will do the actual run.

I don't care what the anti-carb brigade say. I run, and I run long distances. without carbs I wouldn't be able to run anywhere near as effectively. My body needs fuel..so I fuel.

YES to KT Tape and lots of rest. I also roll my foot over a golf ball on a hard floor,applying pressure..that really helps.

I'd get the 'nod', wave and a smile from fellow runners in canada and the states, but it's yet to happen in the UK..they just stare at you as if you are the enemy.

Women have every right to lift weights in the weights area and not feel intimidated as anybody else. I don't do a double take when there's a woman using an elliptical machine so why would I do that if they are lifting weights?
