I'm thinking about getting Scuba certified, but there's a voice in my head that says "Geeze, you're almost 52, act your age", but I just don't know if it's too risky or strenuous. I've done a couple of non-certified dives while on vacation and loved it. Also the water tends to be quite cloudy here, but it's here. Any…

Hey, where'd all the guys go? I'm struggling with exercise. I have a committment after work tonight and tomorrow, I couldn't get my butt out of bed this morning and tomorrow I have an early meeting. I feel stupid for missing the opportunity this morning. Oh well, I'll just have to watch my food a little more carefully. I…

Baked pork chops, rice pilaf and lite cesear salad.

Congratulations on getting back into running! I'm glad you posted this, because I've been running with my dog, but am still using a hand leash. I would like some advice on a waist leash as well. It would make running much easier. I think I've heard them referred to as umbilical leashes on pet training shows on TV.

I agree with fuzzy, go a few minutes early and let the instructor know that it's your first time. They will be very welcoming and give you some pointers on pacing yourself. Just pick the class that looks like the most fun and go for it. If you don't have fun just try another. Everybody doesn't like the same thing.

Wendy's small chili and a side salad is my standard Wendy's lunch. So yummy!

I exercise very early, and do this often. I find that the texture is different, but certainly not gross by any means. I do find that the banana doesn't hold up as well as other fruit. Strawberries or blueberries hold up better in a smoothy that you're not eating right away.

Well, for goodness sake, it's your body and your health, the reasons you're doing this should be egotistial, as it's all about you. One of the predicter's of success is that we are doing this for ourselves. People who do this to please others often fail. You obviously are going to acheive your goal and walk into your…

Boy that's a loaded question. Is it homemade or from a restaurant? The amount of oil used makes the biggest difference. You can make an extremely light stir fry at home with the listed ingredients, but in a restaurant is deadly.

I went totally off the wagon during the Superbowl. Too many chips and dip. Oh, yeah not to mention 4 beers. Oh well, I'm back at it. This thread is great, keep it going.

Does the word "balance" ring a bell??

It's great! I was never a runner, in fact I was always last boy to finish in gym when we had to do a distance run. I had to repeat a few of the weeks as I just wasn't ready to go to the next level, so it probably took me 12 weeks instead of 9, but I don't care. I actually enjoy running now and am just working on improving…

I was in exactly the same boat as you. I've always hated running and was always the last boy finished in High School when we had to run long distances in gym. I did C25k last year and I honestly now enjoy running. I do have to tell you that I had to repeat several weeks in the C25k and took probably 12 weeks to complete…

Hey, I'm in. I've been wanting to increase my swimming and this could do the trick. I'm going to commit to 1/2 mile twice a week, so 4 miles in February.

I always weigh mine after cooking.

I think it's never harmful to teach lessons in good nutrition and exercise. I wouldn't focus on her body image or weight loss so much as good nutrition and her overall health. At her age learning to enjoy exercise is so important. Find a way to keep her active and having fun (swimming, dance, cheer ) whatever she enjoys.…

I make these all the time, except I use Eggbeaters. I make some blueberry syrup by putting 1/4 C blueberries in a small bowl with 2 Tablespoons sugar free syrup pancake syrup. Microwave for 30 seconds to get hot. (be careful, if it boils over in the Microwave it's an awful mess!) Pour it over the top and yum!!

Welcome back, success in life isn't measured by how many times you fall, but how many times you pick yourself up and start again. Go to the gym, you can't be intimidated without your permission (paraphrased from Eleanor Roosevelt).

Keep everything very positive. Praise her whenever you "catch" her making heathy choices. Spend time with her in healthy activities, maybe ask her to walk with you a few days a week during the next year.

I found it pretty disgusting. I'd offer you a jar that was just missing a teaspoon, but I threw it away too fast.

I would recommend couch to 5k. Since you already are doing some jogging, you can probably skip week one and perhaps week two. Plus you are not needing to go 5k. If you have an I-phone, download the app C25K from Bluefin Software it's worth the $1.99. I've done short triathlons in the past and running is also my weakest…

Great job, I have about 20 pounds to go until I can make this post. I'm really envious.

It's better that they go to waste than having them go to waist. Throw them away.

I did HMR about 5 years ago, but I was under a doctor's care. Are you just using the shakes or are you eating food as well? The first 3 days are tough, but once you get beyond that, It's pretty easy and you feel amazing. Good luck.
-
Of course, I always weigh in. Do I expect good news?
-
Ivy, enjoy your run today. I'm sure you'll get farther than last time! Post after you've finished.
-
I would consider still giving yourself a rest day in between, however that's your choice. Listen to your body. I had to repeat a few weeks because I wasn't ready to continue, but I always gave my body some recovery time. Relax, be kind to yourself, and you'll end up enjoying this.

Okay, which 3 days a week are you planning to run?
