I'm in too! I have 9 pounds to go but get weighed tonight, so hopefully I will have lost a bit since last week  I'm also doing the zig-zag approach but not intentionally, I just go over some days so try to cut back on others. I'm upping my exercise and joined the gym properly now so will be going at least 3 times a…

I'm new to calorie counting and also finding it hard, but I think that discovering this site was one of the best things that's happened to me health-wise, I have done so much exercise to earn myself more calories! I get weighed on Monday so am keeping my fingers crossed
-
That's nothing, mine is only 1181! I understand how you feel, but then again, I'd rather be the size I am and only 9 pounds away from my goal than have loads of weight to lose, it must be difficult knowing you have such a huge task ahead. And I look and feel ok where I am, I have no health problems and am quite…

I did a class today and it was great! It was a mixture of cardio and strength training, since you have to move against the water. I really worked my arms and thought it was much better than conventional aerobics because it's gentler on your joints and you use more muscles. It didn't burn loads of calories (218 per hour)…

Ooh, thanks! :blushing:

That's so nice of you to say, thank you! And thank you for sharing your story with us, I love seeing couples in love because it gives me hope I will find someone too  Anyway, my big news is... Today would have been the 2 year anniversary for me and my ex - so I celebrated by joining a dating site! I've had 1…

Also want to take this opportunity to say that I love your site Mike! Thanks so much for creating it

The only thing I noticed was that if I didn't put in the amount of servings per container, it wouldn't work, even if I'd put in the average serving size.

The guidelines on here are just guidelines, and your percentages depend on what sort of eating plan you are following. Some (like South Beach) encourage you to eat more protein, and are still healthy ways of eating. The main factor in weight loss is calories, in my opinion, though some foods (like simple carbs, biscuits,…

I just made this but used milk and also added some berries - it was so filling, I can hardly move! Really yummy too

I think you just lose it more slowly as you get smaller. I only have 8 or 9 pounds to go and my predicted weight loss is 1/2 pound a week.
-
I don't know of any, but I just use this site! I put all the ingredients into, say, dinner. Then I save the meal under 'my meals' and if I'm not eating it that day, I just delete the ingredients from my diary. I often put in the whole recipe, and in the title put the number of portions it is. So if I make double, when I do…

Great post, you made me smile and got me motivated, thinking about sitting in the park and feeling body confident, something to look forward to!

No, my BMR calories are 1181, for my goal they are only 1142! I worked out my maintenance calories by putting in my goal weight and clicking on 'maintain weight', that's correct, right? I'm currently on 1200 calories a day which is only a 250 calorie deficit, so I can't lose more than 1/2 pound a week. I'm only 5ft tall…

Wow, 77 pounds lost, that is AMAZING! Well done!!

I find it completely depends on what I'm doing. I'm normally over on protein and fat, but I'm staying with my family at the moment and two of them are vegetarian. So today I'm over on the carbs (we've been eating rice, chickpeas and the like) but under on the fat and slightly under on protein. I think the main thing to…

I agree, though do be careful, weekends used to be my downfall! I'd drink too much and eat junk food the next day, and basically undo all my hard work during the week. But you have to have some flexibility, otherwise you'll just be thin and miserable! I find it hard to stick exactly to my calories even during the week -…

I think what makes me a bit sad is that I have to change my lifestyle - I can't spend long summer days in the park drinking wine and eating crusty bread, no more nights out with the girls drinking creamy cocktails, no more tucking into a Sunday lunch at the pub with a nice stodgy pudding afterwards... Well, I can do these…

I used to have peanut butter in my oatmeal too but stopped for some reason. I may try this again, because my normal oatmeal with berries doesn't keep me full for long (I usually have a boiled egg too).

I just found out my maintain calories for when I reach my goal weight - they're only 1430 a day! I'm eating about that amount now (though some are my exercise calories so I should be losing, albeit slowly), and this has really brought it home that this way of eating is for LIFE. Never will I be able to go back to eating…

I've also been wondering if I've lost enough and if I should stop now. I want to lose another 8.5 pounds but my BMI is currently 23.4 so I know the last few pounds will be hard. But although I'm not unhappy with the way I look, I'm not exactly ecstatic either, and I know I look better with a few more pounds off, though…

Apart from getting it checked by a doctor or at a gym, how do you estimate your body fat?
-
Ah I see. What made me think of it was looking at a recipe site, where the energy content was given in kJ, so I had to find out how many were in 1 calorie and convert it.
-
Most of you will probably know this already, but I read in one post recently that someone was confused about how many kilojoules are in one calorie (I think their HRM counted in kJ and they needed to convert it). Anyway - there are 4.2 kJ in one calorie.
-
Thanks  I think I should take my measurements tomorrow so I can monitor them too. And I shall try to stop worrying about the pound I gained! I'm off to bed now, so good night
-
No it's not TOM, but songbyrdsweet advised me that it might be water retention due to the sudden increase in exercise, so I feel a bit better. I will have a good week and hopefully see the benefits next week. Thanks for the motivation speak too
-
Same here, I was horrified when the site said I could only have 1200 calories! Today is the only day I've been able to stay within my limit (and I had to exercise to get the extra cals!), so exercise really is a must for me. I love my food
-
Oh I see, thank you! I'll check my nutrition report for today and see what it says, though I feel I've eaten a balanced diet. And thanks for the advice about the exercise, I actually just posted a question about this on the exercise forum, I was wondering if it might be water weight.
-
I know weight loss is never predictable, and I'm trying to lose 'the last 8 pounds' but I put on a pound this week and am so disappointed. I ate healthy food like I normally do (though since I joined this site I realised I was going over my calories so tried to cut back) and really upped my exercise - I've done 2 yoga…

Do you mean me?! Honestly, I'm not special, in fact I don't know how long I will feel like this! I'm motivated now but whether I will feel the same way next week is another matter! **crosses fingers**
