Maybe you could try making them with low fat cream cheese, that might work? Or maybe an egg substitute, if one exists?

Well I ate a bit more and even though I have 125 calories left, the site has stopped saying 'you're not eating enough' so I might leave it there for today because I've just eaten and am unlikely to be hungry again before bed. I put on a pound this week too, despite doing more exercise in a week than I usually do in a month…

Well I don't think I'll go every day, I'm on a pay as you go scheme so can't really afford to go more than twice a week, nor will I have the time once things start getting busier with work and part time study. I think twice a week will probably be my limit most weeks, though I'll keep up the daily walking too (so I don't…

I don't know the answer but I have the same problem, and my percentages vary from day to day. Unless you eat the same stuff each day, it would be quite hard to stick to your exact ratios. For weight loss, I think calories are the most important factor, I think the percentages are mainly for health reasons. It also depends…

Ok, that's a slight exaggeration  But I seem to have suddenly developed a real taste for working out! I used to be someone who did virtually no exercise (though I have been walking for 30 minutes a day for the past few months) but after completing a 6 week yoga course (1 1/2 hours a week) I joined my local gym 3…

I've never tried it without the egg but I don't think it would work, and besides, the egg is partly what makes it filling, as it contains protein and fat. I ate mine 4 hours ago and I'm still not hungry!

I can wholeheartedly recommend South Beach, it's a very healthy diet which is based around whole grains, lean protein, low fat dairy, good fats, fruit and lots of vegetables. I do advise you read the book, but don't rely on it completely as the menus are limited and it doesn't really tell you how to adapt them for your own…

My current weight is 119, 60 minutes of the general sidestroke would burn 432 calories which would be wonderful but I also would never be able to do it for that long! I'm assuming the calories burned are for continuous exercise, so I've had to factor in rest breaks. For example, I did a 1 hour aerobics class on Saturday…

Ok, this doesn't taste like real cheesecake but it's very nice and good for a dessert or treat. If someone can tell me how to enter it into the database I will do so, otherwise the nutritional content is given below. It serves 8 but I had trouble sticking to just 1 slice so I froze the rest (I don't know how well it will…

This is my first recipe posted on here, I hope you all like it! I got the recipe from a South Beach forum, it makes a great breakfast or dessert and feels really indulgent. It's also pretty good for you and quite filling. I like to serve it with fresh berries, low fat plain yogurt and some sugar free maple syrup, but they…

Yes, that's helpful, thank you! I can honestly say I've never exercised this much in my life, having the extra calories is the best motivator ever! I shall keep an eye on things though, and bear in mind what you said about them being an estimate.
-
...no, I'm not going to ask if I should eat them  I was wondering if they're worked out based on our individual weights, or if they are just general guidelines. I only weigh 119 pounds (I'm short!) and realise that I will burn less calories per hour than someone who weighs, say 150 pounds. Does anyone know?
-
Oh they look great, thanks so much! I will definitely try those.

I think I'm spending them quite sensibly. I have oatmeal with skimmed milk and berries, and an egg for breakfast. My main meals are based around lean protein with salad, veg and sometimes whole grains like brown pasta or rice. I make myself healthy lower calorie snacks like brownies made from beans (got this recipe from a…

Yeah, I guess it is a bit strange when I think about it, after all, we have skimmed milk and fat free cream cheese here, not sure why we don't have the other stuff! Hmmmm, I've never heard of those noodles but I may be able to find something similar, and thanks for recommending that site, I'm about to take a look!

Thanks for the link, the only problem is I'm in the UK so would have trouble getting hold of some of the ingredients. Maybe I could find substitutes, though I have no idea what the Pillsbury biscuits are! I've also noticed that we don't have fat free cheese here, the best I can get is 50% reduced fat Cheddar. I can't…

Sorry if this has been covered before, I'm new to this forum. I'm struggling to stick to my 1200 calorie limit, even with my exercise calories. I was wondering if anyone had any good recipes that are low in calories but really filling (I hate being hungry). I like pretty much anything really, I'm not a fussy eater.…

Thanks for the advice everyone. Yes, I am eating my exercise calories, in fact I'm purposely doing much more exercise than I used to (this week I've done 2 sessions of yoga plus one aerobics class, when normally all I would do is my 30 minutes walk to and from work each day), if I wasn't I would never stick to the 1200…

Since I joined this site I've cut down on my food and upped my exercise, but I'm still struggling to stay within my calorie limit. I did 80 minutes of yoga this morning and have eaten healthy food all day, but I'm about to eat my dinner and after that I will only have 40 calories left. That means I can't have my usual…

This is a great thread, I've really enjoyed reading it! Grumpymoo (don't like calling you that but I don't know your name!), thank you for sharing your experiences, and good on you for keeping your eyes open, not making excuses for Jon, and ending it when you were advised to on here. My WORST dating habit is making excuses…

I'd recommed South Beach as a good alternative, which is not low carb but does restrict starch and grains to a certain extent, and encourages you to eat slightly more protein and fat. I had to tweak it to fit in with my calorie intake, but my percentages now are roughly 45% carbs, 30% fat and 25% protein. It seems to be…

I have a pic now, that's better!

Yes, I accidentally skipped to the last page instead of the next one, but thought it looked interesting so read it, then bumped it up in case others found it useful.
-
Banks, that was really interesting info, thanks for posting it. Not that I need convincing, in fact I was horrified when the site said I needed to restrict my calories to 1200 a day just to lose 1/2 lb a week  So I've had to up my exercise just to stay within my calorie limit, I'm now eating between 1300 calories…

Can't speak for the others but I'm new and haven't got round to adding one yet! The others only have a few posts too, maybe the same goes for them?
-
I accidentally went to the last thread and found this, I thought I'd bump it up as some of these tips are very good! Here are mine: Really think about why you want to eat, and learn to tell the difference between true hunger, a desire to eat, and a craving. It sounds like it would be simple, but actually it's not. Quite…

I can't comment on this as I have no interest in diet supplements, but if you find yourself in a munchy mood, why not have something but just make sure it's low cal and healthy? There's nothing wrong with having a snack. However, if you find yourself wanting food when you're not hungry or have just eaten (I get this a…

I would love to know how you both manage to stay under 1200 a day! I'm the opposite, I always go over, so have upped my exercise to compensate. But I've never counted calories before, and have always chosen diets where you can eat plenty of food and never go hungry, maybe that's why. It doesn't seem to have done me any…
-
I think what makes it confusing is that different diets recommend different things. Everyone is different, you just need to try things and see what works for you. I followed a low fat, high carb diet for most of my life, but when I switched to South Beach (which is higher fat and protein, and lower carb though not anything…

I've NEVER counted calories and I've been dieting on and off for over 10 years (hopefully this time I will keep it off!). I've lost 14 pounds this time round and am 7 pounds away from my goal, and I've done this without counting any calories or exercising (apart from walking 30 minutes 5 times a week, and that's a fairly…
