Great idea! I bought a GIANT bag of almonds a few weeks ago, and I was just wondering what else to do with them besides eating them raw or roasted. Thanks!

*BUMP* I was in a similar situation during college, driving from the northern suburbs of Chicago to Milwaukee. It wasn't until my last semester that I found a carpool buddy. Good luck to you!

A couple of handy tips: 2 tbsp = a golf ball 3 oz. of protein = a deck of cards

There are lots of other topics on this. Just type "over protein" in the search. Here's an example: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/29240-protein?hl=protein+over#posts-280105

That's amazing! Way to go! :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: Enjoy clicking that "maintain my current weight" option on your profile! (I'm assuming you can't leave this place?!)

Mudvayne!

SCL, I'm bumping this because I just had an idea when I was measuring out some snacks to take to work. What about trying to get your son to eat peanuts, almonds, and things like that? They are small in size, but they pack some real punch for protein, good fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. The plus side: because nuts…

Keep up the good work! Cardio can be a big indicator of your progress.
-
I love that my favorite dress pants (which I bought about 7 years ago) "swish" when I walk instead of clinging to my legs for dear life. It reminds me that my hard work is paying off!
-
Try doing strength training before cardio, too. It helps me get the blood going instead of it pooling in my feet.
-
I hope those kids grew up to, I don't know, walk into walls and trip over flat surfaces?!?! That's what they call a "character builder", I think.

Also keep in mind that your current weight plays a role in how many calories you burn. I'm 5'2" and 110 lbs., so I really have to haul *kitten* to hit 500 calories in an hour, and I generally don't have more than an hour at a shot for a workout. Here's a link that gives you some idea of the variations of calories burned…

Also, keep challenging yourself with your workouts. I used to think I would die if I did more than 15 minutes of cardio. Now, I do 45 to 60 minutes on the elliptical every other day. Between cardio and strength training, I haven't lost tons of weight, but I fit into my clothes better and I feel great! Don't give up! Just…

Ah, you beat me to it! I've seen this situation come up with a friend of mine, and drastically reducing her fat has really helped manage her symptoms. Another thing to check are your hormone levels in general. I'm not sure of the connection, but my sister has high prolactin levels and gets dizzy after she eats. Maybe it…

That's a great start! Keep up the good work! Be advised, however, that the pace of your weight loss with inevitably slow down. Don't get discouraged!
-
I hear you. I could give up some hips, too... It's a little bit discouraging for me to be losing up top. I've made a running joke of it with my fiance, telling him that my bras are growing!
-
I think it's pretty good. I've used other calculators, and they come up with a similar number. Just make sure you are using your current weight.

Live and learn, right? The "regular" sandwiches at Subway are not so bad, just make sure to plan ahead next time. Sometimes I get my sandwich as a salad and get double meat. It costs a little bit extra (double meat, not the salad) but the combination of veggies and protein is super-healthy and keeps me full into the…

National Body Challenge is the show on Discovery Health. I have my DVR set for it already! It has been on before under slightly different names, so it's not exactly new, but I am excited - I too can use the motivation! I really like it better than Biggest Loser (I know, I'm am making myself an outcast here) because nobody…

The formula for points: Points = Calories/50 + Fat/12 - Fiber/4 So it's not only calories that determine your Points value. Unless you are eating foods with the Points printed on the package, it's easier to look it up on MFP (in my very biased opinion, that is  ). Afterthought: I'm editing this post to clarify that I…

Ditto... I am 5'2" and 100 lbs would be underweight at my height. Your body will fight the weight loss because it's just not healthy. If you do lose that much weight, you will look and feel like crap - your hair will fall out and your heart will be weak. Please reconsider. If 100 lbs is really your goal you should seek…

I'm not sure I have the most helpful suggestions, but maybe this will bump up your post so someone else sees it. It sounds like you are doing things right - thinking in reverse of trying to lose weight. For instance, I try to avoid high-calorie gravies and sauces because I am trying to lose weight. Maybe your son would be…

Yes, yes, yes! I usually buy my dress clothes at Express, but there was a wicked good sale at the Limited, so I went in and pulled a size 4 (my Express size) off the rack. Tried 'em on - too big... grabbed a 2 - better, but still loose... then, the size 0 - they fit! On one hand, I was really excited - I mean, I HAVE NO…

Oh, for sure! I have, on more than one occasion, opted for a vegetarian sandwich or chicken breast sandwich that sounded pretty healthy only to find out that it's smothered in cheese and on the heartiest bread ever created, racking up 75 to 100% of my daily calories (even without the mayo). It's frustrating, but take it as…

I like something with a little sugar, like a piece of fruit. The simple carbs give me a little jolt, and a cold piece of fruit is pretty refreshing. The protein you are eating now is probably great for the long-term energy, but maybe something with some (natural) sugar would help for the short term. But, I have been known…

That's great!!! And 30 minutes - WOW!!! :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

Ditto, ditto, and ditto... I have been out of college for a year and a half, but I remember the "buffet challenge" and the ::ahem:: occasional hangover. NOT good. Just stick to eating and drinking what you know you'll feel good about later. I'm guessing you have free access to a gym, too, so there's no excuse not to…

Harvard, fo' sho'... In fact, that's kind of the path I took. I plowed through an undergrad engineering program (at a private school, but not Harvard) in three years. It was NOT fun, but at 21 I was out working hard and making enough money to play hard.

Right now, I am only buying skim, but it took some "weaning" to get my fiance on the same page. I bought 2% for him at first, then 1%, and finally skim. A handy tip is to buy lactose-free milk. It costs a little more because you usually can't find a generic brand, but it lasts FOREVER, especially if you buy skim. Since…
