It's a little bit of both especially when you are working out. Excess calories/calorie deficite will determine weight loss, but macros will determine body composition. 20 grams of carbs sounds unrealistically low, discouraging and frustrating to me. I'm currently doing: Day 1: Chest and Back, Abs Day 2: Biceps and Triceps, Abs Day 3: Shoulder and Legs, Abs Day 4: Rest I'm doing 3 sets of 10 reps for all of my exercises (except abs, that's 2 sets of 15 reps), and I'm usually in the gym for two hours. It's working great for me so far.

I'm on the same boat as you. I started school around 150, got down to 127 first semester, and worked my way back up to 160 this past summer. I'll be entering my senior year this fall. It can be so stressful worrying and school, diet, working out, and work. But with a thick skin and discipline, it will happen!

My biggest concern is that I'm pretty active (gym 5-6 times per week, 20 minutes hard cardio, 45 minutes 3x3 lifting heavy) on a restricted calorie diet (1200-1300) so I see the supplements as a way I can achieve my fitness goals and weight loss goals with out going over my calorie goal for the day. I spent $150 this past month for the 4 supplements. That's with the member discount and their in-store promotions. I worked it out with out their promotions and just the member price, and it's $188 per month.
